  1. Hopefully Brandon Hefflin, former Toledo Rocket FB player, stays away this weekend. Things could get out of hand if attends. I couldn't forget that story, throwing a portable urinal at a police officer. Nice move. He still is holding the 7th position on the badjocks.com BAC leader board. That is some impressive company, with the likes of Jim McMahon, and Steve Fohley. For a "where are they now" update see his Columbus Destroyers bio.
  2. Check out this tidbit from athlonsports.com:“We think all the recruits can come in right away, but Bardo is a raw offensive talent who bench-presses 300 pounds, and we think could be special down the road,” Dambrot says.Oh those were the days, when I could throw around 300lbs on the bench-press...
  3. How in the heck did you earn a bachelor's degree with that kind of spelling and grammar? Was the degree from Can't? You may want to think about going back to elementary school first.
  4. Per Dictionary.com, a sport is "an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature."In all seriousness, "shooting" is most definitely a sport. I prefer to call it marksmanship. The trigger puller, if you will, has to been in shape, have excellent muscle control and relaxation, understand how to develop the correct bone support, and have controlled breathing. There is incredible amounts of mental focus and knowledge of one's body required. It demands complete concentration. Consider the focus like a batter in the batters box focusing on a pitch until they can see the seems of the ball. Or, the pitchers focus on the glove of the catch, trying to throw the perfect pitch. The shooter has to practice getting into the shooting positions until they are considered a natural position for them. Complete body control. Discipline is everything. It takes extreme discipline to hold these uncomfortable positions, to not jerk the trigger, to look at the front sight post when it’s so easy to focus on the target instead. In the words of my fellow comrades, "sight alignment, sight picture, right between the eyes, a slow steady squeeze and another commie dies."
  5. Agreed... If anyone isn't, then they must have had low expectations.
  6. More info from Rivals.com. He is #43 (as a DB) in the Ohio top 50 ranking.Per Max Emfinger, he is #21 (as a FS) out of the 2006 OHIO SUPER 75 SENIOR PLAYMAKERS. He qualifies he as a top 300 playmaker in the country. It doesn't look like this list has been updated since July, he called this a mid-summer list.
  7. Per Scout.com, Gamble's only offer is from Akron so far.
  8. Why are you jumping to conclusions? If zipsbandman cares to any degree at all about tradition, it is possible to care less. If ZPM does not care at all (Zero), than it is impossible to care less. There is no caring less then Zero, it is impossible to care less than that amount. Let me put it to you in terms you can probably relate: Toledo Rockets couldn't have less sex. This means that you don't have any sex and therefore can not have less sex than not having sex at all. For the Zips fan: We could have less sex because We are getting laid all the time and therefore have some action to spare. You bore me with you subpar intellect.
  9. To clarify, even though I noted you said you understand. I was making a statement about the players who lost their job to Sutton when they make those kind of decisions. It was late when I typed the inital post. If I don't make sense now I guess I don't have another excuse. I was thinking about someone, like a 3 star type player for example. He wanted to go to Big 11 school but only a crappy one will offer a scholarship with the chance of starting one day. Instead why not come to another school in the MAC, play for a competitive football team, and start sooner rather than sit behind a 4-5 star player or have a blue chip Frosh come in and take your place. I thought people play for the love of the game not to sit on the bench on gameday or get beat up in practice. I guess at 17 when you make that commitment you think you are the greatest rather than see the big picture.
  10. I think I am might change the direction of this thread with my comment. First let me say this: didn't you mean, get embarassed by OSU, Mich, Mich St., Iowa, and Penn St. every year. I did notice you said a chance and that is a key word. I don't understand all of the "kids" who go to a larger school and rot on the bench. I was never recruited by a D-I school so I don't know what it's like. Maybe they get star struck but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Why sit on the bench for three years and than have a true freshman come your senior year and take away your senior year. Some of these recruits could start as sophmores at another school and play in more competitive games week in and week out. I think we all know what I'm trying to say.A free education at NW would be nice. Maybe that's it or the girls ?
  11. I don't know if you were joking but I found that hysterical.
  12. Dantonio my not be there long enough to build one, per vandelaysports.com"This game may be an audition for [JD] at Cincy as Mark Dantonio could be gone after this season. "Could JD be another one to jump ship to UC?
  13. Per Vandelay Sports:Television: FSN Ohio, Comcast Local, CSN Chicago, Time Warner 13 Buffalo (Michael Reghi, play-by-play; Bob Chmiel, analyst; Jeff Phelps, sideline).I haven't seen anything about internet options.
  14. If you do do that, I recommend that you make sure he is not taking any supplements that may react with the pain killers and cause an allergic reaction. Also do not let him take 35 pills at once people may assume he tried suicide, oh wait, the pills were just in the drawer and the publicist didn't know that.
  15. DK is probable:Injuries - *Tail back Dennis Kennedy (9/27, shoulder) is probable for Saturday s game against Can't State. The Sports Network
  16. We're not. According to the Adidas poll posted today we already dropped out.
  17. Upon further review, there is indisputable video evidence to prove that the ruling on the field stands: due to the fact that their all time football record is 288-461-28. That is a losing percentage of 63%.
  18. Unfortunately not today, we lost 1-0.
  19. Per the OBR, Fyre was hit 19 times and I don't think they were exaggerating."... Charlie Frye [got] sacked seven times and hit another 19 times."That is brutal.
  20. Point taken, but that would me I couldn't like Cribbs than because he played for the Golden flushes. Even though Ben seems like an idiot, if he succeeds the MAC succeeds and the MAC builds a reputation.
  21. I totally has forgotten about him.
  22. I want to have a little fun here: - In reference to Chuck Frye's play, just to keep it in the right context. (see link:http://zipsnation.org/index.php?showtopic=3493)I know I went way back for this post but it stuck with me. I am interested to see how msopher evaluates Bruce after week 5. I know he is a "rook" playing on an 0-3 team, he was the first Toledo QB draft pick in 30 years (Gene Swick in 1976 (fourth round-Cleveland Browns)), and has attempted 6 passes in his young NFL career, but we will find out the reality of the situation soon. Good thing for him he has a bye this coming week. I wouldn't be suprised if Rattay takes over the starting job just because of the experience factor. Honestly, I don't know how Bruce played in the preseason, he may have been lights out or he could have looked like he was playing with the lights out. I don't know but we'll see for sure on 10/8. Gruden is a smart coach, I'm sure they will have a solid game plan. I always root for MAC players, except when they play the Brownies. I hope he succeeds and Simms never takes back the starting job.
  23. FYI, Zips Win the McLaughlin Tournament
  24. I guess because NC State beat BC, they are suddenly good enough to have points in the Harris Interactive Poll with 7 points. That's good for us. Not one MAC team is in their poll, unless I missed them. 47 teams got points.
  25. Would be a good idea because Cleveland State has nothing much sports wise going for them. Unfortunately I don't know that their distribution system could handle that large of an area. Unless, you are willing to get up at three and deliver papers for them. You are right but I guarantee putting an OSU headline on that paper jumps sales, maybe even dramatically. I do think that sucks and they could give more pub to the Zips inside and not one Buckeye article after another. Quality reporting inside could lead to a future of front page articles once the fan base is there. I agree but I think we are in the wrong forum/blog for this discussion.
