Does anyone have an idea how we're doing on injuries?

FINALLY, some Akron traffic on their boards. Apparently we have a weak defense and our offense is horrible. This may be true, but I can't wait to see how the Zips do tomorrow. Lots of improvement (and injuries) since we started this brutal stretch. It'll be interesting to see if the offense breaks out.

It's 8:00 PM and zippy is up by 340 votes! I'll have to vote early tomorrow before going to the game!

Thursday Night......still no posts about the Akron vs. WMU Game.I feel we are being overlooked.....hopefully not just by the fans.

Something I Posted in another post on WMU:Something else to consider, WMU turns the ball over a LOT! 14 times this year....8 INT and 6 fumbles. Akron is +7 in the turnover dept., so lets hope the butter fingers continue....this may again be the difference in the game!

I understand that it won't be a sellout. I understand that I can walk up to the gate and get tickets. What I don't understand is why this program doesn't do the simple little things that make a difference. Sure, I can sit anywhere in the stadium. 500 Akron fans sitting at random points throughout a 30,000 seat stadium should give people the impression that we travel well...... All I'm asking is for UA to have tickets to AKRON games where AKRON fans can sit next to each other. Am I the only person who feels that this is a game that matters and we should try to win?

OSU was an exception. I have ALWAYS gotten my away tickets through UA just a few days before the game and have never had problems. OSU wanted the tickets back so they could sell them......I doubt WMU is gonna sell out!

I called the UA ticket office today to get some seats for the WMU Game this Saturday. After some confusion I was told that UA has no tickets and that I need to contact WMU to get seats.WHAT?!!! YOU MEAN THAT THERE IS NOTHING BEING DONE TO GET AS MANY ZIPS FANS TO THE GAME AS POSSIBLE!?!?! NO BUS NO NOTHING!?!?! YOU AREN'T EVEN SELLING TICKETS TO THE GAME! Why is our AD so Mickey Mouse!So, since this is my first trip to Waldo.....is anyone else going and where should I sit?

As you can see they quickly forget about the task at hand and start worrying about "NEXT YEAR" I see a trend here.....NEXT YEAR

OK, Maybe I'm looking at different info than everyone else, but I think the Zips pull off the "Upset" in this one. We've played a HELL of a schedule this year......and with the exception of the 2nd half last week, our D has been STELLAR. All WMU has is an offense. Matchup:Good WMU O vs. Good UA D = Western 24Bad WMU D vs. Avg and improving UA. O = Akron 31We got blown out in ONE HALF by an undefeated Big East team and suddenly we're a worthless pile of crap.....I don't buy that for one second.

Good idea. I have seen some of Zipsrifle's stuff, he does a good job.Thanks. I do have to say that I have had a tough go this year. I've been playing a lot with stencils.....with little success. I've tried some other approaches with making my own car magnets, but my latest attempt did not stand up to the rain durability test. I'll have a breakthrough at some point though.

Ahhh, fans. A year ago we were begging the man to stay, and now we want to kick him to the curb. The man was a genius at the end of 2005 when frankly, we really, really SUCKED in the middle of the season and stumbled into the MAC Championship game. Am I frustrated....yes. But I'm willing to see how we do in MAC play.

I've been lurking on a couple of the WMU Boards over the past 2 nights. You would never know that they play Akron this week. Not a Peep about the game. Great point that we don't know all the details as to what is going on. Did anyone consider that we might be starting CJ11 to see if he CAN do damage to WMU while minimizing mistakes? If he can, great, we minimize turnovers and roll up the points. If he isn't getting the job done, put in CJ7 and let him run with it. In the end, I think if we need CJ7, we'll get him in the game.

Sorry. I don't think such a thing exists. I have to resort to making things myself. I've been making my own stuff for years. Sometimes it's kinda tricky, but I've had good luck. I've thought about starting some threads known as "The Zips Fan Survival Guide" where I post the stuff I've done (Flag pole, Fear the roo magnet, Shirts, magnets, chairs, etc.). UA is terrible when it comes to giving the fans stuff to show support to the University.

BTW....I'm just a nerd looking at #'s, FWIW.

This should be a great game. After last week, I don't know what to think of the Zips. our offense showed signs of life late in the Can't game and early in the UCONN game, but then died. Our D is beat up. I don't see us as 10 point underdogs.I'm just starting to do some research on Western, but it appears that they don't have much of a D (Ranked 96 in total D). This could be just what the Dr. ordered for our Offense. Think about it, outside of our first game Army, we've played against some damn good defenses. 2 Big 10 teams (OSU is 2nd in total D right now), the top ranked MAC D in Can't, and UCONN who is 5th in total D. That's some pretty tough going....I hope we breakout this week. On the flip side, they can put up the points...no less than 24 in any game this season, so we'll need our D to be at it's best. Looks like they've got to decent backs. West gets about 50 yds per game on the ground and about the same through the air. Bonds had a field day at Toledo, racking up 143 yards and looks to good for somewhere between 50 and 100 ypg. At receiver, Simmons was the man early in the season avg. over 100 ypg., but has fallen off.....maybe he's hurt or something. Well, I think the Rifle team would disagree. If the rowdies showed up to a Rifle Match, there would be problems. We like fans.....if we can't hear them!

I think something has to be done, but I have no experience in merging two similar entities that are close, but I would have to imagine that eliminating duplicate programs would have to save money. Like I said before, I think they should leverage the internet to help downsize. Classes could be taken virturally, not just between 2 campuses, but throughout the entire state. In NE Ohio, YSU is the 11th largest in the state (~11,000), CSU is the 10th largest Public University in the state (~16,000) while Akron is the 5th largest (~23,500) and Can't is the 3rd largest(~33,500). I can see where merging these universities would make sense. Conventional wisdom says that take the smaller universities and merge them with the larger ones. That would make 2 universities with 40,000 in enrollment.I would not put it past Columbus to make Akron a branch campus of CSU. I am one of the people that believe a strong University is KEY to a cities future. With that said, Cleveland holds more sway than Akron, and the powers that be would be more than happy to sacrifice Akron to help out Cleveland. All the downsizing would take place in Akron and the administration would move to Cleveland.

That money isn't made by profit from the gates though. Miami has a HUGE fund they have been building. Akron will have to sell tickets to get to where Miami is, and that means winning!

We'd better have more than 4 home games if they expect people to shell out that kind of money.Why is it that since there is now a 12 game schedule, that every team doesn't play 6 away and 6 home games? I know the reason why.... but this is one of those things that makes perfet sense to everyone. The NCAA talks about parity, so why not make this a rule???
