I'll go like that  but I'm NOT wearing the rug! Gotta draw the line somewhere.I wonder if the Rowdies could come up with a self-deprecating cheer/chant to heckle OUR time keeper to make sure he/she stays awake and on the ball at our home games. All in fun of course.

WE chose to schedule Duquesne. Did it help us? Did it hurt us? Given that win/loss record OBVIOUSLY didn't really matter to the committees, I would lean towards it hurt us for the reason you gave - that much more effort relatively close to tourney time. We ended up beating Buffalo and Can't that week but one less game may have left JUST enough more in the tank against Miami. Who knows.I was even wondering whether we could play additional games within our conference if pickings are slim outside of conference? Since we only played Toledo there, could we have scheduled them at home? MUCH better SOS/RPI game than a Tiffin (didn't count), Binghamton, etc.. I know there are some duds in the MAC but even some of them are better than what we had to schedule OOS. Ignore this thought if there are NCAA/MAC rules against this sort of thing.

(sorry for the possible double-post; I was using my wife's laptop and was signed in as her; not sure if that post made it so I'm using my account) ... or what it almost remained - THE Ohio A&M College "John R. Buchtel was instrumental in selecting the site for the A&M school ... and also led the fight to make the curriculum broad and inclusive rather than restricted to the agricultural and mechanical fields." (paraphrased from p.23 of "Summit's Glory" by George Knepper)Bummer #1 - if our founder hadn't been so influential down south, we might have been watching 16-seed THE Ohio A&M College playing 16-seed Florida A&M University tonight in the NCAA play-in game for the right to play #1 Kansas. Bummer #2 - I'd take a play-in game right now!

Who do we talk to to get something done?

Count me in with skip-zip. Water under the bridge now but Miami would have had to rush it even more than they did.

Welcome Steve! I couldn't help but think of your high school stats and enthusiasm for our program as I watched Tim Pollitz do a number on us on both ends of the court. Really looking forward to watching you play and help the Zips avoid the kind of crap we just witnessed this weekend. Again, WELCOME and thanks for becoming part of The Nation!

"Thanks everyone!" 23 minutes? Did he have to run off to the bathroom or something?! That sucked ...
-
Yeah, kinda like watching the selection shows all over again complete with that sinking feeling ...

If that was the Rubber Bowl, it would be good start ... too bad it was the JAR.

PRETTY much how I feel Saturday and Sunday nights went. Thank you very much.

No NCAA or NIT on TV or radio for me this year. I don't usually watch/listen much past the first couple of rounds anyway since I usual have had my fill of BCS schools beating themselves up during the regular season by that point. I may check espn.com to see how Miami and Toledo do but that will be about it.

I agree with one of the other posts I read somewhere else on the board ... all of our teams (basketball, football, soccer in particular) need to play with a huge cow-chip on their shoulder next year. Win some games that mean something and beat the hell out of those you SHOULD beat. Play within ourselves but with a real attitude that says we're tired of this crap and we're going to do something about it ourselves. Win games that mean something and win as often as we can and we may not have to rely on others as much to get where we want to be.

Seems like the interview was done after the NCAA selection but before the NIT. STILL don't know anything!
-
That's funny - my wife, son and I were just talking about him. I saw that he was on the board but had not commented yet. I was explaining to them that he's probably thinking everything through and formulating a very detailed, thorough, well-thought-out response. Then again maybe he'll just say F the MAC, NCAA, and NIT! Guess we'll have to just wait and see!

A-N-O-T-H-E-R I can't take many more in such a short period of time!!!

Thanks Big Zip. It would be mind-boggling to me if they did but I couldn't tie the ESPN opening with the result (no bid).

Still on the "Did we turn it down?" thing ... * Has KD/UA protested to the MAC with a sliver of hope something could change before Friday? (my wife's thought)* Is KD/UA sending the MAC a message (giving them the finger) for the way they handled the review of the end of the game last night? KD was surprised/disappointed that it was left up to the three officials to review and determine how that was handled.* Was KD/UA expecting a home game given the number of wins and drew a terrible road assignment? Is there added expense that isn't covered somehow that we don't want to pick up?Just food for thought ...

A-M-E-N!!!!! Tiffin, Binghamton, St. Francis (PA), Winston-Salem. Losing to UALR (sub-500) and get Gardner-Webb instead of Texas Tech if we had won.

Just to add something to the possibility we turned it down ...The ESPN host started the show off by saying something to the effect "Let's take a look at some of the teams that WILL be in there ..." and they showcased Akron first. One of the other two guys then said something to the effect that "it's hard to believe somebody with 26 wins, playing well in their conference, ... NOT making the NIT."I wonder if the NIT selected us and then screwed us by sending us on a wild road trip again (Temple, Creighton)? KD and the boys MAY have told them to go get lost. I don't think KD was too happy with how Akron had to travel last year.

two nights in the row. I can't believe it ...
-
NIT isn't where we want to be but I think the additional games are a good chance for our underclassmen to get some valuable experience in a playoff environment. Good luck Akron - we'll be watching at 9PM tonight!

Thanks for starting this thread. I almost did last night but chose not to post anything last night and just went to bed.It may not have been a 1350AM problem but that station does have to go. As soon as I get off of the Cleveland-Massillon Road exit in Norton the signal begins to fade and is pretty much gone about a mile-and-a-half later to the southwest. 640, 850, and 1590 all come in just fine where I live. Could not believe, after that kind of ending, that we couldn't even cry in our beer a little bit on the drive home listening to Frenchy, KD, and a player or two. Another and I really didn't need that too. 1350AM and the problems we've had with the broadcasts are embarrassments. Come on Mack - get this situation resolved by football season.

PERFECT! My nausea and depression will be almost 24 hours old! Talk about a punch in the gut last night ... Life definitely isn't always fair and we Akron fans have the scars to prove it. Love my Zips and ALWAYS will ... as hard as that is at times.GO ZIPS!

One other wish for Can't ... enjoy the Wagon Wheel now while you've got it 'cause we're taking that friggin' thing back TOO next fall! Bunch of foul-mouthed, class-less hippies ...

Thanks Blue and Gold. It's REALLY easy to quickly judge someone's character when you don't have all of the facts.
