  2. Greg Paulus named Orange's starting QB.Paulus is five months removed from finishing up his senior season as a point guard on Duke's basketball team.
  3. Joe Paterno is "excited to be alive, that's about it." This is his response when asked about his level excitement for the upcoming season.
  4. E.J. Carter, freshman weakside linebacker, forced into more meaningful action this season than expected because linebacker Derek Hines bolts.
  5. Good catch. Well done....haha I mean no offense, but you all look pretty stupid calling it the forward.I would have expected Zipmeister to catch that and correct us much sooner.
  6. I think we need a poll on who reads the forward to a book... I sure as heck don't...

  8. Bruce Gradkowski keeps getting reps with the second team, but to the untrained eye he seems to be being outplayed decisively by Charlie Frye per a Raider blog.Brandon Anderson update from Browns scrimmage.Andy Alleman worked at left guard with the No. 1 offense, because of an injury.Reggie Corner update from the Hall of Fame Game.
  9. Another PSU player DUI, backup offensive lineman Ako Poti.
  10. No surprise but Charlie Frye and QB Bruce Gradkowski are in competition for the Raiders' No. 3 quarterback spot.Chase Blackburn and Gerris Wilkinson are candidates to start at outside linebacker Week 1 in placed of suspended LB Michael Boley.Per Zips Blog by Vincent Dorsey, Reggie Corner will be trying to win the nickel cornerback position on the Buffalo Bills’ first-team defense when the team opens its 2009 training camp on July 25. Corner, a second-year pro, is considered the favorite to win the spot, after excelling in the role late last season and in the team’s spring practices.Bryan Williams still is without a team.
  11. ThanksI get to update my wallpaper. Were you able to? My picture was distorted.
  12. Erick Howard scored a 23 ACT in June.
  13. Thanks for the input, PSU1. I was going to post on the CBSSports site -- somebody probably knows the exact number . . . .That sounds low to me. I realize that each contract situation is different, but I think we got $650,000 from Wisconsin last year.I was thinking the same thing. Wisconsin was $650k for a contract that was made quite a few years in advance. This game is a last-minute addition to the schedule, so I imagine the going rate should be a bit higher.Boise St. gets $1.25 Million to face Hokies at FedEx. Now that is a nice pay day for a team scheduling a one-and-done. We should have gone with blue turf.
  14. He is already kicked off the team.
  15. The Soap Box Derby is July 25th. That means national media will be in town. Seems like a perfect opportunity for some pub.
  16. You should get a T-Shirt then.
  17. Of course not, the free market should set the price (capitalism). We just have to determine if we are players in the open market. If we are one of the most efficiently run U's in the US, we should be able to get some of those same smart people in a room to devise a plan to not lose great candidates due to money. There will always be a limit that we can't cross, that doesn't make economic sense, and I am sure "they" already have thought about this. If you want great talent, you typically have to pay for it, because their services are in demand. In the end, you get what you pay for, so the U had better get creative. Don't break the bank but pay the AD fairly to help establish a long, trusting relationship--and to make sure the AD's not lured away by a higher-paying job in 3 or 4 years.
  18. Saw him speak at the Frank L. Simonetti Distinguished Alumni Awards. Seems like he is good to go.
  19. Apparently U of A is one of the most efficient U's in the nation, so we could pony up a bit.
  20. Jason Taylor: "I'm ready to run through a brick wall for them" Unfortunately he doesn’t mean how motivated he is for the opening of the Zips’ new statdium.
  21. Agreed, media isn't as informative as it is sensational and divisive.
  22. Ooh Rah!!! (USMC) Hooyah Hey!!! (Navy) or Hooah!!! (Army) depending on which branch.
  23. Eric Maynor number 20 to Utah
  24. Per Zips Blog By: Vincent Dorsey Tate makes most of practice time with CFL’s Calgary Stampeders (June 15) About a week ago, I referenced a column on this blog that predicted UA football alum Jabari Arthur is in position for a break-out year in his first full season in the Canadian Football League. After being signed by the Calgary Stampeders in May, Davanzo Tate, a former teammate of Arthur at UA, is making a name for himself as well. In a recent preseason practice, Tate intercepted a pass and knocked down another in a red-zone situation while subbing for one of the team’s starting defensive backs. The two former Zips will continue preseason practice the rest of the month before the Stampeders begin the regular season July 1 against Montreal. Further down the blog...Arthur will begin his first full season in the CFL with a home game against Montreal on July 1. [Jermaine] Reid will begin his third CFL season as a Hamilton Tiger-Cat the same night with a home game against Toronto.
  25. In civilian work, military, or politics, people don't respect or follow titles. Your title may give you privelage, entitlement, or command respect, but no one respects or follows a title. They may fear the title but not follow or respect it. They follow knowledgeable, couragous, and hardworking individuals like Army Brig. Gen. Michael Walsh. She is certainly no lady. While her position commands the respect of "Ma'am", she deserves little in the way of personal or professional respect. Her arrogance and ignorance is telling.I am sure Brig. Gen. Walsh worked just as hard as her to earn his rank. While she may have worked hard to be elected (or received enough funds from PACs), does she know how hard Americans are working to bail out her state?
