  1. Was at the JAR today and bought my tickets. I had to wait in a line and after I left there was a line behind me. I think everyone infront of me was asking for MCB tickets. Hopefully it continues to be that steady. :macc:
  2. Max Emfinger has Wells as a fullback. I don't know why, he doesn't say. He does not have the tickmark that says Max has seen him play though. His site was updated 12/12/05 and he still has him verbally committed to Ohio State. Of course everything is speculation. Nobody knows except for Wells.
  3. Was at the JAR on Wednesday night and they were sould out of MAC Champs Fear the Roo shirts. They had just plan Fear the Roo sweatshirts if memory serves me correctly. They had plenty of MACC shirts, hoodies, longsleeve, and hats.
  4. Just heard on Sportstalk 850 that the MCB will be on their station. Good that a Cleveland station is playing the game. Nothing has been posted on their website about it. Heck they don't really have anything on their website. http://www.wknr.com/ :macc:

  6. Wednesday, December 07, 2005 Frye is starting QB Sunday vs. Cincinnati. 12:15 p.m. Tony Grossi Plain Dealer Reporter Romeo Crennel changed his mind and announced that Charlie Frye would be the Browns starting quarterback Sunday in Cincinnati. Crennel, who originally intended to keep his starter a secret, said that it would be unfair to Frye and Trent Dilfer to wait until Sunday. The coach broke the news to Frye and Dilfer on Tuesday and told the rest of the team when it reported to work on Wednesday. Crennel said he would insert Dilfer into the game if he felt Frye were "overwhelmed" in Cincinnati. Dilfer said he didn't agree with the move but he would do everything he could to prepare Frye for his first start on the road. Cleveland Plain Dealer

  9. What about Joe Patero? More expectations and was already under pressure from his 2004, 4-7 (2-6), and 2003, 3-9 (1-7), seasons. Went 10-1 (7-1) this year. I bet George O'Leary didn't have too high of expectations. Plus, Joe is close to 80 years old.
  10. Maybe if enough people request a DVD, Championshipdvd.com would put one together. Add you suggestion to the link below: Championship DVD
  11. Did anyone see the Zips were number 6 in on the Top Ten Plays of the Week? Showed Frye’s pass to Edwards for a TD, MACC final play, and talked about their soccer team's Elite Eight appearance. Berman even went on to say how the Zips were on top of Collegiate Athletics for the week. Made me smile from ear to ear, I thought it was nicely done.
  12. He outshined the #1 overall selection in the draft. Alex Smith, 16/24, 185 pass, 3INT Charlie Frye, 13/20, 226 pass, 2TD
  13. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2241911 The final results are in and the flushes are #3 in ESPN's Bottom 10. Pretty big accomplishment!
  14. Never mind, I found out they lost on a shootout. Bummer... Still a great season!
  15. http://www.ncaasports.com/soccer/mens/game...01/41/div1/2005 I don't know how this works. A 1 to 1 tie is the final. So what happens now?
  16. Forgot to put "sober" in there.
  17. In the same edition, same moron Pete Fiutak has this to say And he goes on to praise JD's coaching as one of the "Best Coaching jobs you may not have noticed" "How about the Akron Zips? With no Charlie Frye at the helm, a MAC East title wasn’t seemingly on the to-go menu, but head ball coach JD Brookhart has this program in Detroit next week against Northern Illinois for a MAC championship." So which way does he want it? Overrated or the Best Coaching job you may not have noticed and a MAC East title that wasn’t seemingly on the to-go menu. To me, that's a "flip flop" and something I'd expect from the ABJ. Pete can't praise a team one day and then rip their division as overrated days later. He either needs to stick to his first article or don't write one at all. No MAC games have been played since 11/27 so why did Pete change his mind? I still think he is an Idiot.
