  1. Tough news for WMU, Connar Tava broke his foot. Betting he will be (or would have been) in the Top 25 list.
  2. I still don't understand the love for Creighton in the coaches poll. Their results so far are down below. Anyone on that list scare you with the possible exception of Tulsa and Michigan St? I have each teams current RPI listed. So their top RPI team is #27 (Tulsa). The Zips have played #1 (Wake), #10 (Georgetown), #15 (OSU), #19 (UCSB), #24 (Maryland) and #26 (ODU) all of which rank higher (and where all three of the Zips losses and ties reside) than Creighton's toughest opponent. I get they have won all of their matches (even though only 4 out of 14 being on the road and the only remaining tough game @Georgetown) but I don't see them as a #1 (neither does the RPI having them listed correctly at #6, behind the Zips at #4 ). #57 University Of Michigan Win 1-0 #160 University Of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Win 4-0 #55 California State University-Northridge Win 2-1 #117 California-Irvine, University of Win 4-0 #39 @Michigan State University Win 1-0 #27 University Of Tulsa Win 1-0 #86 Northern Illinois University Win 2-0 #191 @Seton Hall University Win 4-2 #80 Missouri State University Win 4-0 #132 DePaul University Win 1-0 #87 Drake University Win 2-1 #149 St. John's University Win 2-1 #28 @Butler University Win 1-0 #96 @Marquette Win 3-1 #74 Villanova University #67 Xavier University #71 @Providence College #10 @Georgetown University
  3. Game over
  4. Big play and penalties - what's the saying - bad teams find ways to lose
  5. Not only a BS penalty on Monroe where was the call when the BG player shoved him to the ground right afterward?
  6. No way we win this game with all the "special" team f*ck-ups.
  7. So far dead on.
  8. While I stated in another thread I think the Zips have a legitimate chance (and I think the Captain's reasoning is sound), I have a bad feeling about this one. I think BG will throw it on just about every play and even with the Zips putting some pressure on Johnson he'll complete enough against our defensive backfield to make the difference. Getting sacked on one play doesn't mean a lot if you complete a 20 yard pass on the next play. Pass rush is solid but still a little worried about pass coverage (I still shudder at the OU play where Vick looked like he was about to be sacked in the end zone on third down and flung it downfield for about a 30 yard gain to one receiver with about 6 Zips around him). Even though whether the Zips win or not wasn't a question, I see BGSU 38 Zips 24. Fortunately I am wrong a lot.
  9. Really nice preview of the Zips by one of Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba crowd. Better than what we get a lot of the time. This is going to be a tough, tough game but I genuinely believe the Zips have a legitimate chance.
  10. EMU actually has a reasonable offense. The 21 the Zips gave up were the second fewest points they scored this year - including 22 and 255 yards at LSU.
  11. This was part of the official writeup of the game on GoZips.com. I know it's a small detail but wow, would have been hard to get that paragraph more wrong. Did the writer watch the game? With 7:24 remaining in the game, Akron blocked an EMU punt, which the punting team recoverd. Junior LB Andrew Hauser (Ocala, Fla.) made the tackle in the endzone for a safety, boosting UA's lead to 30-14.
  12. CMU came back really strong at the end. But if the Zips can play like they did today they can beat them. The tallest order is next week but if the Zips can top BGSU they still absolutely have a shot in terms of schedule. BGSU and Ohio still have each other and BGSU doesn't get Miami but gets WMU, Toledo and Ball St. Ohio misses UMASS and gets NIU, WMU and Ball St. Much tougher schedules than the Zips. I hate the unbalanced schedule and will be happy when UMASS leaves but it might work to the Zips favor this year. Next week is huge.
  13. Even though we haven't played them in a while what in the world has happened to UCF? 0-5 and down 40-3 to UConn.
  14. Gilbert is #5 on special teams. And Woodson ought to be out of the game and certainly not running it now.
  15. Long passes with great catches from Lane.
  16. That gray turf makes it look like there's either something wrong with the color on my TV or it's broadcasting from the fifties. :-)
  17. Anyone still have any questions on whether LeBron has any impact on the program?
  18. Sue the Kansas City Chiefs. They have done nothing but kick fields to Cincinnati touchdowns today (halftime was even a painful 14-12 score). Then late in the game on an important kickoff they kicked the ball out of bounds. That's OUR schtick. I hope someone copyrighted yesterday's game. Crank up the lawyer machine!!
  19. According to teamrankings.com, the Zips would be favored in every game for the rest of the season except Bowling Green. They give the Zips a 55% chance against the kittens. Most likely record they project to is 7-5. A 6-2 Conference record would give the Zips the most wins in their D-1 history. I think it's possible.
  20. One OU poster correctly pointed out the Zips usually do something to shoot themselves in the foot against OU. Historically that is accurate, time for it to change. I believe!!! Zips finally get off the schnide against OU, Zips by a field goal. 23-20.
  21. I like this one best (because I show up in the middle of it )
  22. Woodson looked terrific against a quality team. Defense still looks championship quality and if the offense can keep this up who knows? Terrific win team came over to celebrate in the stands. Cody Grice literally came up into the stands. :-)
  23. Kyle Pohl in at QB.
  24. The Cajun fans are really starting to bail now
  25. This Stadium has gotten very very quiet
