The only thing good about this is that we play these teams, the bad thing is this is half of our conference so it hurts when we try to earn respect.

Everyone makes great point and I don't mean to single this kid out but as someone mentioned earlier a scholarship is a pribiledge and it isn't viewed as such in todays world and kids are to afraid of competitiond. This is a competitive world whether you like it or not and the sooner a young adult realize this the sooner they will learn nothing great comes effortless. Even if my parents had the money to send me to any school in the country why would I pay to go to a comparable school and pay for it when i could go for free, I mean it's not like he is leaving Akron to go to Harvard. And dude dorms are apart of college life, and if he doesn't like his teamates??? Man I don't like everyone i work with but I act in a professional manner and take care of business, Good luck young man especially if it is the bearded clam isthe reason for which you are leaving.

I wonder what would happen if athletes were not allowed to transfer unless they were kicked out of the university....what if athletes were bound..ya know like a "real contract!" The university has to honor their scholarship offer, so why shouldn't the athlete? I mean if you became a professional you would have to honor your contract or you would be subject to fines and penalties.....Now I know some people are gonna say there is a penalty you have to sit out a year...yeah so what the university loses that scholarship money. IMO sports directly relates to preparation for the real world. You just gonna quit your job cause a new hire is getting more praise than you? Better yet you have problem in a marriage so instead of working harder or sticking with it your just gonna quit! Some people are so afraid of competition, or playing a backup role. So the guy from BG who is obviously friends with this pu$$y tell him good ridance. We are trying to build something special here and we don't' need quiters.Quitters never win and winners never quit.....I believe everything happens for a reason...when a door is close look for a window (of opportunity)!!

Right now no one can deny the success we are having right now..Football, Soccer, and Now Basketball. Is this the future of the Universityh of Akron? Across the board improvement in competitive play?! Or are we experiencing a "goodyear" no pun intended....anyway. Some haters out there are saying we are just experiencing a lucky season. And I quote "Akron just improved from bad to decent, once teams take you seriously you guys will go back to your losing history." What would be your reply, mine was a swift kick to the nose, and a war chant "Fear the Roo, Biatch!"

I have to agree as well...there are too many reasons..and you would have to throw in there where are your friends going because coming out of "high school" alot of decisions are made by what your friends are doing.

I didn't say Owens best players were from NEO I said he wasn't getting the best players in NEO...Canton McK. at one time had 7 guys on the Ohio State roster...you mean to tell me we couldn't land one of them? Massillon had 2....Massillon Perry had one, Canton Glen Oak had 2...and that is within a 20 mile radius!!!! We get the all conference and honorable mentions of NEO!! Bobby Hendry, and Jay Rohr are the only decent players he got from NEO.I grew up in Massillon and a receiver from McKinley was offered a scholarship from Akron, (And this is a direct quote) "I am too good for AKron I am gonna walk on at OHIO SATE!!" I just laughed, oh well anyway, he isn't playing anywhere at the moment but, believe me people it is hard to recruit with subpar facilities I had to do it, I am a former player that played for both Faust and Owens...I feel both were great people but poor coaches...I never experienced a losing season untill I came to AU...but ya know what it was the best time of my life!!And one last point when I first got to Akron, there were players like Marcell Weems, Darren Gouch, Phil Dunn, Kenny Champman...real D1 players when Owens took over the overall physical size of the team got smaller, and less athletic, I feel JD is the best man for the job period. Heis making things happen NOW not in 3 or 4 seasons..

Akron should recruit from local high schools, it is good for attendance and there is alot of talent in that area. THe problem is they aren't getting the best from the local high schools. NEO has the best football in the state of ohio period. Canton Mck, Massillon, St. Ignatios, Cleveland Glenville, Youngstown, etc. The problem is Akron lets kids go to schools like Kentucky, Rutgers, Pitt, and Duke (schools with big names and bad football).

Swiger ranked 7th in draft Go to the defensive prospects section on the left-hand side of the screen and select kickers...he is now ranked 7thI always thought he was under-rated. That kick against Marshall was as clutch as I witnessed at the RB. One game winning field goal doesn't make you good consistency does. And in the Bowl game we consistenly had bad field position. The kicking game is 1/3 of the game I don't know if most people realize that. We need a solid kicking game..

I used to be in favor of a playoff system to determine a clear cut ncaa football champion. I mean in every level of football it it tournament based. If you win the state title in high school football you play atleast 14 games, if you go to the Super Bowl you play 20 + games, so why is it a big deal if in college you play 16-18 games? sports analysis argue that bowl games are important to the teams that are playing in them. After experiencing the Motor City Bowl I would have to agree, it has done wonders for our fans and campus vibe.If anything I would now be in favor of a bowl slash tournament set up where the top 4 bowls are tournament based and the rest play for recruits and exposure like we did in Detroit. what are some of your thoughts?

O.K. we had some success this pass season, and what is pleasing to me is it could have been better by beating Army, Miami, and Memphis. It's easy to identify what we need personel wise but what would some of you focus on during the offseason with the guys coming back? Personally I would focus on O-line some say the line is fine, but if you can make the O-line great, you can take stress off of the QB, have a running game regardless of who is in the backfield and always walk away with point when in the redzone.

I agree we should have played Rutgers when they were struggling, I agree lets play Syracuse at home and beat them I feel that is a game we can win.

OMG!! I have to agree I left after the 3rd quarter and rushed to my brothers house to finish watching the game and it wasn't on! I was on ESPNU who the hell has that?

Capitan is ABSOLUTLY RIGHT!!!! Man I hope you people don't raise your kids to be so scary and pessimistic. Reach for the stars, no nuts no glory,...DAMN!! I feel that right now is the perfect opportunity to springbord forward to the upper class of the mid major to major schools. This is a critical point in our universities future. Basketball, Football, and Soccer are all having success, NOW is the time people while getting is good, ride that momentum wave. Don't wait to see how long the wind is gonna blow before you put up your sails!!!! We have recieved positive national attention for CHris Berman on ESPN and beating NIU on prime time television. We have a gang of people coming back, and did everyone forget we had a top recruiting class? This was not because of JD it was because of our "improved facilities". The fact that Mike Shanahan said on national television that we had the best indoor faciltiy he has ever seen said alot during the Hall of Fame game. Hell the new QB recruit talks about our facilities,...... if we build a nice reasonable sized stadium with the ability to add more seats people will come to see the stadium, and what the team is about, after that it is up to the team to keep the momentum going.What more do people want? How much clearer can it be!?!Finally everyone on this board that calls themselves a zips fan needs to start saying "we" and not "they" We need a new stadium, "our team needs to do this etc. Go to the Buckeyes boards if you don't know what I am getting at!! That was exactly what I thought until I went down to the GMAC bowl this year. The parade, hospitality, and atmosphere is better in Mobile than Detroit. I've been to 3 MCB so I know what both cities offer. I'll gladly take Mobile over Detroit any day. I am sure you are right when it comes to atmosphere but I don't think we would have nearly had that kind of fan support that we did

I asked for some suggestions on clever E.S.P.N sign's and stuff like that. But then I thought he this is a chance for me to say what I feel!!! What's your thoughts on a sign that reads:... Give the MAC the Big Least's BCS Bid!!!! Thanks,
