I have it on good authority that Jason Taylor, Dru Joyce, Romeo Travis, Dominik Hixon, Charlie Frye, JD Brookhart, Keith Dambrot, Chase Blackburn, Dr. Proenza, and LeBron James all just cast votes for Zippy!
Same here.I've still got 60+ votes to cast (will do that while watching the NHRA tonight). Also plan to get up early tomorrow and get my 60+ in again before 9AM.
NO kidding! I was thinking the same thing as I stood at the top of the Rubber Bowl and watched both bands. Cant's band is truly pathetic, especially for a school that supposedly boasts enrollment of 35000+. I too was very proud of Ohio's Pride and the way they marched onto the field was totally cool. Thank you U of A marching band for helping to make my game-day experience complete!
UConn is doing a number AT Pitt ... at the end of the 1st half, UConn is up 27-7. Thought some of you might like to scout UConn (our next opponent), especially since they're playing a decent team on the road.
It's 8:20PM, , and Zippy is UP by 18. Come on everyone - KEEP VOTING! This one's going to go right down to the wire. DON'T forget to vote Monday morning BEFORE 9AM when voting closes for the week.
Time to disinfect the Wagon Wheel and put it back in OUR case where it rightfully belongs!GREAT showing by the AK-Rowdies and the Akron students in general. Not a real pretty win but we'll take it. Way to go Zips!
Would agree ... go with the extra 6-pack and leave the keg untapped and pure. Beautiful day for tailgating and you wouldn't want to run dry too soon. Still plenty of time to go get the 6-pack.My son and I are heading down to the JAR in a bit to watch the Lady Zippers beat the crap out of Can't State in v-ball. Go Zips! See everyone tomorrow!
I think what skip-zip means is Zippy will gives us GREAT exposure on January 1st when the bigger boys have traditionally played. No need to cringe ... our football team will give us good exposure athletically when we play in one of the lesser-known bowls sometime before that. Having Zippy win a contest related to a Big Ten/SEC match-up bowl is great for Akron. We love Zippy and need to share her with the rest of the country in the national spotlight. Go Zippy!
So would you rather he talked about Ohio State? No way! As Dr Z said, nobody bleeds more Akron Blue and Gold than Joe BUT I'd just like to see him tone it down a bit when it's pretty obvious we've got NO chance to win. I can't STAND osu - you struck a nerve!
I think our "friends" at the U of Montana are setting us back. They made a big run yesterday on the gopher and I'm sure most of them are voting against Zippy in the process. I think it's time for a big U of A push. Time to remind everyone you know to vote for Zippy. I don't think we're going to cruise to a win like we did last week.
Brings back B-A-D memories of trying to get those d@%$ things over my shoes and zipped up before heading out the door for the walk (a mile uphill both ways) to elementary school. The ones with buckles were a bit better IF you could get the buckles to stay closed. NO WAY am I putting those things on again! Nice idea for the rest of you though!
 WHAT? Joe Dunn ... saying ANYTHING even REMOTELY pessimistic about the Zips ?!? I refuse to believe it until I hear it for myself.I agree it's nice to have the new show. Hey Joe ... a little advice ... when we're down by 30 points in basketball or 18 touchdowns in football, PLEASE leave the "IF A, B, C, D, & E happen, I still think the Zips have a chance to get outta here with a win!" talk for another day. I don't mind a homer but YEESH!
Lemme know if you need a hand. Would be glad to help. Don't forget a pair of gloves ... fiberglass shards and trough "residue" you know.Finding it a LITTLE bit hard to get real fired up about the Can't game this year. I'm still so peeved off about last year's debacle at Can't that I just want to see the Zips come in and do their business on Can't so we can all just move on to Connecticut and the rest of the MAC schedule. and always will in my book.
Sssshhhhhh ... let's just keep our version of OSU/Michigan our little secret! If the students find out, they MIGHT just venture off campus and show up at the Rubber Bowl.
I need to fill an opening in my schedule ... road game and draw a paycheck or play a charity game and pay I-AA Delaware State to come visit? What the heck, let's do the charitable thing. Just to make SURE we don't make any money, let schedule it at roughly the same time as the OSU/Washington game. Brilliant.
My son and two guys I work with will be at the Lizard in Fairlawn, most likely center-stage at the same table we were sitting at last week for the Akron/OSU game.
IU 31Akron 13 (take your pick ... 2 TDs and 1 missed PAT or 1 TD, a MADE PAT, and 2 MADE FGs)I also fear a letdown on the defensive side of the ball. IU's QB and receivers looked pretty good to me even if WMU self-destructed. I think they are going to give us problems. Have not seen ANY indication our offense can move the ball well enough to get into scoring position very often let alone actually score once inside the red zone. Downer of a predication but that's the way it looks to me.All that being said, I'll make my way to a local watering hole again this Saturday for the game (most likely the Winking Lizard; our waiter was NOT wearing an OSU jersey although quite a few of the employees were last weekend).
Has the Buchtelite run a story on Zippy and the contest? Are they publishing a reminder in each edition of the paper?Has anyone from the Columbus Leaking Urinal thought to do a small feature article? My guess is any mention of it would get stuck as an "Oh, by the way, ..." blurb at the end of some other article. I've voted for all 50 of my brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, parents, and in-laws both days. Time for others on campus and in the greater Columbus community (Akron is a suburb of Columbus, right?) to get out and vote each day.
