  1. WTF is right?!?! 6th place and 1000 behind Cocky? Did South Carolina and some of the others mobilize? Bizarre ...
  2. Triv and Browns sideline reporter Andre Knott were talking on the air on WTAM 1100 around 5:30 this afternoon about the QB situation. Triv speculated that Anderson would be cut. Andre said don't be surprised if it is Frye. Not sure if this is where zen got his info but that is where I heard it.
  3. Bleacher - get CREATIVE! Vote FOR your mom, dad, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, grandma, grandpa, etc. You'll need to create a screen name for each of them AND delete your browser history (temporary files/history/cookies; in Internet Explorer go to Tools/Internet Options and click on the General tab, Delete Files, Delete History, Delete Cookies). Close your browser, open it back up and you're back in business for another vote. Pain in the ass? Yes, but if you do want to vote more than once and do it on behalf of others that MAY not even vote, that's one way to do it.
  4. Pretty much more of the same when Southern Miss hooks up with Georgia in week 7 ... SEYMOUR HAIRY DAWGLots of entertaining match-ups!
  5. Damn it! I'm TIRED of losing to BCS schools and I'm NOT going to lose to a Division I-AA (Montana) school - ANYTHING for you Zippy!
  6. Looks like Zippy has a lot of friends this morning! I'll bet a lot of them are technologically savvy too! Any chance one of the moderators can pin this thread to the top of the 'Latest Discussions' list through the end of the contest? It would serve as a constant reminder to vote early and often each day.As of about 9:30AM: Zippy 95 Cavman 36
  7. Either Western's defense is pretty bad or Akron is going to have its hands full next week at Indiana. Indiana's QB looks decent and is pretty quick on his feet. IU receivers look pretty good too.
  8. I don't know when ESPNU became available on Time Warner channel 118 here in the Akron area but for those of you interested in scouting Indiana and Western Michigan, the two of them play tonight at 8PM on ESPNU chan 118 following the UAB/FSU game (go UAB!).
  9. Its good Akron is playing right with them. All gotta do is capitalize on their mistakes. I would not be happy if i was an OSUcks Suckeye fan right now.
  10. I just sent Rick McFadden a quick e-mail asking about Brett's roster status. We'll see if he's allowed or wants to say anything. "Good" find zipfan 81 - I hope it's just an oversight!
  11. Nice having boots on the ground at WKYC!
  12. 1490 airs the Zips games?Isn't that WJMO the urban station? Apparently, WERE and WJMO swapped frequencies earlier this year (June) ... WERE is now 1490 and WJMO is on 1300.Here's what part of the Wikipedia entry says ..."WERE is an AM radio station licensed to Cleveland Heights, Ohio and operating on 1490 kHz. The station's studios are in downtown Cleveland, while the transmitter is along Euclid Avenue near East 118th Street, adjacent to the Case Western Reserve University campus. It uses the on-air slogan "The People's Station," and features an urban news/talk format. The majority of WERE's shows are syndicated by station owner Radio One.Prior to June 4, 2007, the station had operated at 1300 kHz frequency, where it had been at since 1949. That frequency is now home to sister station WJMO."I knew there was a Cleveland station carrying the signal and I just kept working my way up and down the dial until I found Frenchy again.
  13. Same here. Out of Cleveland late and had a bit of a walk with my family back to the car. Love the idea and look forward to listening after future games.By the way, 1350 came in so-so. Switched over to 1490 and got a much stronger signal.
  14. Psst ... hey, organizers ... price the tickets like you really want the general public to come catch a game they could generally care less about and you might put butts in seats and sell some concessions.
  15. In-depth, ESPN.com front-page story on Toledo basketball/football investigation ...Unholy Toledo?
  16. What a bunch of crap. I'm all of 8 miles to the southwest of Akron in Norton and I have to play around with the dial and antenna like I'm trying to pull in a signal from Tokyo. My vote is for FM or 640AM. Seems to me that you'd want to make SURE fairly well-to-do areas like Montrose (route 18), Copley, and Wadsworth are covered but what do I know. Sounds like I'll be listening to some of the games on the web again this year.
  17. LOVE opening up at home against Miami, hosting Toledo, and closing out the season at home against Can't on senior night. Should be a packed and very rowdy house against Can't March 9th.
  18. That's because these big schools saw what happened with can't state and duke in basketball last year and dont wanna be on sportscenter on the losing end to a smaller but growing school
  19. Simon and Garfunkel concert 1983 Any Akron game I attended with my mother. She ALWAYS made sure we were there early so we could see Ohio's Pride come marching onto the field from the open end of the stadium. She doesn't attend many games any more but I've carried on the tradition with my kids, always making sure we're there to see and hear the marching band play our fight song! GO ZIPS!
  20. It would be kind of cool to hear "The Voice of the Stadium" once again at the dedication of InfoCision Stadium, this time (maybe sounding a bit tired/weary/older) as he names some of the events he has hosted and witnessed over the last 69 years before passing the torch. Video and still images could be shown on the scoreboard as "he" is speaking. A shot of the words "R U B B E R B O W L" could then cut to video of the Rubber Bowl at night as the lights are turned out for the last time on a lone (and famous) light pole.A lot of good memories (not necessarily good results) out there but I'm 42 and ready for a shiny new model!
  21. Getsy for San Fran in the 3rd and/or 4th quarter as he competes against Hill for the 3rd QB position behind Smith and Dilfer?
  22. I wonder if one of the board admins can change the counter so it jumps from 665 to 667?
  23. Oooh! Once bitten, twice shy. Still smarting after The Don stole the Aeros away oh so many years ago. Something tells me we won't be seeing Earl at InfoCision Stadium on 9/12/2009.I like seeing the HOF game played right next to the HOF. Wouldn't mind the additional revenue and visibility though!
  24. It APPEARS that KD has done a good job on the recruiting trail and there should be guys who can step in to fill the shoes of Dru and Romeo. Assuming it is winning and not the home-town-boy appeal that has caused attendance to increase in recent years, I don't see why attendance won't continue to improve. KD's system/game is entertaining and I'm hoping he can simply reload like so many programs are able to do. Time will tell but I agree, we need to continue to plan for the (near) future. As I've said before, put the differences aside, shake hands, and get it done. It should be a win/win/win for all of us - the City of Akron, The U of A, and the fans.
