  1. Line has gone up to 6.5.. http://www.vegasinsider.com/college-football/odds/las-vegas/
  2. I'm excited about it since it looks like Pohl will play (if I'm decoding the coachspeak correctly), giving us a better chance to win. I hope Woodson plays some too, to get back on the horse and show that he is progressing, without the whole weight of the game on his back. Beating the Zoomba's is always good in and of itself, regardless of the conference race. Still need to run the ball and get 1st downs to set up some big plays. Reducing turnovers is a plus but not the determining factor.
  3. Except that it isn't an issue of "fairness", it's a matter of safety/precaution. Burying Hirschman seems to be the fairness issue.
  4. Tweets from G. Thomas today: "they were being cautious with Pohl" TB noon press conference video should be uploaded later today.
  5. Nice catch, Balsy. I'm guessing his personal reason is that his PT here has run its course.
  6. Isn't this a serious violation of the players' health information privacy?
  7. I'm not as concerned about who starts as who finishes...
  8. It's nice that we're getting some health status on our QB out of Chicago, even if it conflicts with what's been reported locally...how weird is that and who is their source? BTW, let's remember BG lost their #1 QB Matt Johnson in Game 1 so they are playing with a backup also.
  9. This happened to one of his former HS teammates: http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/story/27054220/2014/10/27/doctors-amputate-teens-leg-after-football-injury?clienttype=mobile
  10. If that's the case then Hirschman should have gone in when Woodson went into meltdown mode. I don't think anyone's demanding a championship this year, but at least try to win. That's what you're being paid a lot of money to do.
  11. It's dated Oct. 22, last Wednesday, at which time KP was 100% healthy. I just hope someone asks at the presser on Tue. why he didn't play.
  12. http://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/index.ssf/2014/10/qb_kyle_pohl_is_back_for_the_a.html#incart_related_stories The good news for the Akron Zips is that quarterback Kyle Pohl is back, 100 percent good-to-go on the football field. Bowden also said no final decision would be made on a starter until the end of the week, although both quarterbacks would likely play. Following a recent practice, where Pohl participated full-go in full gear, the 6-3, 215-pound junior QB said he was now ready for a return to action. "I feel great,'' he said. "I have felt good since the middle of last week. Just wanted to go through all the precautions. I am ready to go." "I'm ready to go, cleared, and knocking the rust off from last week, getting back into it. I feel good."
  13. It wouldn't have been fair to Pohl to put him in late in the game? Was it fair to the defense to leave Woodson in to throw 4 picks? I don't know how this doesn't hurt recruiting. If I'm a potential recruit watching the Zips, I'm wondering what the criteria are for playing time here, if it's not based on merit.
  14. No bowl for you, Zips. BG will be favored by 20.
  15. Was that a collective groan I heard from the MAC game announcers? "Okey Dokey" is a great nickname though...that or "Li'l Gamechanger"
  16. If we don't get burned for any long TD passes....we win. If we run to the outside for positive yardage 4+ times.....we win. If Grice has 3+ carries.....we win. If we turn the ball over via punts 7+ times....we lose. If we throw 22+ incompletions....we lose. If we lose 2 or more players to ejections and/or injuries....we lose.
  17. Thanks for the link. I don't think TB threw the game away because Woodson played but he certainly didn't pull out all the stops he could have with the running game. We had 7 "turnovers" on punts, mostly because of incomplete passes; if we move the chains a few more times then maybe it doesn't come down to a few mistakes at the end of the game. "The Process" is alive and well, and "expectations management" is a big part of it.
  18. AKRON, Ohio – University of Akron football head coach Terry Bowden and swimming and diving head coach Brian Peresie will be the guests on tonight's Zips Live presented by Lee Hyder and Associates, which is broadcast from 7-8 p.m. ET live from Johnny J's Pub and Grille in the Valley (1282 Weathervane Lane). Maybe something will be said about the QB situation for Saturday. I don't plan to listen but maybe someone would like to report back. TB is showing me he has no set goals for this year and is in no big hurry to go anywhere. Which is good if he can continue to upgrade the roster each year.
  19. Apparently. Balsy?
  20. TB had already announced TW as the starter by Thursday. By gentlemen's agreement, he couldn't go back on that...it wouldn't have been fair to Solich and the Bobcats.
  21. 2014 MAC Basketball Top 25: #20 G/F Jake Kretzer, Akron Zips http://www.hustlebelt.com/mac-basketball/2014/10/22/6994637/2014-mac-basketball-top-25-20-g-f-jake-kretzer-akron-zips
  22. So what's the minimum time before the game that TB needs to name the starter?
  23. "They were beating us up front. We should have used our fullback and run over some people..."
  24. Pretty much a must-win if we want to maintain a winning record, since beating BG is going to be a 50-50 proposition at best. And if we lose this one the regrets over the OU game plan are going to be that much worse.
  25. Call me crazy but I think we could average more than 1 yard per carry in the MAC if our coaches set their minds to it.
