  1. Not a chance
  2. From her screen name, I think it may be dudette.
  3. He's a stud. I can still remember when he signed with Akron. He had some issues getting in because he was home schooled. At least I think that was him.
  4. I don't care if the #2 behind Crouch sucks! It would just be nice to see someone in there that doesn't have guaranteed penalties EVERY GAME!!!! Good point.
  5. Since you brought it up, the star rankings don't mean everything.AJ Hawk was a 3*. Malcolm Jenkins was a 3* too. A lot of it has to do with the development of the player. That doesn't happen at Akron.I get your point. We can say the same things about a lot of players. However, if the guy dreams, and thinks he has a shot at the NFL, he knows his chances are better at a BCS school than Akron. Unfortunately these guys do what they feel is best for them, not for us.
  6. Why are you so sure he will ride the pine?Look at it another way.He is a top rated lineman. He could come here and play but not develop into an NFL player, or go to a BCS school, and have a chance to go to the NFL.There are no guarantees either way. However, if any player truly believes he is good enough to get to the NFL, you want to go the the best program available.I don't know how good this guy is. However, he was one of the top rated centers in the nation coming out of high school.
  7. Look at the d-line class we signed 2 years ago. If any of those guys qualified, they would probably be in the rotation. They would proabably all be starters next year. Hight, Garner, Marshall, and more.Captain gets mad at me when I say it, but this is a real issue here.
  8. "the only problem is that those #2 recruiting classes were based on the players we inked at the time. if you look now most of the top guys will never play a down for akron."You are 1000000% correct. Take away all of the players that will never play here, and the classes are average at best. Most people don't see that.
  9. Come on now, let's be realistic. Frye may not be the best QB in the NFL, but he doesn't suck either. There is a lot of room between star and flop.I don't feel he will ever be Peyton Manning, but he isn't Ryan Leaf either. He will be solid if given an offensive line to help him.
  10. Am I the only person that feels we lack in developing players? That is basically on the assistants. Are they doing their jobs in this area?Examples. Reggie Corner. When he came in as a Soph. he was pretty good, and you thought by his senior year he would be a top rated corner. He is still pretty good, but not a star.Tim Crouch. He has started for 3 years. I think he started out pretty good but has actually gotten worse over his career.Chevin Pace. Was a tackling machine his first year as a starter. I know he was hurt last year, but he too seems to have gone backwards.Luke Getsy. Enough said.Mike Donaldson. Same as Crouch. He came in pretty good, but hasn't improved.Johnny Long. Came in pretty highly touted but still doesn't live up to it.Kiki. Seems like he was better last year and the year before that.Reid. Other than the last game, same as Kiki.Kevin Grant. Came in as All MAC freshman team. He doesn't seem to be playing as well as last year.Kasperak, He was better last year.Actually the team in general is worse than they were last year. I know that we lost some good players, but very team does every year.We returned more starters than most, yet are worse than we were. It's not just the W-L record either. We didn't get blown out by lesser teams last year.I look at David Harvey, and see how good he looks at WR. If he is this good as a true freshman, you have to think by his senior year he would be a first day NFL draft pick.I know we can't predict the future as lots of things can happen, but he should get much better by his senior year. We shall see.Dom Hixon is the only player that I have noticed made growth with this staff. This is just my opinion, I know some will disagree, but I see this as a real issue.
  11. If we have nice weather for our games, it shouldn't be a problem. However, if the weather sucks, most non true fans won't come out to see s bad team play.
  12. I don't understand why you consider them the JV. I truly feel the only reason many of the upperclassmen are playing is JD is loyal to the seniors more than he should be.There are a few starters on this team that I believe there is no chance there isn't somebody better than them, but they aren't playing. I know JD wants to win, but I also feel there some promises made, and that is the problem. Either that, or JD isn't the recruiter so many of you think he is.Also, there is absolutely no reason not to play the younger guys in a blowout game. These younger guys need to get the work in to get better.
  13. Hey, where is GI Joe with the Kung Fu grip?
  14. What substitution patterns? It seems the only way there are any switches out there is if someone, other than Luke, plays extremely bad, or gets hurt. If we don't have anyone better than Crouch, then we are in big trouble next year.
  15. CJ may not be that much faster in the 40. However, he is much quicker and shiftier with his feet. Troy Smith at OSU is not that fast. He is just quick and has nice moves. Not saying CJ is TS, but there is more to it than 40 time.
  16. The JAR is a decent venue. Yes it is small, but it looks decent , is on campus and is comfortable. If we start selling out the JAR every game and have SRO, then maybe someting needs to get done. However, we aren't there yet. We can't just keep throwing money at everything until some returns start being shown. This bball team will hoepfully have a great season. However, 1 great season doesn't make a great program. Yes, we are headed in the right direction, but a few weeks back we all thought the same of the football team. I know KD is not JD. However, a few weeks back people were on here all worried and nervous about losing JD.
  17. I may be wrong here, but I don't see anyone "bashing" him. We are saying he isn't that great, and to stop making excuses for him.I have not read where anyone says he sucks, or he should go shoot himself.Excuses are for losers. At this point, Charlie isn't getting the job done. Will he in the future? Noone knows. However, he is making a lot of mistakes. If he can learn from his mistakes and the Browns can get an o-line we will find out what he is all about.
  18. "Here's an idea. Everyone expects instant winning."You do realize that this is NE Ohio, right?Noone has won anything up here since, forever.
  19. Great story. Sounds like mom is awesome.
  20. Great news. Hopefully it's for more than 1 series per half.
  21. How has Conyers been looking?
  22. Although I agree that Hixon was a good receiver, you make it sound like this was Matt Linart, having Bush, Jarrett , WIlliams and all the other future 1st rounders at his disposal.Biggs was a decent back. He was nothing special. Montgomery was a decent receiver, again nothing special. Frye was not mediocre in my opinion. He was a good college QB.Not an elite QB, but a good college QB.
  23. Good writeup. I agree with just about everything. My only difference is that I would let CJ have more than a few series. As for the players laughing, does the coaching staff know about this, and not care?
  24. Are you old enought to remember Mike Johnson in the late 80's? Many fans have blocked out the Faust years, but there were some great players who played for him here. Yes, I remember Mike Johnson, and Jeff Switzer, and Vernon Stewart, and my favorite, Marcell Weems. However, I feel Frye was a better passer than any of them.
