  1. Oh my, didn't see that one!
  2. Yeah, the people at the Q had it brought down supposedly because it was bigger than signs are allowed to be but ultimately because it included the word "Sucks." I was standing in front of the sign when it was put away and that is some of the discussion I heard. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
  3. If Can't is allowed to sport their "Screw the Roo!" shirts wherever they go, would it be appropriate to offer "SCREWED BY THE ROO!" T-shirts and hats to Akron fans and fans of those sent packing by the Zips? Just wondering ... Nah, probably don't want to stoop to Can'ts level ...
  4. Oooh, that's a nasty flat-line there in the second half for Can't ... what a beautiful thing!
  5. You buy the 5-pack mac and cheese and take it to the Q for a ticket. The stores do not have any vouchers that I was made aware of and vouchers were not mentioned when we went to the Q this morning and almost got turned away without tickets or vouchers in hand ...Just got back from the Q. Picked up 16 5-packs of Kraft mac & cheese at Giant Eagle at 3AM this morning. Kyle and I drove to the Q and got to the ticket office at about 9:30. The guy at the window told us that they were NOT allowed to hand out tickets for the men's game until AFTER the women's game (ends about 3 this afternoon). Apparently scalpers and brokers in the past have brought truckloads of the stuff to the Q, gotten tickets, and then scalped/sold them. I told the guy that it was not made clear at all last night at the Q or on their web site that that was the case. I also pointed to Kyle and told them that we were NOT scalpers or brokers and that the 8 tickets were for my family. The manager ended up making a few phone calls and finally gave the guy working the window the go-ahead to give us our tickets. Another manager walked by the window and reminded the guy giving us our tickets that there is a 4-ticket limit per person. For any of you looking to get your tickets early like we did (section 117, row 13; not bad; lower bowl), you may want to call the Q first or check their web site to see if they've changed their policy. Another fan was walking up to the window with mac and cheese as we were turning ours in and I don't know how he made out - I wasn't sticking around to find out. I had my tickets and was heading south again. The guy did confirm that nothing about "after the women's game" was said last night and nothing (as of early this morning) was posted on the web site. Good luck everyone. See you tonight!
  6. THAT is an awesome sign - my favorite so far but you guys just keep coming up with something new all of the time. That one goes into the Rowdie Hall of Fame! Thanks for posting. Also can't (they suck) say enough about the effort you and the other Rowdies made keeping your chins up after that ugly first half. You never gave up and obviously neither did the guys on the hardwood. Those last 10 minutes were a blast and you guys kept the faith all the way through. Great job. See you in about 7 hours.
  7. A lot of the Giant Eagle stores in the Akron area are open 24 hours. I just called the one in Montrose and the 5-packs of Kraft are 2 5-packs for $6 and the manager has quite a few cases ready to go. Waterloo Road also has them. Ya can't (they suck) beat the price - ASK A FRIEND OR TWO OR THREE AND GET THEM TO THE Q TOMORROW NIGHT!!!!
  8. I think you have to buy them at GIANT EAGLE (special 5-packs?). That promo has been used in the past for the championship game and I'm pretty sure you have to get the mac & cheese at Giant Eagle (they sponsor the promo). Check to make sure. It's 1:27AM, CAN'T STATE STILL SUCKS, and I'm considering heading out to a 24-hour Giant Eagle to make sure I get 12 5-packs for my van load of people.UN-FREAKIN' BELIEVABLE TONIGHT!!!!
  9. Many of you have already said it ...Out-hustle Can't on the glass and keep pounding it inside, especially to Wood. I have no idea why Akron stopped doing that for a period of time last Sunday. Loading up and heading north in about a half hour. Looking forward to a big crowd and I hope it is pro-Akron! All six in our van are!
  10. Kyle and Katie just got home from school, fired up the CMU/Akron game on DVR, and just ran through all of the cheers together. If I hear "Peanut Butter Goddard Time ..." one more time ...
  11. Thanks. Didn't check other sources to make sure what I heard was correct.Win or lose tonight, there is just no denying that We all make mistakes in life but I am VERY thankful one of mine WASN'T attending Can't State!
  12. It is actually Keonta Howell who hurt his foot and I couldn't find anything on the Toledo web site (surprise) confirming that he'll be out. The Toledo Blade article mentioned that he may try to play tonight.
