  1. So far he seems be the hands-down favorite to take home the 2025 Maishe Dailey Award. Decent-looking 3-point shot that goes in about 18% of the time.
  2. Nothing says unwatchable like your team hoisting 50 bricks from behind the arc over the course of 40 minutes.
  3. What about the other 15 points they subtracted from the deficit in the final 15 minutes? It wasn't a millimeter here-or-there that cost us the game. They hit clutch shots, while we clanged-away from 3. Who is "clutch" on this Zips team, and who short-arms their shots when we need a bucket? Nate and Tavari are the guys I want to have the ball down the stretch. Grey, Hardman, Wilson, etc....not so much.
  4. Can we at least play 40 competitive minutes against a decent mid-major. Getting boat-raced for a 4th consecutive measuring stick game would be wholly unfun.
  5. First year I haven’t heard anyone whining that there’s too many bowl games? Probably because the lower tier bowl’s entertainment value has blown away the national playoff games thus far. Also nice to have a plan B when the NFL pits the Seahawks vs. the Bears. 🥱
  6. UMass is obviously paying their coaches more than the Zips. It would be sporting of them to at least forfeit their training table to make things fair.
  7. The way we’ve looked thus far in 2024-5, who’s expect us to blow out any D1 program. We aren’t making shots, can’t rebound and give up a ton of points. Bud Wenz is not getting much bang for his buck.
  8. We are terrible in every aspect of basketball right now.
  9. I think the 5 pm in the release is 7 pm EST?
  10. I think it would help academically eligible HS seniors, many of whom are now getting overlooked at the D1 level due to the love affair with portal players. Under this rule they can play at a decent level of college football and become a mature, marketable body when they're done. They'll be more appealing to D1 programs since they'll have college school & game experience + physical maturity + full eligibility.
  11. Blake Hester is playing for a DII National Championship on Saturday, as Valdosta State takes on Ferris State. Seems like he had a great season, with almost 1,000 yards rushing and 13 TDs.
  12. Now he can win 3 games per year on a much bigger stage. if he makes it to the pros he’ll definitely fit in best with a team like the Browns, Raiders or Jets.
  13. From what I heard he was in a good position to be the #2 back this season, but was injured in camp.
  14. Bullock walked down the center of the field on senior day. I assume that means he isn't coming back? He's pretty limited as far as being a D1 starter. He didn't show much as a WR. He's a senior (too late to mold him into something else). Maybe a desperate FCS program would give him a good opportunity to start at QB or WR, but I can't imagine and FBS program would covet him. If he wants to play FBS football and get a free education in 2025, the Zips seem to be hands-down his best shot. With Norton and a couple other WR's leaving, there is a huge void at receiver. He's a great athlete. It would be nice if he started focusing solely on WR and honed his skills. Brookhart could coach him up and he could do some great things next year. If we need him as a wildcat on 3rd or 4th and short, he could still do it.
  15. Avon QB Sticks with Kent
  16. Somewhere. Teon Dollard is mad at you.
  17. That is definitely what OSU fans will rationalize is true. But it probably isn't.
  18. It's easier to grab a Big 10 or SEC welfare check to stay afloat than it is to put thought and work into new ideas and grow them. MUCH easier. It's also great to blame your facilities, which are too nice and shouldn't have been built if <insert UA official's name here> were in charge.
  19. If it weren’t for the continuous clock in the second half it would have been worse.
  20. They laid down. 100%. Zero fight. Their coach never raised his voice, not one player tried to fire anyone up. Not one cowbell rang from the stands. They were “Dead Man Walking” from start to finish in a state championship game. Marion Local is great. But Hillsdale never even tried to punch them in the nose. They were destroyed before the opening kickoff. And it got worse from there.
  21. Went the Games 1 and 2 today. Marion Local is a beast, and Hillsdale basically laid down for them. It was 60-0 at the half. 60 to zero. Game #2 was great. Loved Bishop Watterson’s defense. The pulled out a 19-14 win after being down 7-0 at the half.
  22. It’s my hope that Anderson is a mature OL who’s outgrown FCS competition, and wants to challenge himself. He’s not going to be on any P5 programs radar. No one from a program that finished 4th in the SWAC East is. Give me a grad student with 2 years eligibility like Anderson from the portal every time. Great fit for a MAC program like Akron.
  23. Might need three Hoppin' Frog Blonds to sit through this one.
  24. U of A signage at every NE Ohio football stadium on Friday nights would have been way cheaper, and way more effective at reaching HS kids. Giving 1.3 million to the Browns, as you’re slashing the University budget. Only in Akron. At least we’re consistent.
  25. My concern is - do the budget-cutting bean counters realize this? Or do they just see the disparity in wins/losses as Joe has worked to pull the Zips out of the deepest abyss any D1 program has ever seen? Joe returned to Akron for a lot of reasons that had nothing to do with football glamour and money, and more to do with running a D1 program, while being there for his family. That remains valid. If we’d just treat the guy right I think we could hold on to him for a while longer. Giving him his training table back so his offensive linemen can be an athletic 325 pounds instead of a skinny 285 pounds would be a great start. There are few Joe Moorhead’s looking to coach Akron, and a ton of Arths and Ianellos. For once, could we not blow it?
