Bullseye.Good point, ZR32! And to take it a point further, he was strength AND CONDITIONING. Sounds like he was good in the strength part, but good and proper conditioning would eliminate a lot of those injuries. I had a S&C coach in college that made us stretch daily. Personally, I couldn't touch my toes when I started with him, but by the end of the season I could get my elbows to my toes! We stretched everything, from our heads down. My career ending knee injury was from a hit that would have taken out anyone's knee.

I agree with you, that you know "a little" about the game. You have shown that every time you post here. You seem to know very little in my opinion. For those of us on ZN who you feel "have little knowledge of football," let me tell you my qualifications. My father was a head coach while I grew up, and I was helping grade films by the time I was 8. I played D-1 college football, blew out my knee and became a student, then Graduate assistant coach. I went into private business, but continued to help at the local high school.In this time I learned more than a little football. So please don't throw blanket accusations out there!

We need to get out of playing 3 BCS level teams in a year. There is no reason to guarantee losing three games. The cycle of losing needs to stop and it needs to start with scheduling. Let's try to avoid three road games in a row next year as well.It's time to start winning. Let's put ourselves in a position to win and turn losers into winners. AMEN! We need to start a season as winners, not losing to BCS schools and starting every season 0-3. It's demoralizing to everyone but the treasurer.

Same old story.....short punt leads to another Temple TD. It's what, 42-17 now? My God, it is! Oh well, I;m going to bed. I have to get up and do....something. Have fun, everyone.

And that short punt lead to another Temple TD with about one minute left in the half. Our one time 17-7 lead is now a 28-17 deficit. Why am I nor surprised? And now Nicely throws an interception that is returned to the 5.

We got the ball back, went 3 and out, than had a 31 yard punt. Pathetic! D has no chance.

On the KO after Temple's punt return, our return man fields the KO at the 4, and promptly steps out of bounds. Had to punt from the end zone, and Temple has the ball in our territory. Who the hell is our special teams coach?...Oh, yeah, I forgot!

2 turnovers and a TD called back, but we only lead by 3 at the end of the first quarter. Temple trying to give it to us!

I think JD's biggest problem was questionable recruiting after winning the MAC in 2005. Yes, they were highly rated classes, but how many kids never made it to Akron? And that happened for 3 years until he finally realized he screwed up. Remember losing what, 5 scholarships? This completely killed any momentum. Hopefully our next coach learns from these mistakes, because I feel we will have a strong core for the next couple of years. we just need to build on it.And yes, I'm one of JD's biggest critics, but kudos, JD, for the win last Saturday!

EXACTLY! I think the talent is here, at least as much as most other MAC teams, but if you look at my past posts, I've pointed out many examples of poor coaching. A new coach needs to light a fire under some butts and have the players show some enthusiasm. Like Captains previous example, the kids don't seem to care!

I saw something about Jon Gruden the other day. Is he going to get another NFL HC opportunity? Would he settle for NFL assistant or would he rather HC a college team? I suppose the MAC $$ would be too much of a comedown for him..Doubtful....he's from Dayton, as was Gerry Faust, and if there is one thing I've noticed since my time here, Akron football does not like anybody from Dayton. Hopefully, that was just a JD thing.

AMEN! I have been railing about this for 3 years. I have seen Stec have one good half in all that time. We never got a chance to see his backup, even though he was All-Ohio in high school. We had 2 punters on scholarship, but we'll never know what the other guy could have done! Another example of JD's lack of change.By the way, JD gave the job to Stec because JD thought Stec had better hands. Ironically, Hildreth brcame the holder and saved our butts last year at EMU.
