  1. I like it. I feel like a team will generally come together as a unit more with more road games early in the season. I like the idea of playing someone seen as someone you should defeat on the road. Helps a little with metrics being on the road too. Now if we could play schools like Bucknell on the road and schools from “bigger” conferences at home I think that would be a good metrics strategy.
  2. The discussion of Brayden Gross, the D2 freshman of the year, got me thinking. Gannon University, from not very far away in Erie, PA plays for the national championship tomorrow . I don’t know much about them. Could any of these guys have the ability to fit and play at the Zips established level? I would think if any of them were looking to transfer up to D1 that we would be just the type of program/ culture they would be looking for.
  3. Speaking about this here in an Akron message board is one thing......Get the word out! Every person who goes to the polls to vote should understand what they are voting for or against and right now I do not think they do. The comments about these universities should be plastered all over northeast Ohio and really the entire state.
  4. I feared this day and am trying to make sense of it. Maybe this was done for Dustin’s benefit? If he is already being groomed to be the head guy? I think I also read that Geno Ford’s contract was just about over at Stony Brook. I believe Geno’s son coaches at Nordonia High School. Maybe this ends up with the Ford brothers both on the Zips sideline?
  5. I look at all those Q4 wins for the Zips and it makes me scratch my head. The names of those programs are far from what I think of as programs that are typically Q4… hopefully a bunch of them build their numbers going foward.
  6. I thought we knew before the season started that they were bowl ineligible due to multi year APR.
  7. I get that this is a paycheck game and a somewhat necessary thing to happen for the coffers, but I would love to see the contract deal sweetened a bit where we also ink a basketball game with whomever we play in these “paycheck” football games. Nebraska and Akron on the hardwood could be interesting.
  8. Brian Walsh https://www.nbc4i.com/sports/buckeyes/brian-walsh-joins-ohio-state-mens-basketball-as-assistant-coach/amp/
  9. I agree, not only mainly mid-major but with on campus environments … but don’t tell Miami RedHawks fans it is for the second and third place MAC teams.
  10. Miami finished multiple games ahead of PCCC in the standings and beat them 3 times head to head while they also came closer to beating the champs than the Flushes did, yet no Miami in the NIT while Akron’s archrival did get an accept an invite? I would really be steamed at the NIT committee if I were a Miami fan … I am actually irritated with them even though I am not a RedHawks guy
  11. Accidentally stumbled upon this.. apparently no longer in basketball?
  12. I wasn’t sure if it was possible but it is what it is.
  13. Anyway we can get Eastern and Toledo to meet in the 4/5 game given that the four schools all play each other tonight? If so, I think that would be the scenario I want.
  14. What do seeds 3 through 6 look like if EMU and Toledo defeat the Bobcats and PCCC? It would mean all four are tied at 10-8 but how would the tiebreakers pan out?
  15. I don’t really know much about that on the high school level. A cursory look just tells me the NFHS network app but that is a subscription service. Maybe someone reading this knows better than I do?
