I hear he is volunteering. He's probably still got plenty of cash from Notre Dame, Akron and Kansas -- hell he maybe receiving checks from Kansas. BTW did anyone see how much Brady Hoke is going to make not to coach Michigan? $125,000 a year for the next 24 months and $3 million payable within 30 days. With that kind of buy out why not just go coach a High School football team some where and have fun.

Elton Alexander story in yesterday's PD
Big Zip replied to ewbrooman1's topic in Akron Zips Football
I read this article yesterday and thought Elton laid out the facts the same way many of us on this board have done too. I only wish Elton would have taken it a step further and taken a look at next year, what he thinks needs to be done in the offseason and if he believes this team can flip to a bowl team next year. There are a lot of review articles that can be done on this team and I hope GT and Elton address them. -
Game #12 Can't State (Friday Nov 28 @ 1pm)
Big Zip replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips Football
Probably one of the more disheartening losses I have seen in the 26 years I have followed this team. We were so pumped after the Pitt win. We were talking MAC Championship game. I looked ahead to see what day I needed to take off work and this team completely shits the bed. This team needs to visit the great and powerful Oz they have no heart. How do you lose a game against your "rival" who has a single win on the season and you need the win to become bowl eligible. I would fire Wistricill tonight. If this abyss is so deep we still can't get to .500 in the marquee college sport because you hired iCoach it's about time you pack your bags. The new President has no connection to him so the firing should be easier for him. Bowden gets next year from me and then I give up on him too. I am not sure season ticket sales will get worse because the ticket holders left are either so die hard you will never lose them or they see it as charity to their alma mater. You certainly won't get any new ones. GP1 I don't know if the disaster will end. -
I think USC is probably not a very good team but I did like the way the team played today. I particularly thought Forsythe looked as good as I've seen him in a Zips uniform.
-
16 wins brings an end to the 20 game winning streak. A lot of questions going to need to be answered by the youngsters and the veterans. You've lost your best asset who is going to step up? How does this change your game plan? Does Forsythe get added minutes and is he counted on more in the middle? Can Gladden raise him game to reducing the scoring and rebounding loss? What role does Big Dog play in the new look Zips? I think Kretzer and McAdams could be your keys here. If they can drill their long shots it should open the inside for the others. If we don't shoot well from the outside this can become a disaster without a guy who can simply dominate when the teams pack in it.

Is this a .500 team without Tree?

When some of you new to the Zips fans are around for a little while maybe you'll understand the frustration a little better. Perhaps there was a reason Bowden was coaching where he was coaching or perhaps there were other reasons he was out of a job. We'll never know if someone could have done a better job with this team because they hired Bowden. I still don't know if it was a bad decision or not but ignoring the fact that this team has quit on him and has little to no heart is quite delusional. You can't be happy with a better than terrible team because TW gave you the iCoach who was/is possibly the worst coach in the history of college football. I didn't even get a chance to watch a lot of the game last night but what I saw was absolutely pathetic. Amazing the way Buffalo was running on us....it was like we were a high school team getting pushed around by a team that came in on a four game losing streak. BTW we've had other coaches family members on here before and with every post you certainly make me feel like your related to TB. Amazing how just a month ago on this board people we concerned we were going to lose TB....well I don't think you're going to have to worry about that one.
-
I'm on the west coast this week and just got to the hotel about 30 minutes ago. I don't think I realized a team could quit his bad. Talk about having no pride in yourself, your school, your coach etc. These guys have mailed it in against a team that has lost 4 straight. Don't worry though someone on this board recently assured us they'd be 10-2 and Bowden would be seen as the best Div. 1 coach in Akron history.

Balsy so if I'm to take you seriously you are telling me 100% of the student body is different than when I was in school? I promise you there are plenty of traditional students still on campus who do not spend all their hours working and studying and can fit in some partying. Here is what I can tell you...the Homecoming game I brought my family for an alumni event at my Fraternity. They did the event with a sorority. There was probably 200 people in attendance maybe more with parents and I don't think 1/2 of them went to the game. The guys in the Fraternity house could go to the game every week they just don't go because the team has always sucked as far as they know so they'd just assume do something else. I promise you there are many students just like them. What is missing from the Info that was awesome at the Rubber Bowl was the tailgating. There were no preferred parking areas (if there were they weren't way I wanted to be) and when I was an undergraduate then after I graduated tailgating was awesome! It was "must do" partying every Saturday when it was nice. That area doesn't exist anymore. Even the season ticket holders are broken up. One thing they could do is attempt to create an atmosphere for tailgating like there was at the Rubber Bowl. Everyone is so scattered now it takes away from the tailgating. If it was me I'd stop selling passes to the lot behind the scoreboard. I would make it first come first serve and direct everyone who wants to tailgate to park there - designate it as the tailgating lot.

