  1. A little bird told me the Kyle Pohl Fan Club will be pleased tomorrow evening. Expect him to get some meaningful PT. On a related topic, Pohl is still considered The Man @ QB for 2013. The Zips are looking at a JUCO QB because, after Pohl, there's presently only unproven newbies.
  2. I see K.e.n.t. is up on Drexel by four. Certainly would be a quality win to start their season.
  3. Going on the road against a quality opponent without Diggs, Treadwell and Harney ain't a good thing.
  4. Only in the 2nd half? GP1 is correct. Drop 10, and Williams still doesn't run. That's too easy to defend.
  5. Thad Matta isn't coaching.
  6. I would respectfully disagree here. Bowden put the team in a great position to win the game. Then he puckered-up. Hazell's team was unflappable, and they ran some great 3rd and 4th and short plays that were back-breakers. Hazell clearly got the better of the Zips Saturday. They rolled us in the 2nd half. When it counted.

  8. A few years ago? It's been 23 years.

  10. I like the formula. 25% JUCO and 75% other (primarily Fr.'s). You can't build a progrum on JUCO's and transfers, but you can fill some gaping holes pretty well while you're building the progrum.
  11. Cooper wears girl's underwear.
  12. The only whiff I got was the smell of a team I wish was on Bowden's schedule. Who in the MAC office did Lee Owens pay off to get EMU on his schedule every season?
  13. He should have treated Senderoff like Garnett treated Ray Allen last night!
  14. I predict he'll be the new Quincy Diggs.
  15. So LZip is saying Bowden is "pro cancer?!" Who knew? Come to think of it...I haven't seen him wearing pink yet...
  16. The bottom 3 are woeful. Given the Zips present situation, I'd give my left nut to be anywhere above that level.
  17. Odd to see one of our former interim AD's is completely axe-ing soccer, while another is sitting at #8 nationally.
  18. I am guessing if there are any tricks up TB's sleeve, we'll see them this week. He hasn't tried a fake FG or punt this season...now's the time. Onside kick to begin the game? You're 1-8...go for it. Offense needs to quit sputtering and get back to early-season form. That will be the key to us having a shot, or losing by 20. When's the last time our defense created a turnover...I won't look it up, but it seems like it was Commack's INT @ Tennessee? Time for the D to create some TO's.
  19. You probably are going to get your wish Lots of Iowa Western kids on the Zips radar.
  20. Hazell took over a team that was 5-4 at one point during the previous season. Bowden took over a team that was 2-22 over the previous 2 seasons. Big difference. Taking a team that was 5-4 after 9 games, and elevating that team to 8-1 at the same point 2 seasons later is easily within the ability of any good coach. Give Hazell a 2-22 Zips team and tell me where he'd be this season. Give this 2012 Zips team to our Director of Strategic Development and tell me his record. Given the schedule, talent and injuries, TB has done a great job.
  21. Me too. That's why you know it will get better. Faust got us 7 wins in a season. Owens took a 1-10 Faust team and eventually got to .500 Brookhart took Owens' team and won a MAC championship Ianello - took us back to the stone age Bowden - People need faith. He's WAY better qualified than Faust, Brookhart or Owens, and he'll eclipse the levels those guys reached. He just got dealt a shitty first hand. In track they stagger the start in order to make races like the 200m and 400m fair. In football, there's no such equalizer. You start from the back, and everyone else gets a big fat head start.
  22. K.e.n.t. was worse than us 3 years ago. Now they're 8-1. Why is it so impossible for the Zips to recruit and improve?
  23. After our Gardner Webb loss, I saw we had a good chance to be in our present position. But I didn't see K.e.n.t. getting to their present level. K.e.n.t. beating an 8 - 0 Rutgers team is surreal. Maybe Rutgers was as soft an undefeated team as OU, but still...it's K.e.n.t. football.
  24. As mentioned previously by Keener, Owens and Brookhart, despite their mediocre tenures, always made the K.e.n.t. game a big deal. And with two rare exceptions, where NFL'ers Josh Cribbs and Julian Edelman imposed their will on some perhaps somewhat overconfident Zips, the Zips made the Flashes their annual bitch. Enter Ianello, who tried his best to pretend the Zips had any gridiron successes prior to his arrival (I still laugh at him mandating replays of the MCB, Marshall Comeback and K.e.n.t. Snow Bowl wins not be replayed on the Info Jumbotron), and poo poo'd the K.e.n.t. game as "just another game." You have to love the guy's attempts to hide recent tradition to cover his own ineptitude. So what does Bowden say this week regarding the Wagon Wheel, and the fact that a win vs. K.e.n.t. would salvage the Zips season? I wonder....
  25. While I agree with the bulk of your post, I recall TB tossing the term "bowl eligibility" around in September. Around the same time NewZipsFan was looking forward to an 8-0 romp through the MAC? I think his first time through the league has given the staff, and new fans, a reality check on what it takes to win the MAC in 2013. If you are fielding 3rd stringers and Freshman, you are going to get your clock cleaned. We've made a quantum leap forward in competitiveness this season, but have miles to go before we can legitimately run with the big dogs.
