  1. Seems to me the best way this can help the Zips would be if the Catholics decide to take their BB and go away from the BE FB side. If those 8 teams were to stick together and add 2 or 4 more, they could have a 10/12 team league that still demands 6+ bids to the NCAA tournament every year, and has the networks falling all over themselves to get a Weekend National TV contract in place. Most likely 2 to take would have to be Dayton & Xavier. Next 2 in line maybe St. Louis & Duquesne .. or they could reach over to Creighton. Duquesne brings a good TV market. Losing Dayton and Xavier might gut the A10 enough to push Temple & UMass to consider the MAC for everything. This presumes that there is no BE FB left with defections to the ACC (UConn & Rutgers, maybe SFla to replace FSU), SEC (WVU) and Big12 (UC & Louisville). IF the BE isn't around to be grabbing ECU, UCF & Temple .. what reasonable option do they have. That's about the best way this chaos can benefit the Zips. Moves MAC hoops upstream slightly.
  2. I stopped right there. Sounds sadder than Brian's Song.
  3. The music's fine. Let me clarify. I see HS bands on Friday nights do stuff like this at least 2 or 3 times a season. Why is a college band standing still playing a song and then doing some jumping jacks in place that awesome? 20 years ago, my friends & I were in HS doing this type of thing on the muddy fields of the old Metro Conference. This clip just doesn't show me anything out of the ordinary.
  4. Exactly what about this is so great or unusual?
  5. Not an ulimited time frame .. but more than Browns Fans' 16 games. It's still early. Progress will be demonstrated in ways other than the win column before the wins stack up. I think we need patience. Go Zips!
  6. When the individual hired has had ample opportunity to demonstrate his ability to implement the vision which he illustrated to TW, the search committee, and LP, resulting in his hire. And when the demonstration of that vision, with all the resources required to test it out, proves that it's the wrong vision for UA Football. The team lost this week by one score .. was in the game through out, on the road. Execution continues to be a problem in the passing game, and there was an untimely red-zone turnover. They lost by 8. It's not time to shut down the program. For me, 1 season and 4 or 5 games is not enough time. UA has been a mediocre (or worse) FB program for all but 2 years of it's time in FBS. Frankly, they're not that far from mediocre now. I believe it to be unreasonable to expect radical results and discharge staff after staff if they don't hit some magic success criteria held by the fans in the short run. We have the Browns to do that for us. We all want sustained success here. You want it, I want it, everyone on the board wants it, LP wants it, TW wants it .. and newsflash: RI & his staff want it. Building a durable, sustainable program that we can all be proud to call our own isn't happening in 18 months. Not here, not @ Temple, not anywhere. In my opinion, trying a quick fix would be the same as skim coating the concrete at the Rubber Bowl, selling naming rights, and calling it a new stadium. We didn't do that with the Big Dialer, and I don't think we should do it with the team. This needs some time. A strength of the UA Administration, both in Buchtel Hall and the JAR is planning and execution. The strategic plans don't change with the winds. LP set forth a long term vision for UA that took time and diligence to execute. AD after AD here at UA has practiced similar restraint and efforts where it came to Athletics. Why push the panic button now? Pulling support from the program at this juncture doesn't do much other than that .. pull support from the program. The majority of those who are funded by the program are our student athletes: the players. I get the frustration .. I read it here everyday .. I hear it .. it's fine to be frustrated. It's also fine and perfectly normal to not renew the tickets if you're not enjoying the Saturdays of football. Burning your hard earned money up on a billboard that's not supportive of UA Football players is your business, have at it. I figure there's other places that cash can actually go to productive ends, be it at UA or elsewhere. Just my $0.02. Go Zips!
  7. I might have around $1200.00 to contribute to that idea next fall. Is there no Food Bank or Women & Children's Shelter in Stark County?
  8. Disagree. There are something like 500 student athletes @ UA. 400? .. and 85 of them are FB players. Less than 25% of the Athletic Department. The AD is responsible for a Department that includes much more than Football. While his choice of a FB coach hasn't generated a quick turnaround, it isn't the only lens through which an AD's tenure should be judged. The only AD with a team National Championship on his watch. Multiple other MAC titles. Highest finish ever in Directors Cup, Efficiency Cup .. and Department Academic standing is at an all time high. Multiple facility improvements. Vast improvements in media and fan resources. All of these things at TW's direction. I get that a single decision by TW has many of us frustrated. But it's not the only job he has to do. And with most of them, he is excelling. Regardless, the FB ship is starting to turn. Slowly, but it is. B) B) Go Zips!
  9. I do like the EMU announcers.
  10. Just need to create a break for the Zips, and put 7 on the board quickly. Lots of time.
  11. Are you sure you wouldn't like to retract or edit your question? What exactly are you insinuating??!
  12. Hey Dorfman, I thought it was fat and stupid? LOL! I think the line from Animal house was fat, dumb, and stupid. Can't Dorfman - Hey, are you guys playing cards? That movie was a classic! So close................. Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son. Phew .. so I'm ok with only two of those?
  13. I'm struck by a few things in this thread. #1 - It seems like people are almost looking for something to complain about. Check the attendance, over 5K at the game, and multiple reports that over 2k were students? That's TREMENDOUS. It's awesome .. it's something that every student should be proud of. #2 - Can we find a way to get those students to go to the JAR, 1/2 of the time? I know things are different with the layout .. but surely there's a way to build on this in the fall and carry it to the winter to get 700-1000 students in the JAR for a game or 2. The impact that even 500 Rowdies could have on a hoops game is potentially big .. I'd sure like to witness it. Better yet, come to a basketball game, and ACT like you're at the soccer games. That'd be cool .. and unique in the landscape of hoops. There have been games at the Q where the Rowdies really shined with those activities .. enough that people around me (I sit in MAC pack seats, not the UA section @ the Q) have remarked about it. #3 - Crabbing about who did or didn't do the right thing during the game, and creating a class system within the Rowdies is a sure fire way to cut that number in half or more before the next big game. You want to make sure the next national TV game doesn't have a filled hill? Then keep it up and drive a wedge between the seasoned Rowdies and the new ones you're trying to attract. Your challenge is to make sure some of the chants / activities are reasonable for the fans who aren't there every game. Get them going on the basics .. they'll jump in on the newer more specific things. Frankly, this all sounds to me like the old lady in church who complains about the groups of teenagers who are there every weekend, but dressed a bit too casually for her taste. THEY'RE IN THE BUILDING. Embrace them all and make them feel welcome, so that they WANT to come back every time. Some of them are the future of the Rowdies. I gotta figure headaviatorrowdie knows this. B) B) Go Zips!
  14. The minute he/they laid their hands on a woman with violence, any and all chances at honor were gone.
  15. Conte Forum @ BC has a club section that also looks into the House that Flutie built. Pretty cool setup.
  16. There's no way some of those teams are 30 spots better than the Zips.
  17. Is that a 6 or 4? What year? Nice look, though I don't particularly care for the orange wheels. I had a 98 B5 Passat for a long time .. very customizable. Look forward to being in another VW/Audi some day. Go Zips.
  18. Zach moves back out onto thin ice.
  19. Moving this to the OT forum, as it isn't specifically related to football. Note also that there are several similar conversations ongoing here. You may find opinions shared there already.Go Zips!
  20. Overheard at the hotdog stand nearby:KD: Bardo, don't trust your instincts on a golf course!
  21. He's back home where he belongs.
  22. Server crashed, or intentional. What is KC doing with his time today?
  23. Updated since the 2011 Summer Prospectus spells out that Brian Walsh apparently will have 3 to play for the Zips. B) Go Zips!
