  1. You're welcome. They'll be talking w/the new AD as well.
  2. ZipsLive is on now (noon ET)... http://www.sportsradio1350.com/main.html ...interviewing JD...it's a start...
  3. "I'm lovin it"
  4. >>Bonfire anyone? Not too close to the stadium, please We wouldn't want any accidents.
  5. Twas the night before Christmas... Great post, rifle !
  6. One tradition we have is the Goodyear blimp flying over the stadium before and during every game. It dates back to the early days of the rubber industry in Akron. They also get great birds-eye views for the free streaming video broadcasts of the games on the web.(or was I just dreaming that the other night? )
  7. They wanted him to make the trip but they didn't want him to dress for the game. I'm confused...what else is new?
  8. Nice. Looks like decals on wood grain...what exactly did you paint?
  9. I know I'm probably just wishing upon a star, but since it's the first on-campus game and we anticipate a large tailgating crowd, wouldn't it be nice if French & Co. could do a 2 hour long Infocision stadium-opening pregame show earlier in the day, before folks head into the stadium so everyone could hear it? There's so much they could say about the whole project and have interviews with Mack R., Hunter Y. and Tom W., the builders, even Proenza. Maybe even some call-in Q & A. They could maybe report on traffic & parking and Joe Dunn could go around campus describing the events and atmosphere and talk with some tailgaters on-air. The U. could buy some ad spots to help pay the airtime...I'm sure the marketing team will get right on that.
  10. Early line: Western Michigan Broncos are 1.5 point underdogs at IU. Could the Hoosiers go .000 in the MAC? Can the Zips go .500 in the Big Televen?
  11. Hey, hey, hey...watch that cross-posting, fella
  12. I'm glad I'm an optimist, otherwise being a Zips fan would be too depressing. The coaches know a lot more than I do about the game and players so I won't comment on the game plan. I'm waiting to see what the Info will do. I think when potential recruits come to watch our games on campus and see an energized atmosphere, our talent and depth should increase considerably. Besides competing year in year out for the MACC, my goal would be to go into any game against a top-10 team and be competitive early on and not be manhandled. The Info should give us enough leverage to not have to play the top-10 money game as the first game of the season...that's just a bad situation to be in so let the 1-AA's do it. The MAC may be weak overall but the MAC all-star team would be a damb good team that could compete with anyone and if we can recruit the best players away from the other MAC teams, that's what we'll have. We need the Info to get attendance up to 20K+ average. The increase in campus student housing could be the best thing to happen for the football program...more student attendance at the games and more students enrolling at UA main campus which could lead to higher academic standards which could be an attraction for more/better recruits. There is still a lot of unrealized upside.
  13. Well, I guess the 'Spirit of Info' didn't do much for us today but used to be we might have given up 60+ to a top 10 team. It would have been nice to come off a better performance to open the stadium but it will still be an awesome day on campus next Saturday. I guess we ran the same plays a lot so we wouldn't be showing our playbook to Morgan St.
  14. Did it really say "Akron U"? I wonder how that ever got started
  15. Why a new building for one engineering major? Do they need some kind of elaborate environmental chamber or something? Isn't there enough corrosion inside of Auburn for them to study? Then they could just move the other engineering depts. to the new building...
  16. Scouting the Hoosiers:http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/first-and-...r-for-this.html
  17. All that money could educate a lot more people in more modest facilities; it seems wasteful to me...I guess I'm just becoming more populist in my old age.
  18. Do they even have the Big Ten Network is the question you might want to ask..
  19. End zone fade to Bowser after the Nits fumble the opening kickoff and Zips recover on the 10.Touchdown, Zips !!
  20. He's getting greedy now...wants to cover the point spread. Overconfidence on their part is just what we want.
  21. Before: Yeah, we're the scrappy, rag-tag Zips from the venerable (although decaying) Rubber Bowl out by the blimp hanger where 8-12K fans come to watch us, depending on the weather. After: That's right, we're the big bad Akron Zips from beautiful sold-out Infocision Stadium Summa Field on the ever-cooler campus of the University of Akron !
  22. Does anyone else feel that the Info will help us even when we play on the road? What I mean is that by the team practicing in their new modern "House" that it will maybe stick in the back of their minds when they're away and give them a morale boost and more of a feeling that they belong with "the Bigs"? I just think it has to really help the psyche of the players as well as the coaches...a huge "intangible". If only the PSU game would come down to emotion and intangibles...Go Zips!
  23. Maybe they'll use a color guard on the field or have the band flag/dance corps hold one. At some point though, they'll probably want to have Old Glory waving over the stadium all during the games.
  24. Can't get to Happy Valley nor Akron. ZipsZone not carrying video. I may have to add Big Ten Network to my cable subscription, or try to find a pub that has it. Not sure from game to game if 1350 will have the Frenchie audio or not...are they advertising it? Probably can get the PSU broadcast on my Sirius/XM which is fun for only as long as we're winning and their announcers are worried.Speaking of ZipsZone, looks like they will be video-broadcasting all the games that aren't on ESPNx/BTN, including Morgan, Ohio & Can't at home plus @CMU & @Buffalo. I don't see anything on Syracuse yet. I'm still curious whether they'll have any closed-circuit TV's in the Info (loges, concourses, etc.) or around campus...that would feel bigtime.
  25. Coach Brookhart on the additions of Shane Montgomery and Walt Harris:I think it's been outstanding. The experience between those two is pretty overwhelming. The concern I had initially was the chemistry but it's been great. They are two very good professionals and what they bring is a wealth of experience and it's a huge value to our offense. Walt spent a lot of time with Chris Jacquemain and all our quarterbacks, helping fine-tune them. He really understands what it takes to bring success to that position and I think you'll see improved players.
