  1. Possibility, or probability? LCJ is great...but he's a eminently more guardable if he's our only perimeter threat. But I'll enjoy this ride, and worry about next season once April rolls around. ?
  2. LCJ, Banks and Cheese all made substantial improvements in their shooting percentages this year. I have to believe Tribble, Dawson and Ali will be much improved in 2020-21. And hopefully elevating to "dangerous" in 2021-22. Ali reminds me of Deji Ibitayo. Athletic, raw and skinny. Deji was a frustrating shooter his first 2 seasons, and had great Junior and Senior campaigns behind the arc. Somebody is going to need to drain 3's after the Big 4 are gone. That has to be a huge point of emphasis for Groce in the coming off-season.
  3. Tribble probably played his best game last night. He was assertive on the offensive and and played solid D. Missed a couple layups, and had a wide open 3-footer in the paint that he passed out of, but overall he made some positive steps last night. Ali does use his length well on the defensive side of the ball. He's a hustler. Dawson pulled down a nice rebound at a critical point last night, and works hard on D. He gets a tiny bit better every game. Our Big 4 need to score the ball on offense, so the freshman's/bench's role is pretty much to defend as hard as possible during their limited minutes. But it would be a big help if they could start draining a couple shots as we approach March.
  4. Konata Waited for a Pitt Offer that Never Came?
  5. Marquell Cook Hudl (RB/CB Buchtel HS, 5' 9", 165 lb) The Fastest Kid in Akron - 201 Yards vs. McKinley
  6. Need more out of X than he’s given thus far. Where is the Xfactor?
  7. Welcome to the game, X!
  8. Tribble can’t be afraid to shoot 2-footers.
  9. Be nice if Shaq Sayles made an appearance tonight.
  10. That picture reminded me - I thought the refs on Tuesday night did a really nice job. Yeah, the botched a couple calls...but they didn't make the incessant ticky-tack calls. The game had a nice flow.
  11. Tip was a bad man in the low post. Team Captain to boot! Source
  12. It was probably me that wrote it. ? I think Utomi's departure allowed Cheese and Banks to flourish. It helped us play the up-tempo, "Groce style of play." But you're right, having him in the rotation instead of the "Freshman 3" would be a huge upgrade.
  13. Are the Zips struggling, or simply playing better competition? And maybe wearing down a little as we grind into February? I remain amazed at what little our bench brings to the stat sheet. If I was one of those people that can't enjoy the present because they're worried about next year, I'd have an ulcer. Our "Big 4" will continue to shoulder a heavy heavy load through the remainder of the season. How long can they hold up? Hopefully through late March.?
  14. 83-76 Zips. Zips' non big man bench combines for 5 points. Hope I'm right on #1, and wrong on #2.
  15. Offered by William and Mary. PWO offer from Pitt.
  16. I thought the same thing. Lots of yards-after-catch. Balance...speed
  17. Who knew I had $200 worth of bobble heads on my game room shelf?
  18. We may have played our best game of the season on the 18th, and lost to Toledo by 10. So the Rockets are my favorite until proven otherwise. Can't sleep on Buffalo either. Really looking forward to next Tuesday. Not worried about Kent. ?
  19. Most of our existing transfer players were the result of the incumbent players transferring out. Noah, Antino, E-man, Utomi, Parrish... it would have been career suicide for Groce to replace them with a bunch of freshman. There was a time when transfers were looks upon negatively...they were troubled kids that got booted off a team for getting in trouble with the law, or poor grades. Our present transfers are Junior College kids, or traditional transfers who just didn't fit in at their first stop. They seem to be good ballers, good students, and overall good kids who are enjoying being a Zip. That's good enough for me.
  20. How do you make the choice of Rome over Dru? You'd think the'd be honored together?
  21. I could envision a Zips vs. Dukes NIT pairing. Too bad the Bracket Buster dissolved. It would have been an obvious match up this year.
  22. Zips 78 - OU 63 Zips are rolling right now. The thing that separates them from almost everyone else is - * Their commitment to defense. They really care about being the best defense in the MAC. If you have a team dedicated to that goal, you're going to be really good. * Too many players capable of getting buckets. Chesse, LCJ and Williams can put up 25+ on any given night. And Banks is no offensive slouch either. In the MAC, stopping 3-4 prolific scorers is tough. Our three-headed monster at center seems to be working well. Scoring from the bench, while not a yet problem, is a concern. I'd love to see Tribble or Ali up their ppg over the next month. It'd make me more confident going into Rocket Mortgage Field House in March for our 3-games-in-3-days (there's no chance we don't get a bye).
  23. The ball has been in his court, so-to-speak, since he left. Obviously he doesn't want to do it. The "20 win regular season" milestone is a big thing to him, and it appears he doesn't want to risk an OOC loss. It would also be a bad look to lose to the program you elevated from. If the two programs ever did meet in NE Ohio, the JAR would be too small. They could make a great event out of it and fill the Convo, or get at least 12k into Rocket Mortgage. A shame it will never happen. When they announced Dambrot's name as Duquesne's coach, the ovation would measure on the Richter scale. It would be a nice moment for him.
