We have a hard enough time getting Akron fans to say the University of Akron. And we've had decades to learn it. Good luck with that...

Sorry, I am not buying it nor really looking forward to the game. Not yet, anyway. Maybe by Friday. Sunday and today still feel like a kick in the gut similiar to the feeling after the Penno shot. Last year I thought the team would turn the corner after the Tennessee game and where did that get us... That said, I am totally on the KP16 bandwagaon now. If we can light a fire under Chisolm, then I will be a believer.

You will never get the PI call on the final play on the road, but the series of calls starting with the PI on us that gave UM the lead was garbage. Then the hold call that put us in a first and 20 was a typical, the game is getting too close, let's make it harder. Then, when we overcome it and get the first and goal at the one, what do you know, they review it, make it 3rd down and run off 9 seconds. I want my 9 seconds and 1st and goal back! Why even play the game if this is how the game will be called? Give us our check and let's just stay home... If this nonsense happened to c-bus, Ann Arbor would still be on fire, and who could blame them.

Ok soccer experts, please explain why the soccer game was over after we scored on the penalty kick. There was still time left on the clock in the OT period. Every OT game I have seen the entire 10 minutes are played out.

Can anyone who purchased Michigan tickets through UA confirm the section UA is in?

Really? If I turned on the radio and did not know who the coach was, I would have had a hard time deciding if Ownes, Brookhart, Ianello or "other" was coaching. The game was a carbon copy of dozens of Zips games I've seen before. Very disappointing doesn't really sum up how I felt yesterday.

As for the non-conference schedule I say we: Schedule ONE money game and THREE win(able) games. Schedule ONE money game and THREE win(able) games. Schedule ONE money game and THREE win(able) games. Schedule ONE money game and THREE win(able) games. Schedule ONE money game and THREE win(able) games.

Wait a minute. I thought the BCS powers were going to create their own "division" and only play each other. If this new division hasn't been created by 2015, the lucks will be finding high school teams to play. Let's see, the MAC/YSU to FAMU to high school. Anything to guarantee a victory!!

Is this really you ZippyFan? You sound like someone else!

The response posted to the article says it best.......Although he forgot to mention win a national championship.... Dude is dead on! When you are no longer a child, you put away childish things... … that includes rooting for the “state school” that you don’t attend. Particularly when they are PLAYING THE SCHOOL THAT YOU ACTUALLY DO ATTEND. Sorry, rooting for Big Ten U. when you attend a MAC school is the epitome of weak sauce. The MAC is damn good. Fights above it’s weight class. Went to an Orange Bowl, hoops Sweet 16 and College World Series in the past year. Imagine what the league could accomplish if its students and alumni actually paid as much attention to it as they do some school with which they have no connection whatsoever. Also, given the disrespect that Big Ten fans heap on MAC schools, and the way Big Ten schools use Midwest state legislatures to screw over MAC universities when it comes to funding, I have no earthly idea why any sane MAC student or alum would want to cheer for them. by Papa Lou BSU on Aug 1, 2013 | 10:58 PM ↩reply

While I enjoyed going to Tenneesee and we gave them a game, I, too wouldn't mind playing a schedule where we had a realistic chance to win every game. So while the commish of the Big 12 is hinting at the 5 power conferences ONLY playing each other and keeping all the money, for themselves, the big ten has only agreed at this point not to play FCS teams. A huge difference and one that is meaningless for the big ten. Big deal that YSU is not an option, yet Alabama Birmingham is!! The question is can you get all the commissioners of the big five to agree with Bowlsby. Maybe in time, but not so fast. Also, can you get the AD's and coaches within the big five to sign-on to playing only other big five conference teams? At some point, the best teams will run out of cupcakes within the big five and will actually have to play non-conference games that they might lose. This will not be very attractive when push comes to shove, especially for coaches. Likewise, teams at the bottom of the big five will all be starting the year 1 and 3 and this will not fly either. I am sure the folks in Purdue for example, like the fact that in today's college football they can start the year 3 and 1 and then fight for 0.500. In the big five only scenario, hello to 3 and 9 every year. Go luck with that. Let the fun begin...

