  1. Good maybe she can get a job at a towing company. But my luck is, since she's local to me, she'll end up on one of the regional sports networks here.
  2. She's not on the list darn it. :-( Yeah I remember the towing incident and that didn't help my impression of her but I think she's a terrible reporter and I hate listening to her. If she didn't have that face would she have that job? Doubt it. And could this signal the start of the end of the sports bubble? Lots of ramifications here. Hey what was this topic about?
  3. Please have Britt McHenry on that list. I think she's awful.
  4. Or a slightly more recent one on Kostelac. Take the sources for what they're worth but this looks reasonably reliable.
  5. Apparently Kostelac is coming too.
  6. Those are two great venues although in December in North Carolina the weather can get a little dicey.
  7. Shh don't tell them I skipped it, they might come back and take my diploma away. If you were part of the honors program you did not have to take them.
  8. Never took either. Now I feel left out.
  9. Sometimes moving on from a large BM can be a bit of a relief and can remove a distraction that kept you from concentrating on more important things. You'll feel better after its done.
  10. Wow, a lot of discussion over one unsubstantiated vague claim.
  11. Lets just throw everything into this thread. :-) Charlie Spikes was used as a reference in Cheers as the player Sam Malone almost ended his career against. :).
  12. Already had a job by then. My employer paid for my masters.
  13. I think I've told this story before but maybe it bears repeating. Got my undergrad in computer science from Akron. Went to grad school at Johns Hopkins (fully admit at least partly because of the name). Its not completely a fair comparison because I was going part time in the evenings. I think Hopkins is a great school but I will tell you Akron blew Hopkins program away. I will also say that the name on the diploma might matter a little when you're looking for a job but once you're in a job, performance way overshadows background for what's important.
  14. Still at six but I took the risk and asked for a table of eight. Gotta be able to find two more people that would like to go. Its just a request not a guarantee so I will let you know when and what I hear back from the Canton Civic Center.
  15. If there is anyone who would be aware of this it would certainly be you.
  16. I assume it was from this story on Cleveland.com.
  17. Yep, you know what the penalty for animal cruelty is in that state?
  18. Short ESPN story on it.
  19. Good article on an Ohio alum point of view on the hire. Let's get this thing going!
  20. Reggie McAdams (in Civil Engineering!) three straight years and Jake Kretzer for his final two. Carmelo Betancourt in 13-14. Brian Walsh three times(with a 4.0 in his senior year) Steve McNees (also with a 4.0) and Mike Bardo in 10-11. I think before 2009 there were only spots for the top five players but then they loosened it up to anyone who had over a 3.2 and played in at least 50% of the teams games. BTW this years women's team had three - Alli Ball, Hannah Plybon and Megan Sefcik.
  21. Shoot really hate to lose a kid like that. Now that Groce is a here maybe a reverse full court press and convince his brother to come here? The one thing about those teams is you usually don't see a lot of the top players in the league on it so have to hand to James Thompson IV. The only MAC player to be named to any of the postseason All_MAC teams and also the academic. Also have to admit he'd not the first guy that would have come to mind for that so kudos to him.
  22. Agreed also love some of the angst coming from Athens over it. Should make the rivalry even more fun. I loved one of their posters who stated the difference between Groce and Dambrot could be that they'd rather have Mr. March coaching than Mr. February. I think that was always what frustrated Zips fans, fantastic starts (with the exception you could almost always count on one head scratching early season loss) followed by fizzling finishes. But what really makes me want to have this work is the arrogance on the Ohio board. Most think we've made a good hire but some are convinced that because of facilities, city, "lesser education" that Groce won't do as well as well here. Hate that elitist attitude, quite frankly education at most schools is what you make of it and almost every school is roughly equivalent now. There are really only a few true standouts. As though they are somehow the Ivy equivalent in the MAC. I will give them the Ivy equivalent of the Appalachians if it makes them feel better. And this from someone whom I may have mentioned had a great uncle who was once President of OU.
  23. Not that it matters a great deal but Keith's first year was 04-05 when Ohio won the tournament, so in Keith's 13 years Akron, Kent and Ohio all won it three times. I'm not going to run down Keith and his accomplishments nor am I ready to declare MAC dominance for the next ten years. But I am really intrigued.
  24. I think you may have missed this one in another thread. I think that was the point. I'm always entertained by the OU fans with the "Crakron" references. If you go back a few pages on that blog, you can read some really horrible stuff about Akron and how no coach's wife (Mrs. Groce for one) would ever agree to allow her husband to take a job here because this is a dead, failing, awful hell mouth of a city.