  18. Speaking of MAD East, Pete Fiutak of CollegeFootballNews.com has me mad right now. Dude says the MAC East is Overrated and the MAC West is Underrated. What an Idiot. MAC East overated
  19. Game Breakdown A lot of cool stats for all you stat gurus. For example, 1...Number of times the Zips have played a football game indoors in school history. Akron lost to Northern Iowa, 20-17, on Oct. 6, 1979 at the UNI Dome. Ohio State apologist Kirk Herbstreit will be the color analyst for ESPN. That should be reason enough to go to the game rather than watch it.
  20. Bummer...Thanks for the info.
  21. 4+ star quick offensive guard Bob Gulley (6-4, 274, 5.0, Berea, OH) according to Max Emfinger at http://www.maxemfingerrecruiting.com. He calls a Four-Star Plus Players are considered to be in a Category of about the Top 500 Players in the the Country, but there may more than 500 Players in this Category, because if a Player is a "4+" on film, then he is a "4+" and not a "3". Zips are on his list along with BG and TOLEDO. Anybody know anything about this kid?
  22. Rec Center open to public UA invites public to use campus exercise and wellness facility by Coda Pritchard Staff Reporter The Rec Center has traditionally served the fit and soon-to-be fit students and faculty at the University of Akron. They may need to wait a little longer to use their favorite piece of equipment. The Rec Center is now offering its facilities to the local community and UA alumni. According to Roy Ray, vice president of business and finance and chief financial officer, the Rec Center opened to the public to reduce costs and to supplement the budget. "We've only been open a year and we want to optimize the Rec to better serve the students," he said. The Rec Center features a swimming pool, an indoor track, a fitness floor, table tenis, basketball courts, a weightlifting area and studios that hold aerobics classes. While the use of the facilities is free for students, the new members will be charged an annual membership fee, which will provide additional revenue to the Rec Center. The Rec Center will limit membership to 1,000 new individuals to prevent overcrowding. According to the director of Recreation and Wellness, Brian Lewis, 1,000 people may seem like a lot but they are equipped for the addition. Last week, the Rec Center had 2,500 students in one day, and it can accommodate up to 7,500 people. All of the benefits offered to students in the past will remain. Lewis said he would continue to look for ways to best suit the needs of the students. "There are 11 managers programming for the students and campus base," he said. Andrew Clevenger, a member of the fitness staff, does not think the students will be bothered by the new members because they will probably come during the early morning and evening hours. "I doubt the students will notice," he said. "It seems like the public doesn't want to be here when the students are here." Lawrence Liptack, an accounting student, said the new members won't bother him. "A facility this big that can be opened to the public would provide a nice service to the community," he said. While some students are concerned about the Rec Center becoming overcrowded, most don't think sharing the space will be a problem. "It depends on the time of day," senior Mike Archinal said, who frequently visits the Rec Center. "There are times when it's packed." Overall, sharing the space will not affect the UA campus, he said. According to Lewis, the Rec Center will remain the students throughout the process of accepting new members. "Our main mission was, and always will be, for the students." http://www.buchtelite.com/2005/0908/news_05.shtml
  23. Anyone can have a bad century. With the 49-24 loss to Purdue, Akron is now 1-14 against the Big Ten. The last win came over Ohio State ... in 1894  http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/4864824 The time has to be coming...
  24. Buckzip, If I'm not mistaken radio stations pay the university to broadcast their games, not the U paying them.
  25. Per the Beacon on 7/6/05, Fox Sports Radio is now on WJMP in Can't. For some reason the Beacon thinks 1520 is an Akron station when they broadcast from Can't. I tried tuning it in and you can't even get a signal on Route 8 south of Howe Ave. Fox Sports on 1520 AM The Fox Sports Radio Network and the nationally syndicated Jim Rome radio show is now broadcasting on WJMP 1520-AM in Akron... Fox Sports Radio programming formerly had been heard on 1350-AM in the Akron market. Why would 640 WHLO broadcast a Can't game, shouldn't they switch affiliates to 1520? I think they are just wasting air time in Akron broadcasting a Can't game. BTW. "The Big One" already broadcast Buckeye games, it would be sweet to steal those air waves though. On a side note, I never noticed before but it is pretty slick how when you type "K-E-N-T" you automatically turn it to "Can't." I just always typed as "Can't."
