Louisville sold it's soul in pursuit of athletic glory. Pitino and Petrino are two of the scummiest coaches in all of college athletics. I hope Louisville goes down hard.

NIU didn't seem too intimidated. Though I should have actually quoted kreed.

Just saw an E60 program about the blind Long Snapper who is at USC. Fitschen was his kicker in high school.

Who is going to the Penn State game - where will you be?
MDZip replied to Phootss's topic in Akron Zips Football
I'm going to be in central New York for a different purpose this weekend so against my better judgement I'm going to stop by for the game on my way. Found a seat on the 50 yard line on the Zips sideline 5 rows back from the field for $60 (plus Stubhub Fees). -
Nicely done "Captian". ;-)

skip, nope actually not what I was driving at, maybe a should have explained a little more. I don't think what we do likely matters too much in terms of motivation, that's more up to the individual and coaches. I was implying more that since it appears players (from any team) probably do check the board at least occasionally (and we know so do recruits and parents of recruits) that perhaps a group of boosters that appear to support UoFA athletics might be a good front door for all of them. Your opinion certainly has some validity since Zach mentioned he did get some motivation by being called Rudy, but that's not that much of a criticism. But if I'm an athlete at UofA (or a recruit considering UofA) and I see the primary booster group bitching and moaning about how awful UofA athletics is perceived to be by the people who support it most, it might give me second thoughts about whether I'd made or was making the right choice. Certainly a time and place for well-warranted criticism but that was more my point of trying to paint a positive picture of UofA being a good supportive place (as opposed to a safe space ;-)).

A really good reason right there to stay as positive as we can on this board.

It has been claimed.

If anyone wants to see Taylor get his jacket during the Gold Jacket dinner at the Canton Civic Center, we still do have one open seat. First one to PM me that wants it gets it. $135.

Why not, time to play along. @ Penn State - Zips lose in a blowout. Penn State is Top Ten material this year. Other years we've played them they have been significantly less talented. 0 - 1 vs. APB - Better be a win. 1 - 1 vs. Iowa State - Much better team than people think, Even at our place, a loss. 1 - 2 @ Troy - If it was at home I might give it to the Zips. It's not. 1-3 @ Bowling Green - Finally get the BUGS off our back. ;-). 2-3 vs. Ball State - At home and BSU is not particularly good right now, Zips. 3 - 3 @ Western Michigan - Lot of talent left from a Big Six bowl appearance. And at WMU. Loss. 3 - 4 @. Toledo - The future Western Champion soundly beats the Zips, and prompts a ZNO hyperbolic meltdown after losing 2-straight. 3 - 5 vs. Buffalo - Buffalo is bad, alternate year, Zips win. 4-5 @ Miami - Miami is absolutely a team on the rise, I think they win the East this year. 4-6 vs. Ohio - Here's this years disappointing loss. Last second field goal knocks the Zips out of bowl contention. 4-7 vs. Kent - Zips feel a little better winning the Wagon Wheel again. 5-7 again.

I am so disappointed that the University seems to be doing nothing around Taylors induction (other than honoring him against Iowa State). First player (and probably only for a very long time) from the closest FBS University to the PFHOF and I've heard nothing about it. Has anyone seen anything the Athletic department doing anything associated with it? At the very least I hoped they would have reserved something for alums to attend together. It's exactly why I set it all up myself. I guess we'll be the official Akron table. Maybe I should contact the Athletic department so we can get something for the table to make it look like the University at least cares. Geez.
-
It's confirmed. We have a table. I believe we still have one open seat. If all of you who have confirmed can p.m. me to say that you're still in I would appreciate it. I'm actually in Alaska at the moment so I'll pay for the table for now and give instructions to those of you that confirm that you are in.
-
Ok that's it, we move the entire Akron campus to Williston, ND. Lots of oil workers again and no competing interests. That should solve the attendance problem.
-
Very minor point but I think the Pirates are still considered a pro team. :-)
-
I just heard back from them and was told she believes she will be able to accommodate my request and should know in the next week or so.
-
I put the request in in April and have called a couple of times to see where it stands with no response back yet. I'll try again today.

Here's an older article from Van Delay sports that has a start on it. Guess it depends on whether you want to count only what they did in the MAC or the rest of their career as well. Unsurprisingly lots of Miami. No Zips :-( Wayne "Woody" Hayes Miami University, 1949-1950 Glenn "Bo" Schembechler Miami University, 1963-1968 Ara Parseghian Miami University, 1951-1955 Jim Grobe Ohio University, 1995-2000 Urban Meyer Bowling Green, 2001-2002 Randy Walker Miami University, 1990-1998 Terry Hoeppner Miami University, 1999-2004 Joe Novak Gary Pinkel Tom Amstutz Glen Mason John Pont Bill Mallory Earl "Red" Blaik

What an outstanding young man. Love to see kids like that coming to Akron especially for corrosion engineering. -
Or maybe ZipsVoice letter did some good?

Athlon Sports ranks Tommy 67th best QB (in terms of teams) in the country. Highest of all MAC QB's. Lets hope they're right and he's healthy.

Most interesting thing I learned was that Jojo's real name is Bruce.

While Toledo has been one of the better teams over time their last championship (and even last MAC Championship appearance) was before Akron's.
