How bout none of the above?? Women's sports are a waste of athletic department money and energy. Nobody cares about them and they bring no revenue or pride to the school. With the way Bush has reformed Title IX, I don't understand why some athletic departments continue to follow the old rules other than to be PC. Let's get a sport that matters, like Ice Hockey or Wrestling.

Apparently this is old news, but I just found out, so for those of you who didn't know like me WR J Sharps has been removed from the football program due to academic struggles and other problems. He was promising wideout, so this is a real shame.

I believe GP1 was referring to the fact that Criner coached under Rick Minter, and learned from him.

Mascots are supposed to be lovable and goofy and something kids can look forward to seeing. There's not a mascot in the country that's "mean looking". Zippy is great and should stay. We don't need some evil looking mascot that's gonna scare the piss outta kids and give them nightmares.

Spoke with a higher up last night and was told Akron has hired a new linebackers coach. It's Mark Criner, former DC at MTSU.Click Me

You're an idiot and your team is overrated. You'll lose 4 more games this season, we'll lose none, and you can have fun watching us in the Dance just like you watched us win the MAC and go bowling in football. Congratulations on beating a tired team which suffered a second half collapse by six points in your own shitty house. We'll handle the flushes by double digits at the JAR. Have a nice day and have fun trying to fuction in the world with that Can't State education. Piostseason? Can't write, Can't read, Can't state.

Sorry Flush fans, there's a new sheriff in town. Saturday will be the ceremonial passing of the torch as we take over basketball in not only Northeast Ohio but the entire MAC. The boys will be ready and they are going to lay one on Can't for the ages. I can't wait.

Mich St recruited him to play a skill position. He came to Akron under a promise from JD that he'd get his shot at QB. Which he will, and then he'll either go to a skill position or go elsewhere.
-
Jacquemain is not fast enough to be a 1A reciever. It's either QB or nothin for him. Jackson has the versatility to play reciever or safety and doesn't have the arm strength our other QB's have. He'll end up at reciever or he'll transfer.
-
By fall:QB- 1. Getsy 2. Jacquemain 3. Hakes (redshirt)RB- 1. Kennedy 2. Allen/Boone 3. McMillon 4. Reed (redshirt)Carlton Jackson will be given at opportunity at QB in the Spring much like Jabari Arthur but will help shore up the WR corps in the fall. He's too much of an athlete to sit on the bench at QB.

If we couldn't get Chris Wells...
InTheZone replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
Nobody ever said Wells was coming to Akron. I reported on here that Wells visited Akron and attended an Akron bowl practice. He did, and that's easy to confirm if you know anyone in the football program (obviously you don't).The story with McCoy isn't just a rumor either. Zips coaches have been in contact with him and have gotten some surprisingly positive feedback. Maybe Cap knows more but thats the info i got. -

From talking with my sources earlier today, if I was a Vegas oddsmaker, I'd put our odds on this kid at 3:1. We'll see what happens tomorrow. -
Scout has McCoy at 5 stars, and I tend to agree with that ranking in doing some research on this guy. He reminds me a lot of DeAngelo Williams who we saw in Detroit. I think he would actually be a BETTER fit in our offense than Wells, because he's fast as lightening and has great hands, which is crucial as often as we use our RB's in the passing game. If we land Harvey and McCoy this is going to be huge.

Losing big leads does not bode well for the Zips!

Nothing's up with it, because they win in the end. Until they don't, I see no problem at all with this team and no reason why they can't win out. -
The ONLY positive I could see in this is that maybe JD called to let Reed know that the Zips were signing McCoy and that would change Reed's role from RB to probably DB. In that case, this would be awesome. If not, then I'm majorly pissed.

Aaris Reed has disappeared from our Rivals list.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe we signed an olineman for the '04 class out of Bishop McDervitt but he never played due to injuries. -
Anybody heading over before the game at 5 for the recruiting press conference? I'm going to try to make it though I don't know if I'll be off work by then.

I believe the story is that he will most likely be eligible at the end of this semester but wanted to stay in prep school another year because the big boys didn't think he could handle college academics yet. The story with us seems to be JD's told him he has faith that he can make it at Akron and wants him to get started on his career next year. -

That Memphis team we just played down in Detroit, and that running back that ran all over us are a similar story. Memphis was a down-trodden program that hadn't sniffed a bowl game for 30 years and a winning season for almost a decade. Williams was a top ten running back in the nation would said screw you to the big boys and went to Memphis with hopes of instant exposure. I think we saw in Detroit the results of that. If we land this kid, it could mean dominance in the MAC for the next four seasons. -

Alright, made a few calls, and I can confirm.....there's some real substance to this rumor my friends. It's a real possibility. WOW -

This is the loser, small minded, little 'ole Akron mentality that keeps the program down. -

From Rivals: Mike FarrellRecruiting AnalystRivals100 running back LeSean McCoy transferred from Harrisburg (Pa.) Bishop McDevitt to New Berlin (N.Y.) Milford Academy earlier this month. Recently there has been some speculation on whether the 5-foot-11, 204-pounder with 4.4-second speed would make a commitment on Signing Day to either Penn State or Virginia Tech. Is McCoy going to sign or does he plan to wait?McCoy plans to wait out a decision until next Signing Day. "LeSean has told me he isn't planning to sign with anybody on Signing Day, at least right now," said Milford head coach Bill Chaplick. "He sees no advantage to signing since he's going to be here through Signing Day next year. Instead, he just plans to continue the recruiting process and hopes to enroll in August 2007."Lots of schools have continued to show interest in McCoy."LeSean has been in contact with Penn State, Virginia Tech, Miami, Southern Cal, Tennessee, Michigan State and others," he said. "There are plenty of teams that would love to sign him, but he doesn't feel that is necessary at this point."Meanwhile, the No. 7 running back in the country has taken to his new school."Since he arrived at Milford, LeSean has been 100% focused on academics," he said. "He hasn't really talked much about recruiting at all."McCoy at one time was rated the No. 1 running back in the country, but he broke his ankle early in the season and is still recovering. Reports confirm that the recovery is going well.
