The advent of the replay, abused by officials, necessitates a reduction in time outs. The games are not what they were even 3 years ago. There are WAY too many stoppages...even for games banished to the abyss of ESPN3. Sitting with your thumb up your butt watching officials gather around the scorer's table for 5 minutes every time a low-post player holds his nose, or every time a 50/50 "Who's pinky did the ball deflect off?" out-of-bounds review occurs isn't entertaining or relaxing. It sucks. Official reviews, and ESPN's desire to squeeze every possible advertising cent out of every sporting event, necessitates a time-out reduction. These extra stoppages are essentially time-outs anyhow. While the game-minutes have not increased over the past few years, the overall game-time is becoming increasingly bloated and I'm glad it's being addressed.

It was actually my idea...back in 2005. Waddell ran with it. I miss that guy. Great to see Charlie staying involved with the program a little.

Smart move. He can play this season, showcase himself, and then transfer to a D-1 school and play immediately.

Seems like a great place to get stabbed. And for only $20? What a deal!

Buchtel Avenue? It's ancient history, replaced by: The Chapel? Sorry, Knute. If you wanna keep that swanky on campus location, you gotta play ball with the Prez: Summa? So long. We really need some OL depth, so it's good to see a couple older transfers arriving. But we need to start getting some Freshman OL's that we can redshirt and groom to be 3-year starters. OL guys always take a year or two to mesh. JUCO guys can only do so much...ditto the grad-transfer guys. Just when they start looking good, their eligibility expires. I expect a great season out of Tommy Brown this year.

I can see him spread wide in the "Trips" formation, blocking for Dr. Z's favorite play - the vaunted Bubble Screen. He seems like a D1-A TE tweener at 6' 2" 230 lb, 4.8 sec. 40 Undersized for a TE...too small to convert to OL...good size, but slow for a WR. Hope he's faster than he's listed. Maybe if he could drop to <220 lbs he could be a handful at WR? I guess time will tell...welcome to Akron, Johnnie.

I like that there would be 4 teams that could claim they won a MAC championship. The Josten's midwest regional salesman would quadruple his sales.
