  1. Gutty, gutty second half for the Zips. Congrats to the
  2. Welcome back Chauncey Gilliam! And beautiful lob and dunk from AA to Zeke.
  3. 20-2 run. Wow! More points than in the whole first half.
  4. You may want to turn it back on. Zips within one.
  5. Well at least our points (18) are higher than our turnovers (14). Lowest first half point total of the season. Un-f***king believable. Way to turn it on at the end of the season. Looks like their first game of the game of the year. No wait, their first game was fantastic, maybe they are playing the season in reverse.
  6. 7:23 left in the first half. 1st LeBron reference.
  7. Ten minutes. Ten points. Seven turnovers. Terrible.
  8. Funny thing is the ESPN2 feed has been choppy. The announcers even mentioned it.
  9. Disappointing but not devastating. Zips fate is still in their hands. Can't did us a favor by eliminating the Bongcats from beating us out of a top seed so even with a complete collapse and a Buffalo win over BGSU, the Zips still have a top two seed. I'm also worried but the sky is not falling yet. We've gone into the MAC tourney in a lot worse shape than this (even if we do drop to the two seed).
  10. Great to see Brett drop in a three on senior night too.
  11. I haven't had a single problem with it so far.
  12. Other than a traveling call, nice start by Nik on senior night.
  13. Holy crap, we have a womens team too? Then that headline would be completely correct. Apologies, News Collector.
  14. The news collector is even more pessimistic than some on this site. It is only hoping for a home game in the first round (which is not possible since the Zips have already clinched a top three seed). I would hope even the News Collector would have hope that a win clinches the double bye and the number one seed. Which I fully believe will happen, the Bulls are not a good road team (losses at Miami, Ohio and Can't). UA looks to secure a home game in the first round of the MAC Tournament with a senior night win over Buffalo Tuesday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the JAR View the full article at www.GoZips.com
  15. The Oscars and NBA All-Star game are on. Maybe there aren't that many people watching. Figured we were due for a down game but not this bad.
  16. Yep. Dammit.
  17. I'm here, just been busy. Akron's wrestling program was far from great when it was eliminated in 1981 but it certainly was improving, and with all of the local talent, I have no doubt it could have become competitive on a national scene as well. All sports at Universities now pretty much boil down to Title IX issues (and as much good as that has done for women's athletics, it surely has eliminated a lot of opportunities for men, which was not the intent but was the effect). The really unfortuante part is all the "Olympic sports" have been sacrificed in the name of football, because football rosters are so big they force a multitude of womens sports to compensate and then there is very little left over for the men. Too bad there isn't some sort of football exemption. I think if you look around the MAC, that is in force in the entire conference. I just saw the men won an indoor track title (over only four other schools), the women have all 12, same goes in soccer and in tennis and all mens sports except football, basketball and baseball. That's kind of a sad result.
  18. If they win Sunday they can still cut down the nets at home (win or lose ).
  19. The NCAA also "protects" the top four seeds by allowing them to play closer to home. Since the Zips have drawn top 4 seeds, that's why they always seem to play a "road" game.
  20. I saw that Bobcatattack.com has started a thread already. The interesting thing is they have already predicted a Zips victory (though I don't know how they did it without increasing our overall win total). They also nicely gave a shout out to Zipsnation. Use this thread to talk about anything game-related. Date: February 26th, 2012 8:00 PM Opponent: Akron (20-8, 13-1 MAC) Site: Convocation Center TV: ESPNU Radio: Ohio Radio Webcast: Free at OhioBobcats.com Akron's media guide, roster and statistics. Fan site: ZipsNation -------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a big game and should be a really good one.
  21. Just did some quick checking to see what would happen if we did end up tied with anyone. We would not get the number 1 seed no matter what. UA ties only Buffalo: Buffalo the 1 seed based on a 2-0 record against the Zips. UA ties only OU: OU the one seed based on a better record against whomever comes in third (OU is 2-0 vs Buffalo, and would be 2-0 vs Can't, Akron would be 1-1 against Can't and 0-2 against Buffalo) UA ties only Can't: Can't would get the #1 seed and UA the #2. They would be 1-1 against each other so it would drop back to the best record against the next best seed. Can't would be 1-1 against Buffalo and UA would be 0-2. Can't would be 1-1 against OU and UA would also be 1-1, so it would revert to the best record against Buffalo. UA ties Buffalo and OU: OU would be the one seed, Buffalo the two and Akron the 3 (Against each other, OU would be 3-1, Buffalo would be 2-2 and Akron would be 1-3). UA ties Buffalo and Cant: Buffalo would be the one seed, Can't the two and Akron the three: Record against each other. Buffalo would be 3-1, Can't 2-2 and Akron 1-3. The Zips must win one of the last three games to get the one seed. There is some outside chance that BGSU or EMU (or even WMU) could factor in to all of this but I considered those chances to be small enough not to consider.
  22. Best case scenario: Zips win out and go storming into the MAC tournament. I don't think it's going to be that easy. Worst case scenario: The three seed is the worst case (OU and Can't still have to play so one of them will finish lower than the Zips). But if the worst happens and the Zips lose all three games (and Buffalo, OU and Can't dont lose any more other that the loser of Can't-OU), I believe the tiebreakers would favor Buffalo and the winner of Can't-OU. What the Zips really need is to beat Buffalo. That obviously clinches the top seed no matter what. The OU and Can't games are going to be tough ones but I still expect the Zips to win at least one. Among the other three top seeds, I don't have much of a preference who we'd play at the Q. All of them bring something to worry about. I'd also like to see Miami and BGSU on opposite sides in the lower bracket just to see the final six teams all be from the MAC East (though I believe both Toldeo and WMU have a reasonable shot at being in the final 6).
  23. So does that mean the Zips are now a "good loss" for Mississippi St.?
  24. That's probably because she isn't. The way they asked her the question was a little misleading. They were looking for the active player but didn't ask it that way. Her answer of Kara Murphy was correct. Rachel wasn't in the top ten before this season started and then was injured early in the season. She's ranked in the points per game statistic but that's about it. The show is well done but they need to get their facts straight. They also reported that Zeke Marshall still trails Romeo Travis in career blocked shots. Zeke passed Romeo very early this season.
  25. I know Akron (and Can't) have been terrible, but I really hope you meant BCS program.
