As much as we all would have liked to have been Miami this year, the fact that they continue to do well reflects well on the conference and continues to get publicity. The CBS article I linked talks about their chances of making it as at large, but Akron gets a number of mentions. If we end up meeting them in the final of the tournament and beat them, that's going to reflect very well on the Zips. There will be a lot of talk about them knocking off Miami and making the NCAA tournament 4 out of 5 years.

Looking at the current likely MAC seedings, its not likely we'll finish in front of Miami or behind KSU so the seven seed is our likely opponent. Going to root to UMass to take over the six seed to take on KSU in round 1 to beat on each other, which would probably give us BGSU in round 1, whom we don't even rent, we own.

In my wish world, Akron takes on unbeaten Miami in the MAC final and beats them on a banked three pointer with no time left on the clock.

Since they are football only it won't have much affect on schedules since you don't play everyone anyway. And now the MAC is really big time because just like the B1G and ACC, the reach is literally across the entire country.

Calling it now - I think UMass gives Miami loss number 1 at home next Tuesday.
