  1. Sold Out! Thanks to all of you who are coming for your support of Zips Basketball. http://gozips.com/sports/mbkb/2016-17/releases/20160801nmze1k
  2. Went to Barrios after the Zips victory in the semis last March and it was very good. I've been to the Diamond Grille many times. It is very old school, great beef with simple side dishes. It's an Akron landmark and I would recommend going just to experience the atmosphere. Btw, they don't take credit cards but will accept a check or bill you if you have a local business card.
  3. A Jr staff member created the design while the boss was out of town and posted it. It was never approved and as soon as the boss saw it online it was pulled. A face to face meeting took place yesterday by the boss to personally apologize to the Houston Deputy AD. A meeting took place today with the staff involved, it was not pretty. Bottom line, should never have been done. We have our own brand and intend to use it. Case closed.
  4. We are just a little over 2 weeks out from this event. It would be kinda cool if we could have a table full of members of Zips Nation to show their support for KD and the program. It will be an opportunity to meet and catch up with some of the former players who are going to attend. So far we have commitments from Dru Joyce, Romeo Travis, Jamal Ball, Jeremiah Wood, Derrick Tarver and Chauncey Gilliam. Invites have been made to Bob Huggins, Ben Braun and several former assistant coaches. This is going to be a first class event. If we want to be able to compete with the other big programs and really elevate our program to the level of a Gonzaga or Creighton, it takes money. Those programs have budgets in excess of $5 million per year. Akrons budget has been stuck at $2 million for several years now and KD does a great job with those limited resources. This dinner is a way to show how much we appreciate that and help the program at the same time. Even if you can't make the event a donation would help. How about a roll call to see who is coming? I'm in!
  5. They fired IMG and all the marketing is being done in-house now.
  6. To all loyal Zips basketball fans, come join the Varsity A club and celebrate the accomplishments of our coach Keith Dambrot on August 9th. This fundraiser will help the program remain competitive and fill in the gaps from the recent budget cuts at UA. 7. http://m.cantonrep.com/sports/20160711/ohio-state-akron-in-top-25-of-final-capital-one-cup-standings Great showing for Zips athletes. http://www.capitalonecup.com/
  8. I'm sure it was due to a certain other former Zips player being on the roster.?
  9. It's too bad KD's personal relationship with Lebron doesn't get our program any national exposure.
  10. Everybody wants to talk to KD about LeBron. http://espn.go.com/nba/playoffs/2016/story/_/id/16308193/nba-playoffs-2016-long-suffering-cleveland-dare-dream
  11. Akron is not the only MAC school with scheduling issues. Bobcats plotting non-conference course
  12. Having the local paper drone on about the alleged gloom and doom at UA has clearly had a major impact on enrollment. For the average Joe NEO who only gets his info from the MSM, the last 2 years would have led them to believe UA was going to fold and disappear.
  13. I'm already on a monthly payment plan. I might be willing to bump it up by a few bucks if they pick the right guy.
  14. Who in their right mind would want the job? With the toxic environment created by the Faculty Senate, the Beacon Journal and other groups on campus it's going to take a special person to right the ship.
  15. The trustees should have told the faculty senate to sit down and shut up and hire this guy. http://mweb.cbssports.com/ncaaf/feature/25431105/president-tressel
  16. Steve Cockerham. I believe he is still the leading tackler in UA history.
  17. Now that we don't have baseball it is an easier road to winning the wheel.
  18. BWalsh is a great guy. He will do well in this new position.
  19. I wonder if you can blue shirt for basketball?