Sure, I can see this happening. But to say there are 64ish legit D1 programs who are actually playing for the NC is a joke. In ten years the big 64 will be split again into yet another division. Hell, half the big ten should just jump ship now and come play with the MAC. And who the heck will the big ten schedule if they are only playing with each other? So much for c-bus getting any more games with North Central Florida Christian Academy....

And who is it that cannot wait until the season starts?

Zac is the last Zip I remember.

How 'bout them Cowboys! Love the signing! From one undrafted FA (Romo) to another.... Had the pleasure of meeting Dalton with JZ84 a few weeks back after a scrimmage. He said he is a "Zip for life'. Yesterday after the spring game had the chance to meet his dad. Thanked him as well. I noticed that his dad drove up in a pickup from Texas... Now I see why. ZipsWin! and family are penciling in a trip to big D next fall after he makes the team. We will be looking the Williams' up once in town....

The most widely debated topic in UA hoops history over the last 20 years was Andy Hipsher's back. Joe Dunn has nightly dreams about Andy to this day. Dude was pretty good, but not what everyone thinks he would have been if healthy... In the end, Dan was yet another UA coach who hung on for NINE stinkin years at UA. How was that even remotely possible?

Tell me how my bleep tastes! Your coach is a d-bag. The fouls were called today, they were not on Thursday. Michigan did kill you. VCU ran up the score on us. Big difference! Take your big boy basketball pants and get off our board. Go commiserate elsewhere.
-
No he didn't- Up 40 and still pressing. Total d-bag.

I cannot believe the responses posted about the VCU game. Look, VCU had the game won at the 5 minute mark of the first- half. No one is questioning the superior talent on the VCU squad. The players were dominating. It would have been nice for me to have had a chance to tip my hat to the players for their pure ability. Unfortunately, Shaka Smart blew that. He is a total d-bag and I hope the dude never wins another game. Any Zips fan not named Keith Dambrot that continues to root for Smart is a moron. His decision to continue to press the Zips full-court and shoot threes when he had a 30, 35 and 40 point league proves he is a d-bag. His total lack of sportsmanship was egregious. His decision to humiliate his former boss and former employer was uncalled for. He humiliated my alma mater for 25 minutes on national tv when there was no need for it. He had an opportunity to have his team work on its half-court defense and its half- court offense yet he chose to press and shoot threes for no other reason than to humiliate us. He still would have won by 30… I will be the first to piss on his grave. Screw Shaka Smart!

2013 MAC Men's Basketball Tournament
Zips Win! replied to originalrowdy's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Not my idea of fun. Buffalo had a real shot and McCrea was terrible down the stretch. Needed to bury them when they had a chance. Can't was 3-15 from the three line and still won... -
Pencil me in for the Tilted Kilt when the doors open on Friday.. Will stop by, however....

The Zips Win! jinx will take the blame for this one! Yesterday made me 1-6 going to UB over the last 13 years. The roommate said no more, but the ride is so easy and Santora's Pizza and Pub is an awesome place for wings and beer. Yes, UB is a tough match-up. But they had the perfect storm going yesterday. They drained threes from all over the court in the first half and they were allowed to foul us at will, with little getting called. We never got into a rhythm. Sorry folks, it's hard to score when getting hammered. I for one, am a believer that we are an outside/in team. While the front line can be dominate, I think we struggle at our spacing inside until we start hitting a few threes. Immediately is all opens up and Zeke and Tree then go work. The off-ball clutching and grabbing of our bigs made it tough and then we didn't hit enough threes to make UB honest. The effort was awesome. I didn't really see a tired team, just one frustrated because we could never get into a flow...

Good Luck getting the Zips faithful travelling to those schools!!
