Amen, brother. And getting to shower after the game cleaning the film that forms on your body after having to be around buckeye fan is very refreshing...

Memo to Gene Smith: Schedule a few more MAC schools. -
This is ridiculous! The way we change AD's, there is no way he should be able to schedule past 2013...

Akron September opponent's coach in hot water?

Actually, sitting in the shoe last Saturday for three and a half hours felt no different than sitting on one of those. Thanks for reminding me.... -
This is a terrible schedule for traveling to away games....WVU on a Monday...Marshall on Jan 1....BG and Buffalo on Wednesday's.....BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

If Akron would have beaten OSU yesterday, it would affect Ohio State the way Appy State beating scUM affected scUM. Most laughed at scUM rather than gave credit to Appy State. And you have the audacity to call Zips' fans "haters" on this board!!! tosu has a trademark on hate. The only scUM are buckeye honks like you. And as always, go away...

awwwwww - were those mean Ohio State boys blitzing you guys. Maybe you can try scheduling Lake Erie College or Baldwin Wallace. Wait a minute...Buckeye fans telling UA who to schedule... Lake Erie and BW are teams that tosu be adding to their schedule once they get through the rest of the MAC and a few more I-AA teams...

If only we had Nike to pay for these, I'm all for it..... LeBron gives us some shoes....Big wup!!!!

I can assure ALL Zips fans that Barley House is behind you 100%. ALL staff will be wearing new custom Akron/Barley House shirts during ALL Zips games. I just posted the shirt on the Akron Barley House Facebook account. Our beer special for Saturday game days are 22 oz Zips keep the cup (Bud or Bud Light) for only $3.25! I would be more than pleased to see the place taken over by Zips fans EVERY Saturday (just like the December Soccer games). Your voices were heard in the past and we made the proper changes. Let's start this season off the right way with a HUGE party in support of YOUR Akron Zips!!!! -Ryan Hartzell -Barley House Owner I'm not buying it!!!

Akron September opponent's coach in hot water?

Because there's a proven path to the top for non-BCS schools in the NCAA. Boise State has done it in football. Butler has done it in basketball. The Zips have done it in soccer. How does the path to the top for non-BCS midmajors compare in your hypothetical system? If the ncaa went away tomorrow, within five years, a better organization could be established where teams can more fairly compete. I couldn't agree more with your take, with exception to the above sentence. How/where will there ever be an organization that cares enough about the mid-majors to make it a fair system in football. I just don't see it. We will not be able to complete for the athletes the bcs schools get and money will always be a problem...What could the "new" organization do? ESPN and the TV contracts will dictate that 99% of the funds will go to bcs schools. In order to make a few bucks, we will be stuck playing teams like the Red and Silver and get about 3% of what they make on the game...Who is going to change this? Like others, I see a 4 conference/16 team league forming and we will be stuck on the outside...again... -
I beg to differ... The Really Big Show is the best locally... Rizzo is a cluless old time homer who makes really uninformed predictions and statements..Thankfully he has Hammer to lay the wood to the buckeye honks and negative Ned to keep it in balance. Rome was good..Now, not so much. Stephen A probably has the best takes, too bad he is off the air.. Love DP as in interviewer...

Congrats to him. No way should TW hire a buckeye honk to host a Zips fan/coaches show. Frenchy should be doing the show.

I doubt it will be open after a soccer game... Better go before the game....

The Saturday scrimmages are not open. The have an idiot pacing in front of the gate making sure you do not look in. You need to be on the list or Sgt. Schultz will get you...

The 2012 Recruiting Thread

Doesn't Gilliam have only one year of eligibility? -
Expect more of the same when it comes to UA football/athletics until the Care-Factor changes. Every time this topic comes up, you can count in CK to point fingers at the administration, GP1 to talk money or lack thereof and ZipsWin! to blame a lame alumni association. Fact is, everyone is correct. Things will change when those involved and have real control of the programs start to give a damn. Does the board of trustees really care about UA football? How many faculty, staff, students and alumni really care about UA football? I agree that the administration has been lacking over the course of the last 25 years. But how to find people that give a damn when they are looking for the next best deal- money or prestige to go somewhere else? Hell, Mr. Infocision himself doesn’t really care about UA football, he’ll be rooting for the buckeyes on September 3rd. Even the miniscule fan base that UA has is somewhat segmented. There are many who really like soccer and hoops, but are in Columbus on Saturdays in the fall as they wouldn’t have the backbone to support football at UA. Let’s face it, being a Zips football fan isn’t the most popular thing to do and most people really do like being popular… I realize comparing football to soccer and hoops at UA isn’t completely fair, however it makes a point. Caleb wins the national freaking title at UA and then does what? He doesn’t leave UA for a few more bucks or a name school. He heads over seas recruiting like a maniac in an attempt to win it all again. He gives a damn. Dambrot makes the NCAA tournament two of the last three years and there is no inkling that he has any desire to make a few more bucks elsewhere. He gives a damn. Could we make the same argument for football? No way. Let’s dream for a minute that i-Coach goes 11-1 this year, the buckeyes are hit with a 10-year probation, two-dozen three-star recruits begin verballing at UA and then i-Coach gets an offer to coach elsewhere. Sorry folks, he’s gone. So, while the dream was great, unfortunately getting people to really give a damn about UA football may be an even bigger pipe dream.

Great questions. I like guys who are good leaders and help the team succeed in spite of maybe not having the best athletic ability (see how much I like Brett Biggs in football). For basketball, this guy was Dru J. Too small, too skinny, to slow, not a great shooter, but he won and was invaluable to his coach. I know he isn't the greatest player ever, but he deserves a mention in this topic. No Marcel Boyce? ZipsWin! is going to have something to say about that. Thanks GP1. Marcel gets my vote.

The answer is NO. The list is very impressive. I wish UA fans and alums did the same. -But, Columbus isn't two hours away -North Carolinians haven't been brian washed when it comes to college football, so they can and do think for themselves. -Locals and alums have school pride, so they donate. -Most are probably respectful of their school......Ours are too stupid to even know the name of their school, let alone donate. -There are more....too tired to think of them. I'll take a few more season ticket holders....Heck, I'll settle for a few more single game purchasers at this rate...
