Don't ever want to get so complacent about Zips soccer that we don't have a game thread. Zips up 1-0 on a Thomas Schmitt goal.

After seeing today's results, the Zips had better win at least 2 of the remaining six, minimum. Four teams just as bad as us and two others that aren't exactly playing like juggernauts. OU loses to Ball State (and Buffalo and barely beats Can't). Can't and Mami played the pillow fight of the week, 9-3. Buffalo loses 34-0 to Temple. EMU beat CMU, Western gets destroyed by NIU. The opportunity is there boys - take it!

Nice article. I like the photos included. Speaking of that...shouldn't that face be plastered all over Akron? I want to see this one on a billboard with just the caption "Zeke!" using the stylized Z. Like it, but I'd rather see the one of him blocking Rodriguez's shot at the end of the MAC Championship game (and then just the number "9" quietly underneath). And while I'm dreaming I'd like the Can't State board quote during the championship game of "Marshall's only a sophomore. Crap!" included as well.

Ties are not ignored - they count as both half a win and half a loss, so in your example the adjusted winning perecentage would be 98.5/100 matches = .985 winning percentage. If the ties were ignored it would be 98/99 or a .989 winning percentage. The Zips right now are 9-1-2 so they have a 10/12 adjusted winning percentage of .833. If the ties were ignored, it would be .900. So the ties help and hurt as it should be.

1-0 final. Not awe inspiring, but a win regardless.

They apparently came up with a new list this year, just called the 100 hottest fan bases. A shot of the Zips Cheerleaders made the list at #97.

You said it, not me. What... that is no "O" or are you suggesting something else?? That reminds me of a couple years ago, I texted my sister to see if she wanted to come to a Zips football game. She texted back "fu". A few moments later I got another text that said "n! - there was supposed to be an n on the end of that". Could have worked either way, I guess.

Decent but not a huge crowd - certainly nowhere near an NCAA record - too bad the Gauchos weren't a little stronger coming in, they might have made it. I do see a few tortillas on the field. Were those thrown after the Zips scored?

Capital One changed their criteria. A soccer championship is now worth the same as football or basketball.

Poor Perry, he got in another video he'd probably rather not have been part of. This was posted on SI Hotclicks because the Philadelphia Union player who scored mimics the AT&T Flashmob guy. Perry shows up at about 32 seconds in and says what appears to be a word that would be banned on Zipsnation. Doesn't look like Perry was even directly responsible for giving up the goal.

You're in luck since the MAC just decided to provide free streaming for many, many events for UA and other MAC schools. Here the link to the UA Fall sports broadcast schedule. I would expect to see a similar list released for the winter sports soon.

You know, I did not have huge expectations for this year. I expected to win the MAC, make the NCAA tournament and perhaps win a game or two. Normally those would be very high expectations but not for this program. How many teams could continue to compete at a very high level after losing 7 key starters from the year before? After seeing the whole package (including Luke), though, I absolutely would not rule out the Zips making another run to the College Cup. And that is just amazing.

Pretty impressive to be named National Player of the week the very first week you play in the NCAA. Wow.
