The last time we won at Kent was during Zeke's senior season 2012-2013. We had actually beaten Kent five straight times at that point including a coupe at their place and a couple in the MACC. Sneaking suspicion the Zips pull this one out tonight and drop the Flashes to the sixth seed.

Quickly, wild rampant speculation. UConn and one other school has been granted football membership.

Elton wrote a story on the current state of the MAC. He correctly points out that the Zips might not be the favorites at this point which perhaps is valid. However, his claim for the frontrunners are Western Michigan (who could very possibly not even get one of the top fours seeds - but I hope they do get #4 because it helps us) - or EMU because they have won two in a row convincingly after losing seven straight. They aren't even likely to get a home game in the first round. The East still beat the West 27-21 this year (and six of those West victories were over Miami), so I don't think the West has quite overtaken the East just yet. The Zips were 8-0 against the West.

Something I didn't realize. It was of course Senior Night for six MAC schools and every one of them lost. The road team won all six games yesterday. And really as far as an NCAA tournament run goes it really depends on a few things. A little bit is the seed but more importantly is the matchup and how well you play that particular day. If you're not part of a major basketball conference it's a tough road. Some schools turn it into something (like Gonzaga and VCU), but more often than not its just a fun experience for a bit. Is George Mason dominating the A-10? (they are 8-8). Have Kent and Ohio turned into the dominant programs in the MAC after their run? Oh wait no that's us. I'd love to see an NCAA tournament run as much as anyone but in the long run its probably not going to mean that much. I just hate seeing it put out there as the Holy Grail that a coach must achieve to be considered a success. 10 straight years of making at least the MACC semifinals and 7 in a row in the final? How many other "smaller conference" schools can make that claim? So if we happen to pull off an upset (and it will always be an upset) in the NCAA tournament suddenly Dambrot will be a great coach? I think he's a great coach now.

Everyone take a deep breath and calm down, That sucked but its over and we still are MAC champs and still have a good shot in the MACC tournament. I still think we can go into Kent and beat them. If Ohio and Buffalo pull out wins and we can beat Kent, it keeps them out of a top four seed. If Ball State and WMU both win at home it would drop the Flashes to the sixth seed. That would be a nicely set up tournament so there is still plenty to play for but yeah I think we're looking a at 14 seed if we can reach the NCAA tournament or a 6 or 7 seed in the NIT. Even if we lose to Kent we're not going to be a 15 or 16 seed. Buffalo, Kent, OU, WMU and Ball State are all tied for second in the MAC at 10-7. Since none of them play each other each has a chance to be anything from the 2 to the sixth seed.

First he isn't a senior and second looking at it objectively he played much better than he has recently.

I've been playing with the MAC playoff simulator a bit and if we'd like to see Buffalo, Ohio and Kent all on the opposite side of the bracket its seems like there are four key games, need Buffalo to win at Ohio, the Zips to beat Kent and Ball State to win both of theirs. That's the easiest looking path, but the first two look critical.

I can't find a clip but Sportscenter showed a moment during an Ohio State game where Dan Dakich was an announcer and he talked about how much he hated mascots and specifically called out Zippy for annoying him once during an Akron-BGSU game. Go Zippy! :-)

Would it look disrespectful to Miami to cut them down before the game? If we could just drop Kent one more place this would be my dream MACC for this year. That would put WMU, Ball State, NIU, BGSU and Miami all on our half of the bracket with Ohio, Buffalo and Kent all fighting for the right to meet the Zips.

That was a weird one statistically. So the leading three point shooter was a 4 way tie between Antino (1 vote), Noah (no votes), Jimond (no votes) and Josh (whom I completely overlooked - I knew I was missing someone). So based on that and the Zips shooting a blistering 59% form three (all four of the leading shooters were 3-4) and the three point shooting raised the overall shooting percentage, the only one to get all three right was doccomet87.
