What ever happened to this wingnut?
zipboy replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
DA ZIPMAN and Pro Scout - 2 blasts from the past. -
He will get to see one of the top games in the country on Sunday. We are 1-0 with him in attendance, let's keep the win streak going.
-
French said if OU wins on Sunday they get the 4 seed. At first I thought, I would rather play CMU in the 3/6 game. Then I figured we beat Miami and OU twice and lost to CMU this year. Whoever it is, it is. Just get 3 in a row Zips!
-
I had read that Can't already had this as a home game and gave it up when BC offered to pay to move the game. If they really wanted to try and get a W, they would have kept it at Can't.
-
Could O'Shea swap his coaching with Grant?
-
Speaking of the family, I saw Matt Futch at the VCU game. He looks even slimmer now than during his senior year. And I thought that I had a Darryl Peterson sighting about a month back.
-
French said next year is an away game for the Bracketbuster. I understand that the league splits the home and away teams each season, they must set it a year in advance? On the good side, we can get a road game on TV. On the bad side, I like having the home game in Feb when less travel is better.
-
It seems like he really presses when starting. B McKnights 2 starts were his 2 worst games of the year. I hope that we bring him off the bench against Miami although he won't get many open looks against them. Conyers and B Mcknight play the same spot. Conyers was only getting 10 minutes a game before. Those 10 minutes will probably get split between Jimmy and Brett.

Won't we only have 1 scholarship to offer for that class even if Roberts does not go on scholarship? Did we offer both him and Keely and the 1st who accepts gets it?
-
As of right now, the 3 seed would be perfect. Zips will need to play lights out to beat Miami. If they win, I think the #4 is all but guaranteed since we beat Miami in the tie breaker. Nice win by Miami at Buffalo though.

Tough loss for VCU. I was hoping they would pull it out. I know that we have no chance of an at large, but the stronger our schedule, the better.I really hope this turns into into a longer series between the 2 schools. Both should have conistent RPIs between 50-75. Even splitting with each other at home and home would help both RPIs. Their conference is similar to ours and are tough at home. I wold expect that they have the same scheduling issues that we might.

I tell you one thing, he has the biggest hands of anyone that I have ever seen watching him in pregame. He has got a body to do some serious damage as it matures.
-
Just to clarify, all the comments were KD. (My ad lib was about Seibert. ) KD also made no guarantees on Ced getting better, they are just playing it day to day.
-
He was in an upbeat mood. Key stuff was1. Wood jogged yesterday. No ifs about it, Wood will play in the MAC tourney. He is eating 1 meal a day (not sure if he was joking here) to not put extra pounds on and is totally focused on coming back and making good progress.2. Ced has not practiced much at all and that has not helped him heal. KD thinks he needs to get reps in. So he is practicing for 2/3 of practice. I think this will at least get him back to where he was a month ago.3. Without Wood we don't have margin for error, but if we play with enthusiasm, we can and should beat most teams in the league. On a side note, this was in contrast to what Hip would always say. One game against Miami, Matt Seibert who had played all of 5 minutes for the year was out. And Dan spent 3 minutes of the pregame lamenting how that was going to be so hard to overcome. 4. KD has to live with the mistakes of the young guys and live with their mistakes. I hope that I got this right, I was in the other room for part of the interview. Seems to me without saying it he may have done things differently vs NIU. At the same time, the team needs to step up the intensity. I expect the BG game to be a good test. We should come out aggressive and hungry.Overall, he was fairly positive, feels good about the attitutude and expects this team to do well. It wasn't let's hold on until Wood gets back. One other interesting comment, Bill Morgan asked him about MAC arenas and if and when Akron builds one, which does he like.He liked EMU the best. Ball, NIU, and Ohio were up there. Akron is in the bottom 3rd of the league (no shock there) but he feels they can do some stuff with the JAR to at least make it middle of the pack.
-
I think that he was forced out. I remember reading something in the paper that he was asked to resign, not enough wins.
-
Similar build to a Mark Groza? Smart move, if a kid does well scholarships always open up. I would like to see Larry Dawson do the same thing.
-
At least after hearing KD on Zips Live tonight, I am off the ledge. He always puts things into perspective.
-
I was hoping for this matchup. VCU is a high mid major, I would love to start a series with. Easy to get to Richmond next year, should be a marquee game on the 23nd.
-
2 years ago we got a great RPI game in Nevada, last year we were hurt with Austin Peay. Sounds like it is our turn to get a good one. I like the MAC vs Colonial for a new rivalry. This would give us good RPI games for nonconference ,a very similar league to the MAC.

What happened to Lauren Stephenson?
-
With all of the trouble we have had with eligibility, the only brush with the law that I can think of was Igor beating up the kid in the dorm. This just sounds like too much baggage.

1. Clearly Ced has been hurting. 2 drives yesterday he would have finished off, and he kind of floated it up there and it fell off. Having a 75% Cedric for 20 minutes a night still gives us a better chance to win now but if a week off helps him get to 90%, I say take our chances this week. Once we get back to the East and the home stretch, everyone will be needed.2. Nearing 20 games, usually the time when FR slow down. 2 1/2 bad games now from McNees. He is critical to our success. Without Ced being able to pick those minutes back up, hopefully he comes out of the funk.3. If we want more offense, B. McKnight needs more minutes. He is a liability on D, but a line up of Dials, Wood, Linhart and McNees/Ced with B McKnight gives us a lot of spacing.4. I also would not mind seeing more of the McKnight brothers together. It seems that Chris looks a little more relaxed when his brother is in the game. I know that Chris has had ups and downs but from a body language perspective on the bench, he seems to be all team guy. I pull for him.Let's get 2 this week!

zippyfan 34,The seats in the lower bowl are the same as what they would be for anyone buying a ticket for one game. $20 I believe is the price this year per game. In addition, you have to give a donation to the Z-fund to be able to buy these tickets. I think that it ranges from either $100 or $200 per ticket ( the corner sections) to $500 (center section) for the season.

You would think the MAC would make sure both of the games at Akron and Can't would be on TV. The best your league has to offer and you don't publicize it. I can't wait to see a Ball State vs NIU matchup on Sportschannel sometime this year. -
Didn't they change the format last year so that only MAC East games count? Cross over games only help decide tiebreakers?
