  1. Well, you may be right. But I think that's really a testament to the current talent. I just re-watched a Zips vs. Can't game on a crappy vhs tape last week (probably indicative of what my life is like currently). It was surreal. The JAR was packed and it brought back some vivid memories of the era. George Phillips, pre-injury was a force. I wanna say he was All MAC as a freshman. His knee issues kept him from reaching his potential. Andrick could play. I'd say his game was similar to Nik Cvetinovic, except Andrick had better offensive moves. Would Nik have gotten time this year? Hard for me to say. And Bosley was such a unique player who could put up the points when needed. It's hard to say how good these guys - including Ball - really could've been if their coach didn't cause them to hate the game. I still say Ball/Bosley was my favorite Zips backcourt in the last 20.
  2. Listen, I've got like four total good memories of Akron sports. Seeing CF play QB for four years is one of them. I'm not going to let you trash him on THIS forum. Go to a Steelers or Flashes forum to do that. We've been through enough crap so if you're gonna trash AKRON ZIPS PLAYERS go someplace else. This is not the place for it.
  3. Exactly! So many people don't get this. Whether the arena is downtown or near Infocision, it's got to embrace the surroundings in a way that helps build up the neighborhood. Good urban design isn't the schools forte and that makes me a bit nervous. How long have we suffered through the whole commuter school image? It would be the same mistake to construct an isolated arena/parking garage setup that simply funnels people to and from their cars.
  4. You sound pretty happy with attendance. I am not.
  5. "Better than the JAR" is way too low a bar to set. We need the arena in a place where you can walk around or bar hop for a bit. As soon as you let patrons get back into their cars, they're gone.
  6. I voted "YES." You folks who voted "NO," did you not welcome and cheer on Jami Bosley during his time at Akron?
  7. I think the arena should go downtown. I SAID DOWNTOWN!!!!!!!!!! Anyone?
  8. Can they tackle??
  9. Anticlimactic.
  10. The University has mentioned tearing down both the Martin Center and The Alumni Center. I don't want these two buildings leveled for an arena or for anything else for that matter. There's enough blighted areas around that we shouldn't be tearing down historic buildings.
  11. Thanks for the heads up guys. Unfortunately some car issues will be keeping me in the CLE. Nonetheless I'll be all decked out in my Zipswear and willing our Kangaroos to a great win tonight!
  12. I can't go to Detroit. I would, however, rather love to see our Zips on tv in the best possible atmosphere. I live amongst 1,000 sports bars in Cleveland. But I want to be with ZIPS FANS. Where to go?
  13. What a great video. More of this kinda stuff please!!!!!
  14. I fully expect the cats to come out fighting tonight. I think they're just waking up after their great run last season. Gonna be a great game, I predict ZIPS WIN!!!!
  15. Huron Point, you have won my allegience.
  16. GO ZEKE GO ZIPS!!!!!!!!!
  17. The veggie dog is decent....just not the same. I hope you didn't give up ice cream for Lent!!
  18. Anyone else shocked with all these small schools having big time looking arenas???
  19. Way to take the inititive! 3.00 import draftss sounds really sweet.
  20. Might as well mix in the Happy Dog on Detroit and W58 while you're at it!!
  21. All right guys, big game tonight! I've got my giant foam #1 finger and my circa 94 Zippers b-ball jersey on! Also, I don't listen to the radio, and my tv's stuck on Home Shopping Network. I've been away from the net for a couple days. What else is going on?
  22. ^ Ouch! If you build it, they will come* *for one game
  23. Some context is needed. The University Park Alliance has major changes planned for Exchange. Just check the "University Squre" segment of this video at 3:37. Then it's easy to understand the dramatic changes that will occur and thus why Buchtel Field is in play. http://landing.newsinc.com/shared/video.ht...mp;VID=23414948 Then again, pause it at 3:10 to see just how the arena would look downtown :-) p.s. Lee Jackson is a bad location because we'd be giving up too much coveted greenspace. This is an amenity that our campus is sorely lacking. Adjacent to Route 8 is a bad location because it borders on a dead zone that has no traction for redeveloping.
  24. IS THAT LOGO ON CAMPUS OR DOWNTOWN??? :-)
