  1. Zips have lost 1 game in a row and Miami has lost their last 7...something has to give tonight. By the way Miami has lost 11 of their last 12...no excuses tonight...no going down by even one...Akron needs to lead this one wire to wire.
  2. @GameChanger if they were exhausted tonight should we expect another loss on Tuesday. That is an awful quick turnaround. Listen I'm not doubting you the team was exhausted and people were sick but I think this happens to all teams at this point in the season. It was a loss plain and simple...no excuses for why. Were the exhausted when this team beat us silly for most of the game at home? This is a bad match-up for the Zips and I hope they end up on the other side of the bracket come the tournament because we struggle with Buffalo plain and simple. Exhausted or not...sick or not we struggle with them. It's a loss and now the boys need to move on and start a new win streak! Everyone here regardless of their frustration level has their back. The people on this board (even though it may not always seem that way) love these kids and are proud of them. This is still the team that can will us proud come tourney time. We're all looking forward to seeing win Akron's first game in the Big Dance and then our second game.
  3. This wasn't a trap game...Buffalo matches up really tough for us. We struggle against them always in Buffalo and we struggled big time against them at home. What I don't understand is how Buffalo doesn't have a better record? They have some real talented kids on that team. McCrea is a beast and I really wish he was graduating this year. Buffalo played great against us this year...don't forget they beat us last year. Reggie knows something about us that others apparently don't. Hats off to Buffalo on a great win. Zips time to start a new streak on Tuesday and finish the season with four consecutive wins.
  4. Pretty stubborn not to switch to zone. They burnt us at home when we played man then we played zone to stop them.
  5. An 11 seed in my opinion says he thinks we are between the 41st and 44th best team in the country. This team deserves to play in the tournament and it will be a sad day if they lose out somehow. How is a loss to Penn State going to impact Michigan? Shouldn't a loss to a terrible team (defeated in their own conference) have some impact on your seeding? Hell it seems Middle Tennessee State seems to get more love than we do at times and we beat them.
  6. Quite interesting that Gladden is the leading scorer on that team because he is the sixth man.
  7. This team blew me away tonight. I thought they were done when the fell apart in the beginning and they proved me wrong! I promise I will no doubt these boys again their heart tonight was huge!
  8. Streaming goes out in OT.
  9. How do you not go to the replay for the out of bounds call?
  10. Stop guarding Cooper with the f&*king center....just stop it!
  11. I like the OU announcers but every time OU goes down six they say OU is in trouble. Really? Are we watching the same game?
  12. Great game...we are in the bonus and for most teams that is a good thing. I'm not sure it is for these guys.
  13. What an insane game! I'm exhausted watching.
  14. So they've outscored us 32-7....stick a fork in the Zips they are done. This ain't Buffalo. OU is outhustling us and simply outplaying us all over the court.
  15. Nothing like a 9-0 run to start and then 4-22 run to fall behind by the original 9.
  16. I hate hate hate Zeke guarding outside? Nothing like taking your biggest rebounding strength and basically nullifying him all by yourself.
  17. What a great day to be a member of the Zips Nation! The funny thing about rankings that never seem to pan out...a 24 ranking indicates you are a 6 seed. Yet if we win out and are ranked in the top 20 at the end of the year I doubt we'll get better than a 10 seed (a 40th ranking!). The OU game is so big on Wednesday! I hope this team doesn't let this go to their head and walks into Athens with a chip on the shoulder knowing they need to walk out of their with a victory.
  18. It was nice to see the best student support for an Akron game in the Dambrodt era but we still had less than a 1K. At UM this was awesome, amazing and fun all in the same breath! Enjoy!
  19. Zen I think you leave out one key point. OU is not coached by Groce any longer they are coached by Christian. If Akron wins in Athens does it make OU question Christian? After the first game this season KD is 5-6 lifetime vs Christian coached teams. I'm looking forward to this game more than I've looked to any regular season game in a long time. All in all I believe these two teams are unfortunately playing in the MAC because both teams are better than this conference and deserve better.
  20. He would have been better if he was a wind up toy that after you wind him up he crouches down and then jumps in the air.
  21. DiG you're absolutely correct our schedule could have been better but the opportune word is "could". Other teams have injuries and deal with them so we need to really not complain about injuries and the fact that we were never told if someone lost there job over the Harney/Tree debacle at the beginning of the year is a travesty. If we hire and continue to employ people whose mistakes make things harder for us we are doing a disservice to our student athletes and showing them there is no consequence for failure. I know we've talked about scheduling plenty on here and for the most part the schedule is getting better. I really want to see this team continue to schedule perennial winners. I'd like to see some marquee games on the schedule annually. Additionally, I just don't understand how other schools get big schools to come to their place -- BGSU hosted Michigan State, EMU hosted Purdue, Buffalo hosted Temple yet the best we've been able to get here is who?
  22. Look I'm not an OSU fan and can't stand watching Akron people calling Akron U or rooting for Ohio State but the reason they play cupcakes in the OOC is because their regular season is a real league. In basketball we should follow the exact opposite approach - we should schedule the tough games in our OOC so that our cupcake in schedule conference games don't look as bad. Just flip their scheduling routine. Also, quit bitching about OSU's cupcake schedule when we can't even win our cupcake games against schools like Coastal Carolina. What would our RPI be if we had beaten Coastal Carolina and Detroit? What if our only losses were to ranked teams? What if we had played better competition and won some games? Listen our preseason schedule basically sucked this year. We have so few wins to hang our hat on. We really need to schedule better and quit bitching about conferences that are afforded the ability to schedule cupcakes because they have to play tough teams during league play. By the way OSU's cupcake schedule included Duke and Kansas. We we need to schedule more like them.
  23. Based on the tweet it looks like Deji is going to get the opportunity.
  24. Just checked ticketmaster for tickets and I was happy to see only 2 tickets left in the lower reserve...both singles. Upper reserve (outside of the ends) had some sporadic single seats but the ends higher up had plenty plenty of seating. Looking forward to another 5K to watch the Zips take down NDSU.
  25. Seth Davis has Akron as the Flavor of the Week. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/college-b...reak/index.html Flavor of the Week: Akron As you can see below, I have included Akron on my AP ballot for the third straight week. I don't know if my fellow voters are going to follow suit, but I promise it is no accident this team is undefeated in the Mid-American Conference with a 12-0 record (21-4 overall). The Zips' 17-game winning streak is the longest active streak in the nation and the second longest by any team this season. They are winning thanks to one of the best inside-outside tandems in the country. Senior center Zeke Marshall is the all-time career blocks leader in MAC history and currently ranks fifth in the nation at 3.48 blocks per game. Junior point guard Alex Abreu is on pace to break school records in assists for both a season and a career. He currently leads the MAC in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.16-to-1) and is second in both assists (6.0) and three-point percentage (39.8). Mostly, the Zips are on this streak because they have played lockdown defense, holding 17 of their 25 opponents to 65 points or fewer. In other words, Akron excels inside and out, as well as on both ends of the floor. Does that sound like a team you'd like to see in your first NCAA tournament game?
