EA's article mentions that yes, he was ejected in a previous game. So for the record I did actually learn something haha.
I don't think it was a dirty play. But if you check the rule as written, there's not much room for leeway. In this instance it was unfortunate for us, but it's clear that the game is evolving away from the old school Ronnie Lott school of hitting in favor of more fundamental tackling.
