Owens players had an impact on tonights win, but this is a different team with a different attitude. This is not the discussion we should be having tonight.

It's JD jackass not JB..............and to you....it's "MR. JD"

Reading this stuff is almost as good as winning!

I don' think that is even close to being known yet.....much will depend on this weekend.

HEY WPIAL MAC CHAMPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Thanks NIU 79, that was a great game, your guys left it all out on the field.
-
First off, that was a great game by both teams. Wolf is one hell of a back....part of me was hoping he would beat Bush's record. Hats off to Hixon, he deserves all the credit for this one, sicker than a dog and he comes in and makes the game winning catch. Getsy played a great game. The O-line gave him all the time in the world. The D held Wolf when they had to. I tell yah, this is one for the ages! Zips fans represented well. You were loud, you were proud and the AkRowdy's were ROWDY!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ZIPSSSSSSSSSSSS!
-
What a drive, Hixon is a HERO! MAC CHAMPS! GO ZIPS!

Rifleman, I see you've spent alot of time thinking about this.

He threw one pick (not three) on a play in which he had two D Linemen breathing down his throat. Also, the reciever later admitted he ran the wrong route. Thats the only play Frye was involved in the entire game. I'm not saying that Frye is the Browns savior, but I'd like to see him to get a shot.

I think "MAD EAST" is kind of fitting given the reaction of some schools fans!
-
Why are you rolling your eyes G-Force? We don't have anything to lose? We turned this season into more than anyone expected. We weren't expected to win the MAC east, we weren't expected to play in the MAC championship and we're not expected to win the game! In my opinion this game is a win-win. Hey Mods, it should be a rule that your not able to use Emoticons untill 50 posts or more. Some of these newbies don't know when to use them!

Faust was one of the most likable people I ever met. I came across him 5-6 times on campus during and after his tenure as coach. Every time he was addressed he would stop and talk to you. Never too busy and one hell of a guy. I also saw him at an Akron area golf course a few years after he was coach and he invited my fieind and I to join him. We abliged and and it was great to spend time with the man.

This may be the lawyer coming out in me, but he said "better college town." Now campus athetics would certainly factor into that, but its much more. I would argue the city of Akron has much more to offer college students than Athens. Last time I was in Athens was probably 1997, so my opinion is dated, but Athens to me was a neat, old college surrounded by a bunch of dive bars and hemp stores.

click me! I credit the man for taking responsibility for his actions. Wish more people would, especially politicians.

That's funny because I (an Akron grad) always expect to beat OU. Not because of anything other than the fact that Akron in recent years has owned OU in football and has been competetive with OU in basketball. But then again, those are just facts.....who needs facts? Have you been to Akron recently? Exactly what makes OU so great?

Saw this on MACbbs, thoght I'd paste it over here: http://www.nbc4i.com/news/5419216/detail.html

I happen to be one who hates the Rubber Bowl. I didn't used to in college but now I can't stand it. My wife won't come to games because the bathroom facilities are crap (excuse the choice of words), parking is in a grass field, and its really a dark and dreary place. I hate to admit it, but I have attended as many YSU games as Zip games in the past few years only becauase the tickets were free and YSU has a nice thing going downtown. The stadium is fan friendly, its clean, they have things to do for the kids and parking is great around the stadium. And being on campus its a real collegiant atmosphere. If we had YSU's staium on our campus we'd easily draw 20K a game. I'd be one of the 20K every week.

A win is a win, but that is a team that we should beat by double digits. Souds like Akron came out flat in the first half (too much turkey Boys?). Romeo really took over in the second half of the game. He is really developing into one hell of a "total" player and to have a game like this early in the season is great sign of things to come. I believe he had his highest scoring game as a Zip. He really stepped up for us last year and will need to do the same this year. Duquesne will be another good test but should be a W. I know its early in the season but these OOC games are critical come March with the selection committee. A loss to YSU could have been devastating. Lets go Zips!
-
I thought this was a useless quote and cheap shot in today's beacon: "For the eighth time in the last nine meetings, the Zips retained the rights to the Wagon Wheel, as well as local bragging rights in this mid-major rivalry of two schools located just 20 minutes apart." I guess we should expect this kind of crap from a mid-major newspaper. I say boycot the Beacon altogether, call the plain dealer, A MAJOR NEWSPAPER, and tell them we've given up on the urinal and will exclusivley support them if they support us.

This is a BS, politically correct post if I've ever seen one. Read the post dumbass, I said "INTERNET FANS" not "ALL FANS." But since you want to talk about "all fans, I say OU fans get all they deserve. Its not just one or two of them its every one I've met or come in contact with. Don't tell me not to generalize when I've yet to meet someone from OU who hasn't ripped or degraded Akron. I see it on the net, I see it from their fans at the games and from their radio announcers. Their "elitism" may not be absolute but it is pervasive to say the least.
-
I don't know about their fans overall, but Ohio U internet fans are big A-holes. "Internet fans" can be defined as those fans of a school who routinely post on MAC sports fan sites. I say Ohio fans have no A-hole rival. This whole "flagship of the MAC" thing is a joke! If there was a "flagship" it certainly wouldn't be them. If you read MACbbs, they are incesently putting down Akron and downplaying our successes. If we "happen" to beat them in football, which we've done for the past like 8 years, it's not that we beat them, its that they"laid an egg" or "had a bad day." Reagrding our win over NIU this year, one Ohio fan said....."it was fluke." And these one line posts like "Akron is terrible" is another example of their complex with us. Fact of the matter is punk them routinely in football and basketball and they're bitter about it. We own them in just about every sport yet they say its all a fluke. OU has the biggest A-holes! Anyone else have an opinion?
-
Ugghhh! Those are bad! I don't know that the average viewer will know that they are throwbacks or that Akron has not stepped out of the Faust era. I say ditch 'em and go with the current uni's.
