And LCJ should be tied as the fourth leading scorer in MAC games but for some reason the league seems disinclined to include his 26 point game as that is the one they have excluded as they have listed him as participating in only three games. ?

He's a junior who has actually graduated but we do expect to see him again next year. Might be a perfect situation.

And one other fun note on this, even though its really early four games into the season Zips own four of the top six margins of victory in the conference at 24 (EMU), 23 (NIU), and 15 (WMU and BSU). The two others belong to Ball State (20, Buffalo and 17, EMU) and the Zips as noted own a 15 point victory over them. If the transitive property held the Zips should have been only 7 better the Ball State. ? But I have a feeling Ball State is going to finish in the top four at the end of the year.

In a way I'm disappointed the Flushes lost because I'd like to add another reasonably highly ranked team to the resume. But then again they are the Flushes. ?

And the last two MAC undefeateds - Pinky (Kent) and the Brain (Zips). CMU closed it to a point late against the fightin' Pinky's but couldn't quite pull it out.

Time for some updates? I think AZ71 got several things right and few wrong but for the beginning of the season, not bad. 1. Athletic team - no doubt 2. Reece - nice player, might have been a tad early to declare beast mode. ? 3. Williams has been very consistent and a critical part of the team. Does everything pretty well. 4. Tribble has been good but a think it'll take a few more years to declare him Akron's best point guard ever. ? 5. Cheese (and Channel Banks) have both been critical players. 6. Riak not most improved (going to give that to LCJ) but has played his role well. 7. LCJ has been the best surprise. Playing under control, leading the team good shot selection. Never would have guessed he would lead the team in scoring. 8. Been an excellent year so far.

Then you might like this even better, Zips are all the way up to #42 in the NET rankings which is one of the tools the NCAA selection committee uses. If they can beat a good Ball State team tonight they should inch into the thirties. For comparison purposes BSU is the third ranked MAC team at 119. This is the first year I can remember in a long time where the Zips haven't had a least one disappointing loss to a low level team. Their losses are to teams ranked 11th, 17th and 27th. One of the reasons they are still up pretty high. Go Zips!

Completely meaningless of course but the Zips are currently listed as a 12 seed in Bracketology.
