Per GoZips.com, still no event scheduled for June 11th. I feel bad for Matt Kaulig. He fronts a good chunk of change, and UA can't post any of the forms or info to help make the event successful.

PM ZW directly, or don't complain.

Erin Andrews can call me "Bobby" anytime.

You say "Coach Bowden" like Frank Caliendo-Madden says "Brett Favre."

I agree. Two puzzling choices of words. "Gripe" means you're a whiner. I just cut a check for roughly $800 for 4 season tickets & Z-Fund donation for the 2012 football season. This, coming off two consecutive 1-win seasons where I cut similar checks. Sorry for being a griper. "Coming back?" - UA left (cancelling the Outing). I never left, despite UA doing everything in their power to drive me away. I'm glad they're back. The Golf Outings are one thing UA has consistently done right over the years. I do complain about things UA screws up royally. That's my right for paying the thousands of dollars/year to support the programs. Call it griping...constructive criticism..tough love. Whatever. But it's truth.

I see why you didn't include a link to any information on the outing...you wanted me to search on the UA web site for 20 minutes, and then give up. I think the "Events" calendar on Gozips.com should be updated for some event being held on the 11th of June. Just a thought.

"Gripe" has a negative connotation. I would prefer- "Continually informed the University that their head football coach was an anti-social idiot whose interpersonal ineptitude was only exceeded by his on-the-field, game-day ineptitude." It reads longer, but is more accurate. Thank God I never spent a dime on an Ianello Golf Outing. Man, would that have sucked. I have not reserved a Bowden foursome yet, but do have one. Thanks for the reminder. Money will be sent asap.

I told them to ease up on the half time show spending. I also mentioned that the team shop was WAY too large, and the sightlines from the lower-corner sections were too good. I also was hoping they could increase the size of that CBI banner....WAY too small as it stands today. And can we get a larger picture of Wyatt Webb while we're at it?

"None of the above", in a landslide.

David Harvey was also 4- or 5-star. DeVoe Torrence was 4-star.

What was Peyton Manning...Troy Aikman...hell...throw in Charlie Frye in their 1st season? If one of the upper-classmen gives us a better chance to win games (than Pohl), then they should start. If the competition is a wash, or Pohl is better, it's time to give the kid the nod and see what he's got. If he can't cut it, then throw in one of the old guys.
-
Everyone knows Moore can run. Everyone knows he's a tough kid. But if he relies predominately on his feet to win games, we're screwed. He isn't a "game-changer" running QB (like a Cribbs or Edelmann were). If neither Williams or Moore take command, you gotta start Pohl and see what he can do. There's no upside to starting a senior like Williams, versus the underclassmen, if he doesn't give the Zips a marked increased chance to win games. And if Moore can't convincingly beat out a Frosh, he should probably practice returning punts.

I'm a new face and a few million dollars away from being George Clooney.

I look forward to the follow up: Lunch with the Lot 9’ers™

Porter will certainly have an opportunity to leave for a pro job. As of right now he isn't interested. If he does leave, UA has a multi-decade history of soccer excellence, so I'm not worried that we'll find a great successor. Oh wait...Wistercill....damn. Dambrot isn't going anywhere. Bowden hasn't coached a single game at UA, and he's talking over a team coming off back-to-back 1-win seasons, so it's a teensie weensie bit early to speculate on his departing for a better job. Plus he's 56 years old. Tressel hasn't accomplished a damn thing @ UA since the mid-80's. If he went anywhere, would anyone in Akron even know?

I like the expanded playoffs. It is not such a rarity that the #8 team in a given region beats the #1 team in round #1. The rankings are often BS. Like you, I'm an old-timer. Back in the 70's and 80's, McDonald High School had plenty of 10-0 teams that sat home come playoff time. I guarantee several would have won state titles. But if you're stuck in a conference that doesn't produce a lot of "computer points," you used to get screwed. Not anymore. Likewise, teams like Cardinal Mooney play a D-1 schedule, but are forced to compete in the D-III or D-IV playoffs. So a Cardinal Mooney 6-4 regular season is typically better than the 10-0 record of any other D-III or D-IV playoff team.

Don't go getting our coach in trouble, George! Thanks for the scoop! -
Janoris Jenkins - The most-discussed non-Zip football player on ZN.o since Dwight Lowery. Technically, Ryan Bain might also be a candidate.

I've never seen a basketball recruit article that didn't list the player's position, or height?

Ianello personally blew at least two games per season with his ultra-mega-consevative play-calling. If Bowden is a good coach, he'll win at least 3 games next season. I'd be ecstatic with 4 wins, + being competitive most of the other games.

Spring practice for Tuesday

No. If he goes to Fordham, he will be playing for the QB coach that originally recruited him. You also ignored about 93% of my post where I further explained the situation. Saving you the reading - The Zips have bigger needs than a mediocre senior QB. By showing the mediocre QB the door, they can get a 5th year senior linebacker or JUCO offensive lineman that will fill a much bigger need. And to be clear - While BigZip said I "loved" Nicely, those were his words. I never said anything else other than Moore was horrible, and Nicely was the better QB. Nicely was no threat to be even 3rd team All-MAC, but he was better than Moore. -

Nicely was/is better than Moore. It wasn't love, it was truth. If Ianello was intelligent, your assumption that, since PN7 didn't see the field he must suck, would be valid. But Ianello was an absolute idiot who made so many asinine decisions on Saturday's even Terry Pluto couldn't find anything nice to write about him. Ianello wanted to follow his process, not win games. Ianello's favorite Moore was given an obscene amount of opportunities to do anything last season, and he showed nothing. Why did Nicely leave? I doubt Bowden was too excited to keep a senior QB who was only slightly better than the Freshman Pohl. And with two highly-touted incoming Freshman QB's without scholarships, and Bowden "recruiting harder than I did in February" to find 5th year senior transfers and JUCO players, some attrition at the QB spot, enabling players to be signed at positions of greater need, was definitely not unwelcome by the staff. I also doubt Nicely was all that keen on staying in Akron to play for a 3rd coach in 4 seasons. He had options to play elsewhere. It isn't quitting. Sometimes a divorce is the best for everyone. That's your answer.
