Great info…the major wildcard here is the portal. The minute some kids have some success (whether real or imagined) they want to set off for greener pastures. Sometimes it pays off but sometimes it blows up in their face. I assume there will be some very tough meetings this week between players and coaches. Some players will hit the road on their own and many will be told to hit the road. Buckle up, I think it’s going to be a crazy portal December.

Exactly, a perennial losing program with no student or community support and a bare bones budget. The only guy they could get is someone looking for their first head coaching job - and that might be a stretch.

Just heard during the Ohio State game that Joe Morehead is a top candidate to watch for the Michigan OC job. I really think he is gone unless there are some big changes in the football budget - and I don’t think that is going to happen.

He was very non committal about being back next year and also threw in a couple jabs about the schedule as well as the budget (“or lack thereof”). My guess is that he is going to have a talk with the President and/or the new AD and demand more for the football budget. This could get interesting.

How about a little helmet sticker honoring Jerry Faust for the last home game? It would be a great way to honor him and a great way to connect him to Akron (for many people nationally that don’t know, or forgot, about his Akron years).

They need to show up next week and play a really good game against Toledo. Obviously a win would be ideal and prove that maybe, just maybe, things are changing but playing them tough is a must.

Honestly, Finley’s performance was one of the worst I’ve seen out of a qb in a long time. I’ll give him a pass (kinda) because the conditions were horrendous but he looked absolutely horrible. There was a couple stretches during that game where he didn’t even come remotely close to a receiver, it’s a miracle he didn’t throw 5 interceptions. As you noted, he also missed/ignored open receivers several times and also he still hadn’t learned to just thrown the ball away when out of the pocket instead of taking a sack - so frustrating. Maybe coming from NC State and Cal he hasn’t seen bad weather in a long time? It will be interesting to see if he comes back next year.