I did a quick google search and found the Seattle Sounders allow umbrellas with the caveat you don't interfere with others enjoyment of the game. Funny how Andrew's issue with not bringing an umbrella is the take away everyone has from his post. Seems there are more important things in there.
-
So by definition because others don't allow umbrellas Akron shouldn't allow umbrellas? That is your answer to a fan who actually signs his name to the post? I suspect most stadiums don't allow umbrellas because it would interfere with site lines for others. That would is not a problem at Akron and I would argue they should allow umbrellas until it becomes an issue. If it is because they can be used as a weapon or something like that well that is just dumb. It wasn't always this way at stadiums.

I voted no because they took the arena out of the deal.
-
Sadly today would have been the day we found out if we got a new basketball arena.
-
I've already promised my daughter the day off school on December 5th if the Zips came make it to the MAC Championship game. Looking forward to the game tomorrow night even though I won't be in attendance. Hoping the team can right the ship.
-
Looking forward to seeing Jordan Cameron suited up on the sidelines for the Browns while in the concussion protocol program of the NFL. Then when they ask Pettine why he didn't play and he says it wouldn't have been fair to just make this all make sense.
-
Nobody in this thread is talking about conspiracy theory we are talking about the facts. I don't believe you dress a player if he shouldn't be playing. If you dress him you are saying he is ready to play. I'm only asking for further explanation and everything I've typed has been simple fact. You on the other hand have offered theories as to why it didn't happen. I'm not offering theories I'm asking for the truth and not willing to buy theories that are simply that theories without any real explanation. When a coach says it wouldn't be fair to play a guy. That says to me he is now coaching with his heart instead of his head and very well could be playing favorites. Fair or not -- inserting Woodson in previous games never seemed to come down to a fair value but all of sudden that is the excuse used for not playing Pohl. Heck I've have loved to see anyone out there in place of Woodson - he was playing terribly and should have been yanked.
-
Balsy you have no evidence for anything the evidence is on the other side. You have a player who was cleared to play, who suited up to play and when the coach was asked why he didn't play responded it that it wouldn't be fair. Those are the facts. The fact that you refuse to acknowledge those facts point toward something else is actually comical.
-
I'm confused why a guy with a concussion would be dressed for a game. I'm not saying there is a conspiracy as some are but you have to admit there are definitely some disconnects here.
-
Seems like there might be opportunity to grab some North Carolina kids if this article leads to sanctions. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-saturday/unc-academic-and-athletic-officials-steered-student-athletes-to-bogus-classes-181214478.html 1,500 student athletes took bogus classes? Hey Terry do us a favor and go get Mitch Trubisky and Brandon Fritts from Mentor...they'd fit your offense very well.
-
You're comical I am a fan that has seen way too much losing since I started at Akron in '88. I just want to not suck. BTW you must simply miss my posts after the win. If you were happy with that performance yesterday then you're an idiot.
-
Same old Zips. Hard to get behind this team when the crap down their leg in a very winnable game. OU is not a good team but the Zips just sucked today. Hard to believe Woodson as a RFreshman is all we got at QB after Pohl. Game plan on both the offense and defense sucked today. No pressure on a walk on QB...nice job Amato. I swear he lets the GAs do the game plans some weeks. I have no idea why we decided to just throw the ball all over with a RFreshman playing QB. Just terrible. Sucks they get you pumped with a win like Pitt, follow it with a solid win against Miami and then just crumble mentally at OU. Top it all off the penalties today were simply atrocious. Need to be smarter than they were today. On a side note that was as good a hair color as Terry has had all year. Looks like he's finally found the right Clairol for his wig.
-
Actually 5 for Chisholm and 5 for Hundley after 3.
-
Can't or won't? They have run 6 times according to George Thomas.
-
Woodson seems to lack that sense of when to step up and avoid the rush. He also some how misses seeing a blitz...it is pretty clear it's coming on TV and he needs to throw the hot read.
-
Maybe Akron is just a bad sports town and sports school...plain and simple.
