  1. This offense has a really good, young core of skill players. Polk (So), Williams (Fr), Mason (Fr), Cravaack (So), Patrick (Fr) and potentially a good young QB. I assume they will all have opportunities elsewhere so keeping them here probably won’t happen. It’s just a shame that the resources aren’t here to keep a team together.
  2. More on that same thread, suggest he might end up as the head coach at UConn. There is certainly going to be a lot of speculation until he decides on something.
  3. Agree, giving up 89 yard touchdown passes doesn’t help
  4. Sounds like the Zips need to get a lead and force Bowling Green into a position that they have to throw
  5. We have over 300 yards of offense in the first half and are only up by three points
  6. We look like the better team, but turnovers and stupid mistakes are the only thing that will beat us. So far, we are doing that.
  7. Get off my lawn
  8. Good article about the origin of weekday MACtion games: https://www.forbes.com/sites/timcasey/2025/11/11/how-the-mid-american-conference-and-espn-made-maction-mid-week-football-popular/?fbclid=IwZnRzaAOAYThleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZAo2NjI4NTY4Mzc5AAEemo1YlrZA2EszPo3QuBDsIR2ejxJkA2It2G9NFoysihcLW258CHJJ9SWwHNQ_aem_YlVC2XEkdt_RBvARUvnIoA
  9. Can’t give up any special teams TD’s. They have a really good kick returner that has taken a few to the house - and we’ve given up a few this year. Have to keep it away from him!
  10. I think it’s really going to be interesting at the end of the season when Joe meets with the AD. I really believe that Joe is going to have a list of changes that need to be made to this program or he will walk away. This late season success will only empower him more. Throughout the year he has been dropping little nuggets about his dissatisfaction with the school’s commitment (financially and structurally) to the program. I think he feels that he is trying to build a program with one hand tied behind his back. We will see.
  11. Good preview of the game https://akronzippedup.substack.com/p/game-11-preview-kent-state-golden?utm_medium=ios
  12. Wow, that’s amazing. They will not be a MAC doormat for long if those numbers are correct. As far as I know Akron has zero NIL money. Makes you wonder how they distribute that? I assume that QB’s would get the biggest share of the pie but are all starters getting something? Just for the sake of argument if you are dividing that among 22 starters that’s over $90,000 per kid. Is that paid annually?
  13. Unfortunately, it’s supposed to be around 30 degrees at kickoff
  14. Does anyone know IF this team can make it to 6-6, is there honestly a realistic chance that the bowl band could get repealed?
  15. But unfortunately, the problem still exists, this will probably be another completely different roster next season. Many players that have some success this year will move on and who knows what they will replace them with. Building a program, especially in a situation like Akron, is more difficult than ever
  16. Buy the cheapest ticket and you can sit anywhere in the stadium
  17. “Again”? I don’t think he’s ever been fired?
  18. 2 weeks ago Umass was leading Buffalo at half and only lost by 7 to them. Don’t get me wrong, they are not good, but the Zips can’t take anyone lightly! In regards to Joe at the end of the season, I think he asks for some changes: increased budget, some modest NIL dollars, etc and if he doesn’t get it he walks. If so, I just hope it happens fairly quickly after the end of the season so Akron has time to find a replacement. It would be bad for the program, and the players, if it drags out and he resigns in mid January.
  19. Big difference between “should have” and “could have”.
  20. Could be worse I guess
  21. Agree, all of last year we talked about how the schedule had set us up to fail and that this year this schedule was set up for success - which it was. It’s the story of Joe’s tenure, so many winnable games that we just couldn’t close on. So far this year it’s Wyoming and UAB. Win those are we are sitting at 4-3 with several winnable MAC games in the next month and a very possible bowl bid (if eligible) coming. But here we are again, another year of “what if’s”. Let’s get a win over Testicle Tech this week and see if it builds any momentum.
