  1. I guess what I should say is that Harvey to me was just as sure handed as D. Hixon, it was everyone else that had multiple drops in the passing game. I just feel like the O-line and Running game were the biggest problems. Even if we had Hixon this year we still would have Getsy spinning to avoid sacks, and Kennedy coming back from his injury a different person. Hell Terrell Owens couldn't have prevented the ass whipping we took from Can't or Western.

  2. This is not about captain and his loyalty and niceness... I personally agree with zipster's point. Let's compare JD and KD:JD is waiting for the first offer to take another job.KD is a local guy who clearly states that he is staying here even if Duke offers him a job.JD has a brand new practice facility, and is the only decent D1 team in NEO which gives him an edge in recruiting KD has no edge as far as practice facility, and has so many decent programs in the area to compete with (Can't state, youngstown state).JD had only one half decent season (i insist on the "half") in which all the odds worked for him to end up as a MAC champion.KD has taken the program from loosing record into a consistently winning program that teams don't want to come play us in the JAR. (30-2) home record under KDI have nothing against JD, but comparing the loves that JD gets on this board, I think that KD deserves a lot more than what he currently get.
Bravo! Bravo! I agree 110%...IMO the jury is still out on JD, I think the potential is there (ie games against NC State) but potential without results gets you (ass kick'n by Can't, Western Mich, and OU, and no MAC title or atlarge BCS bid and an empty Rubber Bowl the opening home game of the following season.
  3. Thank you Fear the roo for speaking what's on my mind.Just like you i noticed a similar place in the summit mall selling college sports gear. After looking for maybe 25 minutes and finding all D1 schools except akron, i headed towards the cashier and this converstion happened between us:me: How much are you selling those football jerseys for?him: $50me: great ! give me 10 zips' jerseys...him: zips ! do we have any zips jerseys?me: are you asking me ? this is your store...him: i don't think we have those...me: well forgive me for assuming that akron stores would have akron gear...him: we have antonio pittman's jersey, he grew up in copley, 3 miles from here.me: good for you, i am looking for zips stuff. Now those of you who know me, would know that i am a broke ass college student who could barely afford one of those jerseys... i just feel that those people should understand that they're loosing business by not having Zips stuff. Now that i think of it, i wonder what would i have done if he went in the back and brought me 10 jerseys and asked me for $500+tax... luckily, he didn't.
I have asked several stores why they don't carry University of Akron apparel, and received a reply I don't understand and am not sure that I believe, but it was the same answer. I was told that several years ago the University "took over their own brand marketing" and that to purchase the right to sell Zips apparel was just to expensive versus the amount of sales. Huh?????
Does anyone know who to ask to find out if this is true?
  4. Look I am from Massillon Oh, born and raised went to the University of Akron. My point when comparing Columbus to Macedonia is the fact that Soccer is waaaay more popular down here compared to up there! And no one attends the professional games here so my question is what makes people think the will have a larger attendance in a location where there is less people I understand Macedonia is not on an island, but you can't compare MLS to the NFL or NBA it just isn't as popular here as it is in other countries. I agree this is a waste of taxpayers money.

  5. Columbus has a population much larger than Macedonia,
hahahaha! The logic people use amazes me sometimes.AsIf Macedonia was an island isolated in Lake Erie or something!Okay, Macedonia is between two cities. But, perhaps unlike Columbus, those cities themselves (while the densest population) are rarely the prime ticket buyers for pro sporting events. Go to any Cavs, Indians, or Browns game, and you will find suburbanites in the seats. This phenomenon might be even more exxagerated for soccer. So, if you move out into suburbia, you actually get closer to your market. Macedonia is between TWO cities, but in the prime market for both.
Ahhhh! Now I see said the blindman with the deaf dog!! Boy now i feel stoopid!!:(
  6. F.Y.I. I live in Columbus and not to long ago Columbus Crew members were going door to door trying to sell discounted ticket packages in an effort to get more fans to come to the games.During the 2005 season the Crew experienced their second worst average attendance since 1996 due to a poor season record. The team has three major supporters' groups: Legion 04, the V-Army, and Fort Knox.Their average attendance * 1996: 18,950 * 1997: 15,043 * 1998: 12,275 * 1999: 17,696 * 2000: 15,451 * 2001: 17,551 * 2002: 17,429 * 2003: 16,250/Missed Playoffs * 2004: 16,872/15,224 * 2005: 12,916/Missed Playoffs * 2006: 13,294/Missed Playoffs * All-Time: 16,344And the Macedonia soccer team wants a stadium how big?Columbus has a population much larger than Macedonia, what the hell do ya think is going to be the attending amount of people there?!

  7. Bobbyake. I know. The people (smokers and non-smokers) will still need to vote on it. But let me correct you on one item. When Cuyahoga County initiated a cigarette tax, I believe that applied to ANY tobacco product. K-Roo. I agree with you. I don't care that the people at Akron are claiming that the Soccer stadium has no impact on our stadium. If both projects need any kind of private support, and the soccer stadium is built first, it would HAVE to impact our ability to get private support.
I agree....a little. I understand where you are coming from, and you may know more about this than me but. I think this is only an issue if it is built within the same fiscal year. Most companies have funds set aside for donations etc, it's a tax write off. People nowadays donate if they feel the need is just. Tell me if I am wrong but I don't see a company that has a chance to advertise their product or logo on a newly built on campus stadium. Not because I already gave to the soccer stadium so I am not going to donate to the university
  8. And this is good news how? Just curious do alot of people agree that a new soccer stadium will effect the universities plans to build an oncampus stadium. I honestly think that even if we have unsuccessful seasons the university will build a stadium. I think success will only dictate stadium capacity. If we have another mediocre to poor season - a 25K stadium sounds just right. If we have the kind of season that we should 9 and 3 or better then the stadium should be around 35 - 42K. and of course all able to expand to more.

  9. Like before, it seems pretty much a guarantee BG will return to the West. They prefer being with their Toledo buddies.
Actually that is wrong. When they agreed to originally move to the West they had it in the contract that they would be the first team given the opportunity to move to the East if a shift ever occurred again. They like the East better as it puts them in the division with another rival, Miami, who they wouldn't necessarily play every year if they were in the West. Since the UT/BG rivalry is so big they know they will be playing us every year no matter what division they are in and they like the idea of a possible UT/BG MACC Game someday. With Temple joining I fully expect the East to have 7 team and the West to have 6 teams. Remember, Temple gives us an odd number of teams. If we expand again, then that expansion school could be put in the West, or maybe at that time they will ask BG to move to the West again if they bring in a school like UMASS or something.
UMass?Where did you pull that one from?
