Frye was a good college QB. He does not have a strong enough arm to be a good pro QB. We, as Akron fans, thought he was great because he is the first QB we have had that looked as good as he did.

Absolutely true about the 3-3-5. I understand the point about not being able to get top notch d-lineman. Then we need to do a standard 3-4. Having basically another safety is not getting it done. It's like playing the 3-4 nickle the entire game.

The only reason he commited here was because the big schools backed off of him because of his grades. If you go to the Rivals site, he doesn't even list Akron.He chose Akron to have a backup plan in case he qualified late. I have said it before, and get yelled at about it. Look at our top recruits over the last 3 years. Many of them are not on the team. We offer guys that the big schools won't. Then most of them never qualify, and we lose out. However, on national signing day we look like we have a good class. Sure, some qualify, but the percentage is not very good. It's true that "most" teams have some non qualifiers, but ours are more than "most".Captain, I didn't start the thread.

If your playing a team with a QB that has "NO" game experience and their top receiver and running back are leaving....I say hell yeah we have a shot. It might not be a good one but we got one. We are losing our QB too. Also, Pittman probably isn't leaving, and if he does, I don't think Chris Wells will be too bad of a replacement.Although Ginn will probably leave, OSU has plenty of depth.Of course Akron will have a chance, as anyone can beat anyone on any certain day, but I feel this game won't be close.

Yes, winning your first MAC championship in school HISTORY is a great year.Yes, going to your first division I bowl game in school HISTORY is a great year.Win and put a new stadium on campus and people will come.I'm not sure what the debate is, the stadium is going to come no matter what you or I type. Again, you are proving my point. To us, actual UA fans, we are happy. It is an improvement. To the casual fan, going 7-5 and losing in a bowl game is nothing special.Perhaps if we had won the game and finished 8-4 that would make a lot of difference. I can't answer that. 7-5 and a bowl loss does not make the casual fan say "wow, look at how well Akron is doing"I realize a bowl game is as far as we will ever go. But maybe if we finished in the top 25 and actually won the bowl game, that would convince a lot of people to come to the games. I know the rubber bowl is a piece of SH. However, I also think that winning would get "some people" to over come that.I know getting the new stadium will bring people in. However, if we aren't winning the newness (is that a word?) will wear off. Minimum of 8-9 win seasons consistently is what will keep the crowds coming.

Casual observers, (fairweather fans) see it as same old "Akron U". We know it is an improvement. They don'tBeing neutral, 7-5 is not a great season. It isn't even a good season. Once we get to the point where 7-5 is a rebuilding, down year, we will be considered a good team.Comparing the Browns to UA football is apples and oranges. They are a pro team that has a lot of history and tradition. Cleveland and NE Ohio is a football area. People are brought up as Browns fans. People need to learn to be UA fans. The consistent mediocre years and lack of energy will not bring anyone in to see the team.It still amazes me that most students don't attend games. Even once we get a new stadium, by year 3, if we aren't winning, the attendance will drop big time.

I don't know if the culture is that important.I use the Indians as an example. When they started winning, the place sold out for 2 years in a row. I know the new stadium had something to do with it too. However, the winning was the real difference. If it was just the stadium, that would have worn off after the first 1-2 years. Now the Indians suck again, and the attendance is way down. if they start winning, the sell outs will come back IMHO

The reason for poor attendance is anything other than the poor performance of the football team.It is no beer sales, OSU playing, people spending money on the Browns, day games, gremlins kidnapping the student body every weekend, bla, bla, bla.Win some damn games consistently and people will attend....................We, as true Zip fans, feel 7-5 is a great season. Most non current fans do not...

The Browns need at least 2 new o-lineman to go with Bentley.I am a little dissapointed in Schaeffer too.D-line help, corner help, o-line help, the Browns have many many needs. Hopefully they have some money under the cap to go along with a high draft pick. They will need all the help they can get.

When I think of horseshoe, I just think of a stadium with a closed end. Like the rubber bowl is. I don't want a fancy high school stadium.
