  1. Are the Zips struggling, or simply playing better competition? And maybe wearing down a little as we grind into February? I remain amazed at what little our bench brings to the stat sheet. If I was one of those people that can't enjoy the present because they're worried about next year, I'd have an ulcer. Our "Big 4" will continue to shoulder a heavy heavy load through the remainder of the season. How long can they hold up? Hopefully through late March.?
  2. 83-76 Zips. Zips' non big man bench combines for 5 points. Hope I'm right on #1, and wrong on #2.
  3. Offered by William and Mary. PWO offer from Pitt.
  4. I thought the same thing. Lots of yards-after-catch. Balance...speed
  5. Who knew I had $200 worth of bobble heads on my game room shelf?
  6. We may have played our best game of the season on the 18th, and lost to Toledo by 10. So the Rockets are my favorite until proven otherwise. Can't sleep on Buffalo either. Really looking forward to next Tuesday. Not worried about Kent. ?
  7. Most of our existing transfer players were the result of the incumbent players transferring out. Noah, Antino, E-man, Utomi, Parrish... it would have been career suicide for Groce to replace them with a bunch of freshman. There was a time when transfers were looks upon negatively...they were troubled kids that got booted off a team for getting in trouble with the law, or poor grades. Our present transfers are Junior College kids, or traditional transfers who just didn't fit in at their first stop. They seem to be good ballers, good students, and overall good kids who are enjoying being a Zip. That's good enough for me.
  8. How do you make the choice of Rome over Dru? You'd think the'd be honored together?
  9. I could envision a Zips vs. Dukes NIT pairing. Too bad the Bracket Buster dissolved. It would have been an obvious match up this year.
  10. Zips 78 - OU 63 Zips are rolling right now. The thing that separates them from almost everyone else is - * Their commitment to defense. They really care about being the best defense in the MAC. If you have a team dedicated to that goal, you're going to be really good. * Too many players capable of getting buckets. Chesse, LCJ and Williams can put up 25+ on any given night. And Banks is no offensive slouch either. In the MAC, stopping 3-4 prolific scorers is tough. Our three-headed monster at center seems to be working well. Scoring from the bench, while not a yet problem, is a concern. I'd love to see Tribble or Ali up their ppg over the next month. It'd make me more confident going into Rocket Mortgage Field House in March for our 3-games-in-3-days (there's no chance we don't get a bye).
  11. The ball has been in his court, so-to-speak, since he left. Obviously he doesn't want to do it. The "20 win regular season" milestone is a big thing to him, and it appears he doesn't want to risk an OOC loss. It would also be a bad look to lose to the program you elevated from. If the two programs ever did meet in NE Ohio, the JAR would be too small. They could make a great event out of it and fill the Convo, or get at least 12k into Rocket Mortgage. A shame it will never happen. When they announced Dambrot's name as Duquesne's coach, the ovation would measure on the Richter scale. It would be a nice moment for him.
  12. Outscored by 30 points in the 2nd half? Yeowch. They’ll need a couple more cupcakes to get back into the at-large discussion.
  13. Duquesne vs Rhode Island tonight. Should be a good gauge of the Duke’s legitimacy. Check it out on ESPN+.
  14. Reese threw down a nice dunk in warmups. Doesn’t seem to be limping?
  15. Dukes scarf down yet another cupcake, nipping now 6-10 (0-4) Fordham at PPG Arena in OT, 58-56. I watch the 2nd half on the treadmill last night...Dukes looked crappy. We'd beat them. Lots of people complain about our basketball Marketing. To get people off their backs they should set up a 2020 Saturday night game - Duquesne vs. Akron at Rocket Mortgage Field House (formerly The Q). Or even The Convo. They'd easily draw 12k for that one. It'd be a blast, and a shot in the arm for local college basketball. If the Dukes wanted a home-home, I'm sure Groce would oblige. Is KD afraid to schedule his old team? Is he "too good" to play a MAC program home-home now that he's in the A-10?
  16. I'll guess it is a combination of wishful thinking and Urban Legend.
  17. Blackford basketball is classified 2A this year. "Big School" classification in Indiana is 4A.
  18. Zips exorcising some ghosts tonight!
  19. Don't know why someone wouldn't appreciate your contribution. Thank you taking the time to provide so much info regarding a Zips recruit. He seems like a heck of a baller. But 2021 is a long ways away. Hope he doesn't get too big for us in the mean time. ?
  20. Seems like D-III is a lot more competitive now than when his Pop was running Mount's program. They aren't the juggernaut they used to be.
  21. Cut me some slack on the poll...as of the time I posted it, it was the most-recent edition. No excuse for mixing up the two USC’s though. Maybe I need to ban myself.
  22. #19 in Collegeinsider.com Mid-major Poll
  23. Gavin's basketball Journey Takes Yet Another Bizeau Twist
  24. No more 11 pm posting after an 8 hour Sunday car trip. I'm just going to bed from here on out. ?
