How long is Hirschman supposed to be out for?

Good question. I care about soccer. I am just not a huge fan other than Akron. I follow college and pro football, college and pro basketball, but only Akron soccer. I fell in love with Akron soccer when I was a kid and my dad would take me to the Acme-Zip game and the soccer game was played before the football game. We always got good seats because I would beg to get there early to watch the soccer game. LOL.

Most OSU fans don't care about soccer. I don't know why, but it's like that at many schools, big and small. Sure there are soccer diehards, but if you asked most OSU sports fans, students, alum, etc when was the last time that OSU was in the tourney or the NC, or pretty much any soccer question, they wouldn't know. I am an Akron alum and give money every year to UA. I know absolutely nothing about their diving, tennis, volleyball, etc teams.. I just don't care about those sports. Sure I think it would be cool if UA won NC in those,but I really don't care other than that. I am a bball and football guy.

Georgia plays Alabama every year in football. Georgia occasionally wins. They are not rivals, other then the same conference Georgia/Georgia Tech are rivals. Alabama/Auburn are rivals. The list is numerous. I guess if you want to say that any team you play every year is your rival, I can't argue that. I just don't agree with it. Rivals need to be 2 sided. IMHO. Akron may look at OSU as a rival but it isn't reciprocated for the most part. That has nothing to do with how Akron is looked at. It has to do more with rivals crossing many sports, not just soccer. I am looking at this from both sides, you are looking at it from 1 side. This is one of those times we will agree to disagree.

So, you are saying we are undefeated every year? I don't understand.

For something to be a rivalry doesn't it need to be a pretty even matchup? Akron dominates in soccer. Just because you or a very small group wants something to be a rivalry doesn't make it one.

I absolutely agree that it is great to hand it to them in soccer. Some people go waaaaayyy beyond that. I already said how much I love to rub it in when we beat them in soccer(which is always) I'd do the same in basketball. Rivals need to be 2 sided. As much as UA values soccer, Sadly OSU fans don't really care. Plus they have a pro team down there too. There are virtually no threads on soccer there. And before the front runner talk comes out I remember a few years ago when OSU was in the tourney and someone brought it up there were a bunch of who cares, and very limited posts. When UA played scUM, there were multiple page threads, at least 3 I can remember, cheering on UA and saying how great UA looked. And before the obsessive say it's because of scUM, they also had them for Tennesse last year and for other big time opponenets in the past. Most OSU fans root for all Ohio teams. I said most, not all. Sure they have their share of moronic fans. Every fan base does. And when you live locally, you see more than your share of them. I bet E. Michigan fans think MSU fans are all jerks. Okie State and OU the same about the others. Cal fans about USC. I bet UCF fans think all UF fans are jerks, and Texas Tech think all Texas fans are jerks. I could go on and on but the obsessive will just say it's excuses. LOL. I could go on and on, but it falls on deaf ears here. There were also mutiple threads about UA being so good in bball. We have more threads on them than we do all other teams combined. It seems we can't have a thread without bringing them up. I saw the thread in the smack talk forum and didn't say anything because that is the right forum if you have to do it. I did laugh a lot when I read it because there are many that are clueless and just hateful. Look at the BGSU or any other football thread. It talks football and is respectful without all the personal attacks. If you can't see the difference, I don't know what to tell you. Like I said before, to some on here it's like Pavlov and his dogs. Some day I would love to have an open and civil conversation about college sports in Ohio. However, I know there are too many 3rd graders here that couldn't handle that. There are some fabulous posters here that understand things. Then there are the haters. I'm done with this thread now as I have already wasted enough time. Obsessive people will be obsessive. Pavolv is ringing the bell now skip.

The defense just doesn't seem to be an attacking defense. it seems more read and react. That is on Amato. That is his style. Mizell is still a bit rusty after coming in so late. He should get stronger as the season goes on. Turner will never be what he was pre-shooting IMHO. However, he is doing "ok". I think next year he will have a breakout year. He's got speed to burn. Again, Amato needs to let these guys do what they do best, which is attack.

Do you think some have lost interest after Porter left and the 2 early losses?

I guess all Ohio schools, except the ones in our conference and we play in all sports, are our rivals. There is only one that is constantly attacked and called juvenile names. I don't see OU, BG, Miami, and Toledo constantly bashed by obsessive UA fans.

We both know they are never general discussions. They are immature attacks. This is a Zips Forum. Maybe the name should be changed to bashosunation.org. Too bad there isn't a site that actually discusses UA sports.

How do you know they won't schedule UA?Wait, don't tell me, one of your 2 OSU buddies told you. LMAO. You don't know. You are just assuming. I would love to see them play in baksetball. I think it would be great for NE Ohio. Akron needs to knockoff a top 20 opponent to be taken seriously. As for the cupcakes that every major team plays, OSU had to play FAMU because Vanderbilt, of the SEC, cancelled the home and home and OSU was stuck looking for a replacement last year. OSU was supposed to play Vandy this year and next but they chickened out. When SDSU was scheduled they were a much better team. Then their coach left. Bama, LSU, Auburn, UGA, etc don't come north. The B10 pretty much sucks. That doesn't mean you make it up out of conference. Nobody does. What people with an agenda, like you, fail to ever recognize is that schedules are made years in advance. When Cal was scheduled they were a top 20 team under Tedford. They suck now, so that is OSU's fault for scheduling them in your world. So, if OSU schedules Bama for 4 straight years starting in 2016 but Bama gets hit with all of the recruiting violations that they have commited, they will suck in 2016 and you will be talking about the weak OSU schedule and blaming them for it. OSU has a home and home scheduled with Oklahoma in a few years. I hope OU is still good or you will be whining about SOS. OSU has a home and home with VTech starting next year. Oops, VTech is sucking right now, OSU fault for scheduling them. Never let facts get in the way of your rants. As for soccer, I love going to the OSU board and talking crap after UA wins. Most have a sense of humor about it.

Yep. Students should be embarrassed to wear another schools gear at their own school. If you aren't proud of our school, go elsewhere.

The team is looking better. However, the record still only shows 1 win. As much as I want to think the team will keep getting better, I then remind myself that all but Grice on the d-line are seniors. I wonder if Bowden can bring in some 5th year seniors again to build it back up. Other then Pittman, we don't have a lot of size on the d-line. The D could be really abad again next year. Yes, I know we are 1/3 into the season, and I am already looking at next year, but that's how I roll.

I guess Fred Flintstone forgot our missed FG's and Int in the endzone. He acts like only his team made mistakes. Of course I know that is his job and they only do see it one way. He obviously left out the officials protecting his team too.
