  1. Take your time, do it right....wasn't that an 80's song?
  2. Groce does not want to drop back down to the MAC and will not be a candidate.
  3. Zips Notch First Ever Regular Season Win Over Miami (Ohio), 4-3 (see gozips.com)

  6. I'm staying on the same hotel floor as Crean and couldn't help overhearing him talking on his cell phone saying he thinks JAR Arena is an outstanding facility and he would have no problem recruiting Indiana-level players to Akron if given the chance.
  7. Didn't you watch "Decision 2" on ESPN?
  8. I am assuming we won't give any new scholarships this year for new players coming in to replace those transferring out(?) Is there a yearly scholarship limit on how many we could give next year after returning to a normal recruiting cycle? Is it possible to cherry pick a couple of good Div. II players this year to fill the gaps without them having to sit out a year?
  9. Let's take our time and get the right head coach for the next 5-7 years. Worry about the players and assistants later. KD has left our program with a good reputation, and with playing time available here I don't think we'll fall off the cliff.
  10. Not to steal Skip's thunder but....enjoy: https://controller.osu.edu/acc/2015_fin_rpt.pdf
  11. Let's see, who are our tight ends now?
  12. KD's intro http://www.goduquesne.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/033017aac.html
  13. So none of these guys were hired by Dayton: http://www.sportingnews.com/ncaa-basketball/news/dayton-coach-job-archie-miller-replacements-greg-paulus-dane-fife-james-whitford/1gtihgdgszy7c1585zxmvw2gzx
  14. As far as getting home opponents, yes. And you can only travel the players so much.
  15. Atlantic "10", with 14 full members I think he can get to middle of the pack without too much trouble. Getting to the top 3 or 4 for an at large will be tough with Dayton, VCU, URI, Richmond, etc. And Duquesne, like Akron, will have to earn every ounce of respect they get from selection committees when they get to bubble territory.
  16. It was mentioned in the elton alexander column.
  17. Size matters also in visual effect for recruit visits and for getting the Indiana's, Pitt's and Iowa State's to come here. Football and basketball.
  18. He was with DONORS?!? The coaching search can wait !!
  19. It helps the revenue stream to win a pro sports championship I suppose. Where will the Cavs play while these reno's are being done?
  20. Maybe KD has already donated some money back to UA quietly, who knows? And maybe he will donate some of his Duq. earnings. It's not like he's cutting all ties with Akron.
  21. Pardon the repeats if already posted... http://pittsburghsportsnow.com/2017/03/28/can-dambrot-change-course-duquesne-basketball/ http://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/index.ssf/2017/03/will_akron_replace_keith_dambr.html
  22. To upgrade JAR Arena?
  23. "We will immediately launch a national search for our new basketball coach, and we reaffirm our commitment to building our basketball program and all of Akron Athletics into a nationally recognized program across the board. In addition to finding a new coach, we are working to be in a position to upgrade the James A. Rhodes Arena and we will need to rely on support from the community to achieve that goal." Any guesses what LW meant by the underlined?
  24. It alleviates some salary cost on paper in the short term but those savings need to be plowed directly into the facility upgrades fund. It's not like a windfall that's going to ease a lot of pressure on the athletics budget.
