Pretty funny but true. We have some really tall people - who coincidentally can also play basketball. That is why we are supposed to be really good this year.
-
Back in the glory days of Turner, we had a guy named Don Williams who skipped an NBA shot to try out for the NFL. Didn't make it. He was a darn good hoops player. Someone may have his physical stats. He graduated in '67 I think.
-
I think you guys are forgetting about Domenik Hixon. If he can play WR in the NFL, well Tree has him beat all over in size, and would be a huge target. Which is not to say that he can run fast enough or catch well enough to be a football player. But size wise, he is in the Plaxico Burris arena. Of course, he also may not be able to take a hit, so it is all just speculation at this point.
-
Not to polish my own apple, but I have been saying this since the first time he played last year. He is not a future 6th man of the year, he is the future MAC MVP. Down the road he is going to play 30+ minutes, and hit a double double just about every game. He has an NBA body and hops, it is just a matter of the skills being polished.

They are a creampuff.
-
Of course they forgot to put the audio back on in the second half.
-
Is it me or did Tree look almost out on his feet the last couple of minutes? No movement, just standing around?
-
IT IS MY FAULT BLAME IT ON ME. After years of complaining, to the chagrin of Capt. K, WE GOT SOUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess it was the emails to the AD that did it. No matter. WE GOT SOUND.
-
I don't think they were a cupcake like Pine Bluff.
-
OK, I always have to do this! Seriously, it is pretty good today. We have audio (most of the time). The one big gripe is that the "Zips Zone" on screen scoreboard is in the wrong place. It blocks the view of the basket, especially on the left side. Can't see if the balls drop of not. I will write to them about that. Meanwhile, the boys are playing one of their best games of the season. Tree is going to be a huge star. He is all over the place. And Zeke is playing like..Zeke!
-
Thanks for the correction Mom!
-
Zeke has been a solid player for us. But I don't know if he has ever had a double-double. To have a seven footer in a league that does not attract seven footers is unusual. To have a seven footer who is not pulling down 12 rebounds a game when playing against people 4-5" shorter all the time means something is wrong. We know Zeke is athletic, so that's not it. He is either not coached properly or just does not have the ability to box out and grab rebounds. And he should be averaging at least 4 more points a game. At his size, he should get plenty of bunnies, and the fact that they are not there is quite possibly not his fault.

The ONLY stat that counts is W-L
-
They could not because the passing was horrible.
-
Actually, no. There was no internet streaming then, and we didn't even get the Akron scores here in New York. So my knowledge ends around 1972 in the Len Paul era and starts again a few years ago when Dru Joyce and Romeo were playing, with nothing in between. That being said, I have no gripe with the bench being used when the game was in hand. What I do have a gripe with is the total sloppiness we played with. Just totally horrible. It was like no one was paying attention. Something is just not clicking. PF is going to be a good one for us. I like his aggressiveness to the hoop, something that Zeke has never had. He still seems a little clutzy, but that happens when guys grow big. Hopefully he outgrows that.
-
We better stick to cupcakes. Anyone with a pulse would have blown us out tonight. Just horrible.
-
That was absolutely the worst game I have ever seen the Zips play. Even back in 1967-68, when Williams and Turner were gone and we had no players and could not compete in Div II against such luminaries as Philadelphia Textile, we never played that sloppy. OUCH.
-
This has to be the sloppiest game I have seen in forever. Bodies flying all over the court is fun, but if we were not playing a cupcake we would be down 20+ at the half. Meanwhile, the feed! There is audio, but there is a bad hum and it is very faint. And the online scoreboard is not working, the score was wrong at it was stuck at 1:59 at the half. I know some people would be disappointed if I fail to complain about the feed, so there it is.

I think we are stocked with big, fast, athletic BB players. They are not playing as a team. What I saw was AA passing to where he thought CG would be, only Walsh was in not CG was. Then Walsh being where he should be, except that Melo was in and throwing someplace else. No one posting up, because possibly they thought the other guy in that particular lineup was supposed to do that. If I am wrong, say so. I can take it. But they are not playing as a team, and I think a big part of the problem is that it is just too confusing to have different players constantly rotating in and out. They need to settle down and play together.
-
We have big guys. We have fast guys. We have big fast guys. We don't have an excuse. This team should be winning. Enough rotation. Play the big men and who ever is hot stays in. This year I have seen Tree score and rebound and then sit down. Duh. When he is hot keep him in. Keep Zeke in. He is SEVEN FEET TALL. If someone who is not playing well does not like being on the bench, TOO BAD. It is a team sport and it is about the team, not about minutes.
-
You are right. The difference is that KD has to leave guys in when they are hot. Tree was hot, should have played 40 minutes. Walsh was cold, needed to sit. I hope he does not have "nitro syndrome". One guy being unable to shoot all year was more than enough.
-
And before I forget... AA seems to be playing that last shot stall all the time. What is up with that? Is that the coach or him? And his ball handling has become downright sloppy lately. These guys just are not playing up to their potential at all. In Zeke, Tree and (developing) PF we have three big men who could start anyplace. Why can't we win?
-
I actually must agree with you this time. I am a big fan of KD, but he really blew this one. In the first half, he had Zeke on the bench a lot. He should have played 40 minutes, with Tree and PF next to him. Speaking of which, Tree had the hot hand. Both scoring and on defense. There was no excuse for sitting him down. The heck with the rotation, play the guys who are hot (CG was on today, Walsh was NOT). And Betancourt is really not ready to play much at this level. All AA all the time.
-
The feed is great! Maybe the Mac should send over some people to see how it is done.
-
I don't think we played badly at all. They just played great. They shot an unreal percentage. We made a few mistakes, sure. So what, they shot right over Zeke and the shots dropped. We had to double team McD, and he still scored 30 points and the others scored too. They just played a great game, and we played a more "normal game". They did not play like #16. They played like #5. There is no shame in losing this game. They just played great.
