  1. Very nice work, Dave. A lot of people will enjoy tracking these guys.
  2. Yeah, but if I recall correctly the referees screwed Duquesne in that one. The Duquesne coach complained the laces on the ball were excessively large. And also filed a protest that Wahl had sharpened his uniform's metal belt buckle. Very controversial outcome. I believe Kinnesaw Mountain Landis made the final ruling?
  3. No beer before noon, dude.
  4. No. But we are REALLY good at almost doing so. From Pitt back in the 80's, to Xavier in the 90's, to Nevada in 00's to VCU in the 10's. Josh Cribbs: "We almost always almost win."
  5. Give me the 2005 cheerleaders any day of the week. But I think the 2012 band would blow the 2005 group off the field. Fear the Dadgum Tuba.
  6. Zips women's basketball @ 7-1, and K.e.n.t. football @ 11-2. The Mayans were right.
  7. We will need to find someone in this recruiting class to replace his 4 receptions for 2 yards. If he still wants to play football, maybe he ends up at Fordham. Moorhead was pretty high on him 4 years ago.
  8. Hey, I bailed on Coleman Crawford too. Who could watch that crap? I couldn't imagine having to play on teams that were estatic to get 20+ points in a half. Especially when you had the option to be a starting guard on a Final Four team. Buford was an Engineering student, and obviously one smart cookie.
  9. He won 11 games at K.e.n.t. State. Not in a decade...in a single season. Winning 11 games in 1 season @ K.e.n.t. is more impressive than winning 20-in-a-row @ Auburn. Water-into-wine is about the only thing that might potentially top it.
  10. It's amazing that Bowers went from a 1-win program, to an Orange Bowl program. Reminds me a little of when Anthony Buford bailed on a downward-spiraling Coleman Crawford basketball team and made it to the Final Four w/Cinci.
  11. Think Giorgio Bowers has any regrets leaving the Zips for NIU?
  12. If you want a reminder of the ABJ coverage quality prior to George, click here, and go to pic 5-of-13. Who knew our linebackers handed off to our linebackers? Then again, it was Ianello.
  13. Creighton game can apparently be viewed here. I predict akronzips71 will have problems with the feed, and start multiple threads to discuss it.
  14. I really don't see enough of the term "Roo." They should really market that term more. Very underutilized.
  15. I watched them play SDSU last night. They are a scrappy, athletic team. They'll be a good test for the Zips. Unrelated Question - If a Tree blocks a shot on December 27th at the JAR, will anyone be there to hear the sound? I digress... They are coached by Mike Davis...former Indiana (Bob Knight's successor) and UAB coach (CUSA COTY only 2 years ago). Fired after a respectable 6 years
  16. Who was the last Jackson player to be any good at the D1 level? Jamie Bosley 15 years ago? I look forward to seeing the 5' 10" phenom lighting it up at the JAR in a couple years....when we play Malone.
  17. Anyone who doubts NIU can compete with FSU need only look at former FSU starter Avis Commack, who made the mistake of trying to tackle Jordan Lynch at about the 5 yard line this season...and ended up flattened and semi-conscious at the 2 yard line as Lynch strolled into the endzone. I title this picture: "Before the Lights Went Out" - Beat writers always steal ideas from our board, so here's one - Interview Avis Commack and see what he feels about NIU's chances against his former school. To a lesser extent, a Bowden might also have interesting thoughts on the subject? You're welcome.
  18. Dewey beat Truman too.
  19. Forget LeBron then. Dru Joyce went 7-for-7 in a State HS Championship game. All 3-pointers. His Freshman year. He started for 4 years at a high mid-major D1 program and ranks among the all time leaders in points and assists. All without LeBron.
  20. How did LeBron do on the SVSM Freshman team? Or Dru Joyce? I thought if you were good enough, you played Varsity in 9th grade?
  21. I think the same AK Rowdies have been at the JAR for 8 or more years? What happens when those guys finally graduate?
  22. Where is the band located at other MAC arenas? I know @ K.e.n.t. it is directly next to the away bench.
  23. Is it turning lemons into lemonade to say that, with 7 MAC programs focusing on bowl preparations, Bowden should have a recruiting advantage by recruiting "distraction-free" in December?
  24. Abreu drove and got off a good shot. In comparison to past similar situations (McNees bombs...Dru Joyce 28-footers) it was a good, close-range shot. Abreu had eaten the MTSU guard alive all day, so I liked our chances with his dribble-penetration.
  25. It's November. I bet as the season progresses those teams will increase their win total. Hard to believe we lost to Coastal Carolina...we were undefeated going into that game!?
