This was some schmucks idea to cover the fact that he had a bad punter or bad blocking on the line. Think of a roll out passer. It's supposed to give a little more time for the punter. Also, if they had a lousy punter that only got distance when the punt rolled (Stec), this is supposed to set him up for more yardage. So basically it is designed to cover up a bad punt team, which we have.

But really, just how do you feel about JD?

Kicking shouldn't be a problem! We all looked forward to Igor until he finally got to kick, and Stec is a 4 year starter as punter. And not to mention our special teams coach......Oh, wait. I've been bitching about them for about 3 years now! Welcome, all, to the bandwagon!

This is saying what I have been railing against the past couple of years. "Gee, guys, we lost the games we were supposed to lose, because one was a Big 10 team, and the other is a MAC frontrunner, but now are crappy league schedule is set up for us to beat the light weights and JD can keep his job with consistene mediocrity." Well some of us are tired of consistent mediocrity! And we were FAVORED to beat Indiana! So many people have accepted this crap for so long, but now we want more! We see good athletes coming in, good coaches coming in, the new stadium, which obviously doesn't help; butwe don't see any improvement on the field. If I don't see improvement or some changes, I'm going to have to think twice before I but another ticket!

At least someone is willing to try!

Props for Mr. Bowser! I was harder on him than anyone last year, but he has turned it around this season. Keep it up!

I would now say that this program is now officially "out of control!" The starting QB suspended, possibly a coach suspended for recruiting violations, a team showing no heart. So much for a great start in our new stadium! We are about to become an even bigger joke! Mr. AD, are you getting all this?

Let me correct you. JD did not get stuck with these players. He actively recruited and gave them full scholarships. JD thought these young men would lead us to the promised land. JD was wrong!

As much as I've wanted JD gone the last couple of years, I don't think letting him go in the middle of the season is the answer. Wait until the season is over and make the decision on a young, exciting coach ASAP. He would still be able to recruit, meet with the media...whatever is needed to sell the change.

Good start! But one punt for 24 yards? From a 4 year starter? And a season average of 37.1? This is not even a good high school showing! The punting job has been handed to him for 4 years now, but this year there is no one to push him. Terrible punting! Where is Billy Sullivan? We haven't seen a good punter since he graduated!

IMO, part of coaching is about putting your best talent in an advantageous situation to succeed...your example is NOT an example of that.Excellent point!

The thrust of the negative posts about this game have been ignored by other posters who seem to simply accept that it's OK to completely suck a$$ when you're playing a really, really good team. That's bs. During most seasons this kind of boring, uninspired play would simply signify the first "money date" of the season, a woeful but predictable start to every MAC team's year. But this is the year of Infocision, and middling mid-major college football is not going to cut it anymore. Locals here will never buy into that kind of football. I believe that the administration has plans to use football and the rest of the sporting programs to grow the university. These programs, IF THEY ARE WINNERS, build prestige and bring $$$ toward the university. Infocision is a premier facility and it is likely that it was built NOT thinking about Akron's status in the shitty MAC, but with an eye toward bigger and better things. That's why Saturday was such a bummer for me, and ought to be for all of us. The old paradigm of "aw shucks we were murdered by Penn State but we got out with some $$ and we can now focus on the rest of the shitty MAC" doesn't work anymore. That approach will lead to failure. It will fail to fill seats at the Info, it will fail to generate any momentum or excitement in the community, and all of these things ultimately mean that the university will not be able to cash in on the hoped for prestige and revenue that successful sports programs generate. Second surprise: Ball State is even worse than I suspected, getting knocked up late in the game at home against NTSU. Lean Green lead 10-3 in fourth. Uhh, the cheerleaders get knocked up; they are getting knocked out!

Golly, everyone. Nobody expected us to win this game, so it's alright. I'm sure our genious head coach will learn many things and lead us to our customary 5 wins!
