  1. So the Zips make a post-season apperance in four of the last five years. Unless you're a top-level program, that's still not bad. And the irony is that the one team that didn't was arguably the best of the five.
  2. Was also nice just to see the brothers celebrate with each other just as the game ended.
  3. If I had coached that game, we would have lost by 30.
  4. Gotta give Steve McNees a lot of credit too, excellent ballhandling, fearless drive to the hoop (it should have droipped) to even get us into that position. Steve is doing a lot of things well in this tournament.
  5. Man, Miami is playing awful, Down 41-26 with 7 minutes left. Looks like it's going to be the Bobcats.
  6. The semifinal loss to BGSU was pretty disappointing since they weren't competitive at all, but someone needs to give a shoutout to the ladies on a great season. They could well be following the same path as the men, making those incremental improvements every year. Interesting quote from BGSU coach Curt Miller about Coach Kest:When asked his thoughts on Kest's coaching performance during the past four years, Miller said ''Amazing.''''Jodi has done it the right way,'' he continued. ''It is all about class. She is the coach of the year [in the MAC] for a reason. She is a brilliant tactician.''She had some very talented players when she took over, but some of them lacked good character. She has rebuilt the entire core by going out and getting strong character kids. That program is a not a one-hit wonder. They will continue to be in the mix.''Interesting because he took one of those "problem players" he is referring to. But he is certainly right that the ZSips are not likely to be at the end of their run.
  7. Riflenaughts, Last time we heard from you Sarah was a first alternate and was highly unlikely to get in (after we first heard she was in). How did she get in? Did someone else drop? I think there may be too many politics in the NCAA rifle championship selections.
  8. Joe has us in as a 14 seed against Baylor. While its nice to see our name in there, its even nicer to see that Cant is finally out.
  9. See this thread:http://zipsnation.org/forums//index.php?showtopic=17650
  10. I was going to add a thread titled "That wasn't Kool". Man I really thought that last three was going down. Four straight years in the MAC final. Heck of an accomplishment. C'mon Zips, blow out the birdies or kitties so we can take a breath. Quite honestly, I think we match up better with the RedHawks plus a little payback for them might be nice.
  11. Would hate to be a 14 seed, but all of the 13's are on the West Coast. At least the 3/14 sites are a lot closer to get more Zips fans there.
  12. Pretty prescient for the folks at the top of this thread. If the Zips win it, I predict another 13 seed, Miami or OU a 14 seed and probably a 15 if WMU improbably wins it. In the best interest of the MAC now, we all need the Zips to win it!
  13. As I believe Casey Stengel once said "The key to management is to keep the five guys that hate you away from the five guys who are undecided".
  14. Down go the Flushes! Or is that getting flushed down? Enjoy the NIT because someone else is going to the big dance. Cmon Zips it couldn't be set up any better for you!
  15. I think he just wants to make a push for a second consecutive all-MAC tournament team.
  16. Zips up only 7, Cvetinovic and C. mcKnight have both fouled out. 5:15 left. Hang on. Zeke is both the leading Zips scorer and rebounder.
  17. And whose companies don't block ESPN360. D'oh. At least I can listen to Frenchy.
  18. That thing that most amazes me - JohnnyZip reads the Wall Street Journal?
  19. And you forgot to mention, after they found out you were actually enrolled in the college of Education.
  20. Since we mentioned Coach Kest as MAC coach of the year in the MAC awards, don't leave out Rachel Tecca, who as a freshman was named sixth "man" of the year. But congratulations to Coach Kest, could anyone have predcited this one when she elected to rid her program of the players who apparently didn't want to be a part of it? Sometimes "my way or the highway" is the only option you have, especially when trying to resurrect a moribund program like the Lady Zips basketball team. In the article it said that the Zips are working on the third best defensive season in MAC ever.Congratulations Jodi, I am in awe of what you have done in a very short time.
  21. Don't care if I get bashed on this one, I completely agree with Fl.a.sh here. For those of us that were alive and remember it, it was horrific (and by the way, for those of you that don't know the National Guard was also on Akron's campus that day, the same thing "could" have happened at Akron as well). That day also changed K.S.U. permanently, for years after that it was known as the place to go if you had a beef with anything, regardless of whether you were a student or it had anything to do with the University. That perception (and maybe reality) persists to this day.I love the rivalry with Can't, I love the cleverness of coming up with original things and making fun of each other, but's that one thing that really doesn't have any business in the rivalry.
  22. Dambrot was 2nd to Geno Ford (and by a narrower margin than I would have expected at 13-10) in the Coach of the Year voting.
  23. ESPN has all four quarterfinal games as being shown on ESPN 360.
  24. Its has to be OU to knock out Can't in the Quarterfinals, and if that happens, don't care if it is Miami, Buffalo or OU we'd see in the final.
  25. Here is the reason for hope. Final of the Atlantic Sun tournament #5 ETSU over #6 Mercer. You never know how it is going to end up. While I think the tournaments are an awful way to determine the league champ, as long as the Zips are not the #1 seed, I am fine with it. I also saw that Hunter Yurachek's Chanticleers almost made it. They were the Big South #1 seed, so at least they have the NIT. By the way, did anyone else hear the Dukies chanting "NIT" at UNC? Pretty brutal. It will give a smaller school a chance to knock off UNC in a down year. Enough random thoughts for now. Hey look, a squirrel!
