  1. I'm a little surprised that Buffalo hasn't gotten any votes at all. They should at least be in the ORV category.
  2. Buffalo made an ESPNU game (against SDSU) and OU made an ESPN3 game (against UNCA). MAC tied with CAA for the second most televised games.
  3. While we were all watching the selection, scrolling across the bottom of the screen was that Zips football recruit Willie Henry committed to Michigan. The others in the mix were Akron, Cincinnati, Lousiville, Pitt and Toledo. At least Coach Bowden is aiming high too. Lunardi also mentioned that best RPI win in the entire CAA this year was VCU's win at Akron.
  4. 2:00 Saturday on ESPN/ESPN2.
  5. ORU is a pretty good draw.
  6. There's a right way and a wrong way to do it. Maybe you only know the wrong way.
  7. What, it wasn't enough to knock us out of the tourney and then not have the decency to win the whole thing? And now you have to take a few players? Looks like the start of a potential rivalry to me. Anyway, it looks pretty likely. You can see a little more of that discussion here.
  8. Texas. I tried to set this up through the Akron bookstore, but they couldn't figure out how to do it so I just sent a message directly to the family so I could get him one.
  9. I often check Bobby Bowden's Account on Facebook since he has turned into such a big Zips booster. There is a woman on there who's last name is Zipp and gave her kid the first name of Bowden. Bobby liked the connection and said we should get the kid a Zips T-Shirt. I completely agree. Heck I'll pay for it and shipping it. I think we should take advantage of even little opportunities like this. I'll call the marketing department to see if I can make this happen.
  10. UNI lost so we'll likely pop ahead of them. They must have had a tough OOC schedule because they are now 4-7 in the MVC. Not terribly impressive. Wichita St. also lost but they were pretty far ahead anyway. Looks like Oral Roberts, Iona or Davidson. That also means a TV game is pretty well assured.
  11. Five guys scored all of CMU's points. Two of their starters and four reserves didn't score a single point. Strange box score.
  12. Maybe CMU could borrow a few players from the women's team. They look like they have some fight in them. Too bad this isn't a home game to give the Rowdies some fodder. One good note, if the Zips can slip out of town with a win tonight, 6 of the last 9 league games will be at the JAR (of course, none of the three away games will be particularly easy).
  13. I saw a signature on the OU board that said in effect "I hate Miami, but I'd give Charlie Coles a kidney". I think Charlie is great (well except that maddening slow style of play). Hate to see him end like this, regardless of what the reasons are.
  14. One clarification point - under BGSU, it was stated "They don't shoot the three much (303 attempts in 5 games)". That would be an enormous number of threes, one on almost every possession, so that's likely just a typo. But I didn't realize how slow EMU is, they wouldn't even get 60 attempts in a game. When EMU plays Miami, whats the over likely to be? 40?
  15. 6 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal in 18 minutes still pretty productive. 11-19 shooting in his lat two games also pretty productive.
  16. Buffalo hammered EMU so both MAC West leaders are now 4-2. Zips once again lead the pack no matter what happens tomorrow.
  17. Are we required by MAC contract to be down at every half? Heating up has begun. Q with a quick 4.
  18. I think it's just a prediction. They could be right.
  19. How did we manage to escape with a win with Harney only playing 14 minutes? Oh yeah, because as Dave pointed out, he scored 19 points in 9 minutes in the second half. You get half credit if his points exceed your minutes estimate. And the Zips still get the win. I think you might be onto something. He might be good.
  20. And all Patriots fans should address theirs to Billy Cundiff.
  21. Sad to see JoePa's passing. What a terrible year for Penn State.
  22. I wish the Zips had Ball State at home or didn't draw them first but if the Zips defeat them at Muncie, they should be able to sweep the West (although I'm sure one unexpected loss will pop up). Ball State has a tough draw, they go to Can't, Buffalo and Ohio. 3-3 might be very realistic against the East.
  23. I'm not a huge hockey fan and wasn't quite sure where to put this, but maybe it will give the club team a little more attention (and maybe they might even want to try it). Have it give it to our conference mates (even if there is no MAC hockey conference), as Western Michigan pulled off a really slick goal. They passed to the middle player who made it look like he was letting loose a wicked slap shot, but in reality let the puck slide past him to his teammate who did unload a wicked goal scoring slapshot. Well done Broncos!
  24. While its nice to see the Zips beat other schools for a recruit, many folks believe that MAC coaches need to find the diamond in the rough that other schools may have overlooked. Maybe this is one of those.
  25. They're far from all new coaches but I ran across this quiz on MAC coaches. You try to name as many as you can in 12 minutes, for everyone who has ever been a head coach in the MAC. I gave up after getting about 2 dozen (including getting lucky on a WMU coach named Gil when I typed Turner Gill's name wrong). I did get all of the Akron coaches correct. Bowden is included. A lot of big names who started in the MAC.