  13. Sounds like the MAC has just announced that they will be opening the curtains around the top of the Q for tonight's games. First time since the MAC moved the tournament to Cleveland that they've done that!Should be a helluva game tonight ... GO ZIPS!!!!!
  14. OK .... GO ZIPS!
  15. What skip-zip said.
  16. Give me Western tomorrow night for their third game in as many days. Want to take as much of the emotion out of tomorrow night's game as possible. Can't has a score to settle, has played one less game, and is a very talented and well-coached team. Two is enough for me this year. Come on, Broncos!
  17. I was out trolling on OU's web site and I noticed they are counting the days until the start of their football season ...ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio football team will make its 2007 season debut on Saturday, Sept. 1 versus Gardner-Webb at Peden Stadium. The match up with the Bulldogs was one of four non-conference games announced on Tuesday. After opening the season at home, the Bobcats will travel to Louisiana-Lafayette on Sept. 8 and Virginia Tech on Sept. 15. Ohio will host Wyoming on Sept. 22 in the final non-league game of the season."We believe we have put together a very competitive schedule that will prepare our football team for another run at a MAC championship," Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt said. "Not only are we excited about the match ups, but also the fact we have the opportunity to play six home games." Gardner-Webb??? Louisiana-Lafayette??? "We believe we have put together a very competitive schedule that will prepare our football team for another run at a MAC championship," Yeah, right ...
  18. My group of 4 is planning to stay for at least the 1st-half of Can't to cheer for Western. The sooner Can'ts season is over, the better. Western wouldn't be a walk in the park but we KNOW Can't would like to pay us back. I hope those in charge of the bus stick around so as many as possible are there to pull for the Broncos.
  19. I think Buffalo helped us out big time by climbing back into this game. Down by 30 with about 13 minutes to go, they turned it into a game and forced CMU to continue to play hard all the way to the end. I agree that Akron should be able to do better than they did earlier this year against CMU and I don't know that I would expect CMU to repeat a 58% shooting performance. Akron 72 CMU 58
  20. How about reserving the two lower-level chairback sections closest to the south end Rowdies for us AK-OLDIES? As OUR numbers grow, we'll make a grab for the two sections closest to the north ROWDIES and begin to squeeze in towards the middle. If we do it right, we'll catch them all sleeping and they'll never know what hit them! Just kidding big donors ... sorta. I'll be in the upper-chairbacks waiting for the word. Those around me can confirm that I don't sit on my hands and I do my share of the yelling and bad-mouthing the refs! Love the AK-OLDIES idea.
  21. EMU led comfortably midway through the second half and then went cold. Ball State had two chances in the last 20 seconds to tie but missed. Ball State shot 26% from the field for the game. EMU beat Ball State by 4 at BSU and by 10 at home during the regular season.Toledo beat Eastern twice during the regular season - by 10 at EMU and 12 at home.
  22. I'm OK with an open-ended stadium for now given current interest/attendance levels. I would think they'll preserve the space they need at each end (or at least at one of the ends) to join the two sides when additional seating is needed. Build it for 25-30K without cutting corners on what is built now and make it more pleasing to the eye by filling in the end(s) down the road. I'm amazed at how nice all of the new buildings on campus are and I think we'll like the new stadium as well.I WOULD like to see dirt flying rather than later. Construction delays scare me and I want to be sitting in that thing for Kentucky in September 2009. Where's my shovel ....
  23. I love how Coles interacts with the fans. Also enjoy the many facial expressions on display during a game. Nice guy. Is a Miami alum and, like Dambrot, is probably very satisfied as head coach at his alma mater.
  24. A huge THANK YOU from me and the rest of my family as well. I watch you guys during a game almost as much as I watch the game itself! Kyle and I had a great time on the bus trip to Toledo and I also appreciate how well all of you conduct yourselves at the games. Love how organized and varied the cheers are. Alumni have certainly taken notice and here's to hoping more of the students join the fun as time goes on. Have a great time this week in Cleveland!
  25. A friend of mine loaned me a VHS tape of the Akron/Michigan game a few months ago. I should probably borrow it again and get it converted to DVD before the tape dies. Fun stuff to look back on. I cut class that afternoon to stay home and watch it. I think of that game every time I see our 6'3" center Russell Holmes at the JAR.
